I hadn't been born into the Kingdom of God for long that fall of 1977 but the Lord Jesus had baptized me in His wonderful Holy Spirit too. It was all a mystery since He came and did His work in me outside of any church. Not being swayed by denominational doctrines is wonderful. The only allegiance I owe is to the Lord God. It was that excellent honeymoon period of my salvation when I was getting to know the Lord better. Actually I'm still getting to know Him better.

It was a Friday night in October and I was walking outside in the moonlight and praying. I was planning on a squirrel hunt the next morning and found myself praying "Lord I'm going squirrel hunting tomorrow and I ask you to give me a limit of squirrels. I also ask you to let seven of them be grey squirrels and one to be a fox squirrel. Lord can I be back home before noon? Thank you Lord, Amen. Now, if the thought of killing innocent squirrels bothers you please stop here.

I don't know if I'd planned to pray those things or not but that's what came out. So many times we're amazed at what comes out of our mouths because it's God that's giving us the prayer. Like prophesying the prophet thinks "my, that's amazing" even as he speaks the words God is giving him. Having a farm family heritage, fishing and hunting were second nature to me and living here in the Ouachita Mountain foothills above a fork of the Saline River, was and is a gift straight from God.

It was one of those exquisite fall mornings in the hardwoods with leaves turning and a touch of chill in the air. Translucent misty clouds rising above the stream were dissipating quickly as the sun rose. It was quiet and still except for the random Blue Jay or crow complaining about some imagined threat and for the clear water singing as it swept over gravel shoals. I was easing through the tall hardwoods and shooting a grey now and again and then I was able to get one fox squirrel. Well, that part of my prayer had been answered anyway. A short time later I saw another fox squirrel and thought "well I'm not going to try and answer my own prayer by not shooting this one". I tried stalking that squirrel but he dove into a hollow tree and never came back out. I finished collecting my limit with a couple more greys and was getting ready to wade back across the cold water. That's when I heard the sound of an aluminum boat approaching. It was banging against some gravel shoals as a float fisherman moved downstream toward me.

Might as well save getting wet again was my thought and after hailing the fisherman found he'd be glad to give me a short ride. We introduced ourselves and conversed as he sculled the small flat bottom across the current. I was amazed to hear that he was a member of a church in Little Rock, some 50 miles away, that my mother had taken me to when I was only a boy. That non-cooincidence from Jesus was not lost on me. What a special morning! What are the chances of meeting someone in the woods from a church that you visited twenty five years before?

Going ashore on the east bank I began to walk across the forested River bottom toward the ridge that ended at our home. It was still mild and the occasional few early leaves coming down were pleasant. I glanced down at the clutch of squirrels hanging by my side. As I did the magnitude of what I was seeing really struck me. To think that God could and would tell animals to run out on a limb before my gun in specific colors was dumbfounding. Just exactly as He'd done when He made the passenger list for brother Noah's ark, excepting that then it was by gender of course.

I dropped to my knees and right there had a small revival in that October cathedral. Crying and praying and giving thanks all at once that such a one as Jesus the Christ, the great creator really knew me. To think that He cared for me and would answer such a down to earth country boy prayer. It's in the simple things that we meet the savior, not some complex scheme. I found it was only about ten thirty when I walked into our yard. He had hearkened to my request answering my prayer completely. He really was saying "OK, are you convinced that I'm always with you and hear your prayers, Now, do you see and believe"?

What far out prayers do you have for our Lord Jesus. Say like finding your tax money in a fishes mouth! Wasn't that special. But that's too far out and outlandish for our God right?

I sometime tell doubters to ask God to do some specific thing for them and tell no one else about it. Then when it happens they can't attribute it to coincidence. Many have become believers after asking God to do a certain thing.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)
‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Jeremiah 32:27 KJVS
Behold, I am the Lord , the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

No Lord, for you it's all a light thing.

That's a good testimony you have Brother! It's in the small things that really drive it home for us. I have a couple along those lines...

I've always been a big coffee drinker. Friends who visited me always got offered a cup of coffee. One morning I was feeling sort of down about not doing enough for the Lord. I prayed, Lord give me something to do, send me someone to witness to so I can help in some way. 10 minutes later the phone rang. A friend whom I haven't seen in 3 or 4 years calls me up and says, hey Ed, I have a question about God. Can I stop by for a few and pick your brain? So of course I said yes and I did realize that He had answered my prayer already.

So I go upstairs and got another cup of coffee...the last of the pot. I needed to be putting a pot on right now if I was going to have a cup to offer my buddy when he showed up. I didn't have it, I was out. I considered praying for some help for more coffee (I had no money), but I remembered the scripture that says He knows what we need before we even ask for it, so I figured God will take care of me and I didn't pray for it.

10 minutes later, knock knock...my buddy's here. I answer the door and he hands me a pound of coffee beans. Hey Ed, what's up?

Just like that. Boom. God delivered me coffee to my door...right when it was time to fix another pot. Lol.

My buddy did not know I was out of coffee. I said nothing to him. That's how God rolls. Praise the Lord.

Another time, I had a doctor appointment in the afternoon, and by the time I woke up, I didn't have the money for the office visit and knew it, so I prayed for some work this morning...(I'm self employed). I needed work to earn the money for the doc's office visit (115 bucks). That's more than a standard one hour service call, so my prayer was very specific. Lord, I need a water heater replacement job today so I can make my doc appt. And I need it quick enough so that I can finish before noon and still have time to get cleaned up and make my appointment. (That's not asking too much is it?! LOL) This was around 6 AM.

