Alright so I want to know if tattoos are good or bad. In my opinion the are not in fact i have 2 a small cross on the inner part of both of my wrists. I also thin that it is the heart behind getting them but if ya'll have any other "beliefs" about this please let me know.

i don't personally have a problem with tattoos,
just as long as they're not overboard or offensive =P
i wouldn't mind getting a small mushroom one on my arm,
like that one from Super Mario, the "1-Up" symbol =P
James

I don't think that anything is wrong w/ tats. I personally wouldn't eva get one. But hey to each their own oppinion.

I'm honestly not a tatoo fan. Suppose I got a tatoo. Who's to say that ten years from now I'm still going to want that tatoo. I'd rather not chance it with something permanent.

Shouldn't your body be a temple (Shouldn't it?)
For we worshsip God with it
And I heard tatoos are very painful

NO! NO! NO! NO!, i read somewhere in the bible that you cant have tattoos!! i would direct you to where in the bible it says that, but i cant remember from the top of my head xD But it specifically said that you shouldn't have tattoos

just my 2 cents.
I don't really see a problem in it, as long as its not something that is visibly offensive (hate symbols, swear words, etc) I mean, if u wanan be nuts and have a giant dragon all down your arm, go ahead, but when your 50, it will look like some wrinkly throw up, or some MASSIVE liverspots lol..

and yes, I do remember reading that your body is a temple in the bible. I use that to try to con people that are faithful into not smoking.

I think tattoos are awesome I actually want one but my parents wont let me so I guess I'm going to have to wate untill I'm 18. They think that i'll change my mind or something, but one point i'd like to make - Everyone always says why would you want a tattoo!?! Imagine what it's going to look like when your like 60-70.. Guess what when i'm 60-70 I don't think im really going to care because my skin is already old and wrinkly and a blurred out tat wont mean anything to me then. Another thing cool is people will get special signs/sayings/or phrases that mean something to them which is really cool and a good way to show everyone something about you. Lastly the only reason people reading this or reply will say that they don't like tattoos is usually because they have seen people who plastered themselved with them and it looked horrible OR they are adults who when they were in shcool saw everyone who had tattoos as rebels or gangsters and think it is still obscene and see them and always think of their past or like a said just rebels.

I like them, as long as they're original/not cliched. If you have a butterfly tattoo on your lower back, you really need to sterilize yourself. Okay, that's a bit harsh, but you know what I mean.

I saw a girl with a snitch (from HP), on the back of her neck the other day, and I really liked it.

My parents won't let me get any while I'm living with them, though. I respect them, so I won't. They will let me get a few piercings, though, so I'm currently trying to sell them on an anti-eyebrow. So far, they aren't buying it. But I have confidence in my bargaining skills. I think everything's possible. Except tattoos. And probably anything in the genital area. And my nipples. But I'm okay with that.

My thought on tatoo's is this. I have a birth mark. It's not one that's looks funny or stands out, but it is there and is noticable. I know what it's like to have a mark that can't be removed. There are days I wish I could. Why add something that you don't know is something you'll feel the same way about in 15 years. People change as they grow up. Oh, and Kumdie, I'm not a 40 year old who looks at tatoo's as a rebel thing. I'm a 20 year old not much older than you. It's your choice, but it's one that'll stick with you, or cost you a ton to reverse. 8-)

Theres something about Satanists doing the first tatoos, on their wrists, to show that they followed Satan. Tattoos are bad :tongue.

I can see how having a tattoo could be a stumbling block, depending upon the content of the tattoo. In other cases, I think it could actually be a good thing. What's wrong with a tattoo that shows the world your love for Jesus? A tattoo is just a way to express yourself, just like the way you dress or the way you wear your hair. Sure, there are stumbling ways to go about it -- dressing in skimpy clothing would serve to stumble others, but there are perfectly good and wholesome ways of dressing as well. I think the same applies for tattoos.

Well, I don't like tattoos really. I don't think they'er bad, but they aren't really good either. What is the point of a tattoo?
Here's a quote to think about.

"Depending on one’s culture, and because we should not serve as a stumbling block for fellow believers and prospective believers who may be scandalized or otherwise alienated (cf. 1 Cor. 8:9), a Catholic may have additional reason to refrain from body piercing and tattoos. In other words, Catholics should not behave in ways that will unnecessarily offend others and therefore impede the Church’s mission to make disciples of all nations (cf. Mt. 28:18-20)."

I don't have a problem with them. I know people always quote the verse on mutilating yourself, but getting a tattoo isn't a mutilation...

You can still worship God if you have a tatoo. The body is a temple and it houses your soul. As long as you dont pollute your soul. I dont even think self injury is a sin, I do however believe that God does'nt like to see peoiple hurting them selves for emotional reasons since God loves us he does'nt like to see us in emotional pain. Tatoos are only skin deep and I dont think God will look at you differently for having one I dont believe he is that shallow.

Leviticus 19:28
You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the LORD.

Do a search on "tattoo in the Bible" and do some reading. Once you are done pray about it and and make up your mind with Gods guidance.

I have my opinion but it doesn't really matter what I think.

it is that attiude that earns my respect for you dont feel as if people are bound to your opinon

but to the point of tattoos.... dont forget during that time many warriors put horrific markings and tatoos that basicaly desecrated their bodies. has anyone ever stoped to think maybee things have changed in 2000 years????

but also as for I AM THE LORD that sounds like a corrupt church using its power to make people obay

Thank you. I understand that my relationship with God is a personal one and he may convict me differently that he does someone else. A good example of this is alcohol. I have been convicted to not drink. This doesn't mean that a Christian shouldn't unless that is how God has convicted them. It also doesn't mean I am any better or worse than someone who does. There is a barrier to this in that we are told not to be a drunkard or someone who drinks to excess.

I'm unclear about the circumstances behind what God said and what the people were doing at this time. These things may have been done because others worshiping false gods may have been doing it and God was warning against it. In any event I don't believe Gods word has changed. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

As for me I don't read this that way. As a father I read this as "I am your father and you will do as I say". Who hasn't heard that before :biggrin

Here is an article for tattoo's. The bottom section asks some very valid questions and cautions.

Here is an article against tattoo's. There is a very nice testimony in it.

Again pray about it but don't go into prayer with a preconceived notion of what you want God to say. Be open to getting an answer opposite to what you may want to hear. If you can do that you will know you are following God's will and not your own.
