So what's up? This is pretty much another random chat thread. It is a hot day outside and I just bought some lemonade from some kids. I was roleplaying my favorite Naruto couple Sasuke and Sakura (Sasusaku) before that.

I thought that pollen in the air was affecting me, so I turned on 2 air filters plus the air conditioner. I think I will start up a third filter also. Hopefully that will solve the situation.

Okay, all 3 filters are now running. The house is moving toward comfortable temperature. I am trying to find the password to set up my new television's link to the router. Complicated.

I found the password. It may take awhile to update over my slow Internet connection, and may prevent me from using the net for other things for awhile. If I am offline for awhile, that is the reason.

The tv is updated. It works good with the antenna, but my Internet connection is way too slow to power the Roku built into the tv. Alas, maybe someday I will unravel the mystery of how to get a faster net.

I got bored and looked up what is required to become a charter pilot. So I could fly to resort destinations and cargo planes around the world.

And I got totally bummed about it.
They say that I'm too old. When you get over 40 your health card is only good for a year. (My health is actually fine for a license)
Where everyone else gets 5 years. So it's a form of age discrimination. (Old pilots get retired young)
It would only take a couple of years for me to get up to speed and certified with endorsements. But because of the age thing I wouldn't be able to get a job.

Most of the commercial pilots are flying smaller planes hauling cargo...they don't pay that much money... probably @ $50,000/yr. Big airlines with lots of passengers... those guys make the big bucks. (I have no illusions of grandeur and I hate wearing uniforms)
But not bad money for an old guy sitting down on the job all day. So I looked into it.

Private pilots license would be fun to have and hold...but it's a very expensive thing to keep. Planes are expensive. Renting planes is expensive. Smaller planes aren't out of reach but then it's easier and quicker to just drive. Small airfields don't usually have taxis or rental cars available. They ain't much more than a place to park the plane and get fuel. (Aviation fuel is expensive too)

*Sigh*

Maybe I should learn to scuba dive....

Old at 40???

Well now I feel ancient!

John flying planes, Michael setting up high tec and April drinking lemonade, role playing and watching films. What am I going? hmm nothing much!

The jet....it's a citation X1.... capable of Mach 0.95 speed for cruising. Also capable of going anywhere in the world without refueling.

*Sigh*

But I looked into some info on scuba diving today. Amazon has some good regulators for around $850-$1,200.

It's slightly more do-able than the 23.5 Million for the jet.
The good fins are around $175-$200.

Wetsuit or drysuit and facemask and snorkel and weights and bouyancy vest and GoPro and knife and gloves all the rest of the stuff sold separately....

Classes start at around $350 ea and up. (Gotta have a buddy)

I seem to have champagne tastes and a beer budget.
*Sigh*

Okay...
Been looking at scuba diving.
Lessons aren't horrible in price and you can rent a lot of the gear. But it won't be like the gear that you eventually buy. The gear that you buy will generally be better quality and adjusted to you specifically instead of the dozens to hundreds that used it before you did.

They have lots of classes.
Lots of certifications.
From wetsuit caps to fins to gloves there's a ton of stuff to purchase . Every inch of you has to be covered. (And comfort demands it)
But I think that I can outfit me and the Mrs. For around $1500 each...and the rest we can rent.
Then we can spend more money traveling to exotic locations to use our stuff.

Yeah....the temptation of learning to live with the boredom is real. (I'm not much for pleasure trips)

But the boredom is driving me nuts. All the minutia of life blows up when bored to unreasonable proportions. Like the washing machine went last night and I was ready to blow a gasket. (It's 40+ years old like the dryer which went out a few months ago)

Today I'm calmer about it.

And that's why I need to do something to occupy my thoughts. I've got nothing on the books for my non-profit. Not much on the horizon either for it. Money set aside for whatever comes up too...but nothing is happening... except boredom.

I almost forgot this thread was here lol :lol It's currently thunder storming out there and I'm waiting, and waiting, and waiting for my roleplay partner to answer my last part of the story. So anybody want to chat in the meantime? I'm really rather bored right now and I can't focus on my fanfiction when the suspense for my roleplay is killing me! I must know what happens next!