So pretty soon, it's 10:30 AM and I'm thinking that, boy it better hurry if I'm going to have time to get the job done in time for the doc. I considered praying again, but thought, nope. I've prayed, that's all I need to do. 10 minutes later my phone rang. "Can you possibly change my hot water heater today?" You bet I can! So we packed up and went out to the customers house (me & my son) and on the way there, I'm thinking there's no way I have enough time to do all this and still get to my doc on time. Oh well. I just have to go with it and see what happens. We get there and I quoted the man a price (thinking this job is a cinch, I prayed for it, I can't lose...) and the man says, I'm sorry, that's too high of a price. I can't do that... My heart 'bout fell through the floor.

Then the man says, can I supply my own water heater to bring the price down? Just pay labor & parts?...Yes you sure can, take 400 off the quote. So he says, ok but I can't do it this morning. Can I pay you now, and you return in mid to late afternoon and do it? By then I'll have the new water heater here...

Perfect! I had the cash, made my doc appointment on time and returned later and did his job. The Lord is wonderful how He makes things work out...

I remember another one. Me and my son was going to work together to replace a lady's hot water heater. We went to the supply house and got the WH and supplies and were enroute to his house...and my son missed his turn and went an extra block. As he wheels it around, there's a cop and he's headed this way. He falls in right behind us and flicks on the lights. My son said, oh no, I'm going to jail now...

It seems my son had a warrant for FTA of some traffic ticket that he never showed up too. He could not go to jail! I really needed him for this job. I said NO, you're not going to jail! and immediately went into prayer. I didn't wonder if the Lord would answer my prayer or not. I refused to think that my son would be arrested. My son said, no you don't understand dad, I know i have a warrant...
I said, no you don't understand...I prayed about it.
The officer came and collected his license and registration and all that and returned to his car to run my son.
My son starts emptying his pockets and said, do you have bail money for me?
No I don't but we wont need it because you're not going to jail!
Yes I am Dad...
NO.

Here comes the officer. Deen, I see you've got a warrant for a failure to appear...?
My son gives me sideways glance as if to say, see I told you...and says, yes sir...
So the officer says, well I can see that you guys are going to work right now and I respect that so I'm not going to arrest you today...

As we drove off to continue going to work, my son says to me...Whoa. There's really something to this God stuff, huh? :)

I plant seeds in that boys head as much as I can...and I said, yes there is son, yes there is...:sohappy

Those are great examples of God's care in the day to day troubles we all have to face. He's an ever present help in time of trouble. My God shall supply part? No ALL YOUR NEED.

I was dead broke and my gas tank was empty and I mean empty. It was 45 miles to my job and I had to go. I fired up the car and headed out. I hadn't gone a mile when it started coughing and misfiring. So I began to praise God. I sang and praised the Lord for all I was worth. The engine picked up and stopped coughing. Smoothed right out and continued to purr along the highway... As long as I kept praise at a high level. When my praise level dropped that engine would start misfiring again. So I upped my praise and worship level. I kept up the high praises of God all those miles. I drove that distance on a bone dry gas tank. That afternoon the engine wouldn't hit a lick and I had to borrow $5 from petty cash to get gas.

Praise is a weapon I time of need!

2 Chronicles 20:21-22 KJVS
And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord , and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord ; for his mercy endureth for ever. [22] And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

God help me not to need miracles because if I need one then I'm in some really bad fix. He healed me 40 years ago of terrible heart pains. A visiting minister prophet called two men out for chest pains and I was one of them. We were prayed for and anointed with oil. The symptoms continued and still do from time to time even now. But I thank God for my healing and go on. We've seen Him do much that I don't know how many times He has fixed things for us. We have great things right now that we need His miracle working power in. As long as we are alive we will need His constant help. Glad to hear your testimonies and may your children all know Him, be saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit.

God help you and your family brother Edward.

That's a good testimony that you have there Brother. It reminds me of another time. The Lord did the pretty much the same thing for me as He did for you. It was a particularly slow period of work, and we was running on empty. I had an important appointment downtown but had no gas to make the trip. I couldn't pass up anything that came my way so I knew that one way or another I had to go meet that lady. I knew I didn't have enough gas to make the trip but I had to. I had to just go and have faith in God.

I had been reading lately about translation by faith and listening to testimonies about it on youtube and it was the only thing I could think of was to pray for and let God translate me there and back. So I prayed about it and took off driving. I got about half way there to my appointment when the cough cough of running out of gas started and I knew that I better pull it over quick so my truck wasn't stuck in the road. I coasted into a service station and into a parking space and put it in park. Boy was I discouraged in spirit, but these things happen sometimes so I figured I'll praise the Lord anyway and do what I have to do. As I'm sitting there in my truck deciding whether to continue to the appointment or start walking back home, I sorta absent mindedly pushed down on the gas pedal and to my surprise it gave a vroom vroom, and my spirit just went through the clouds in joy and I put it into reverse and said out loud, hey watch this faith! I drove to my appointment and back home without another stutter, no problem.

Some might say that I wasn't really out of gas, but I know better. I had ran out of gas several times before then and knew exactly how it sounds when running out. Luckily it was a friday and my son would get paid that day so would have some cash for gas when he came home. I told him the story of how I made that appointment ok and he praised the Lord too. First thing next morning he was going to go put gas in the truck (we lived about 3 blocks away from a 7-11) and it started ok but then he ran out of gas about a block from the house. He didn't even make to 7-11, lol.

I call what happened translation by faith even though I wasn't transported bodily or spiritually anywhere. The :Lord just let me take care of my business.Later on, I'll recount the time that an Angel of the Lord came to my garage sale and over-paid me for merchandise to help me pay bills...

I love reading and hearing peoples testimonies. God in action! Thanks Brother. God bless you and yours too..
