Preface; The following story although being a work of fiction is based on the true story of the life of Jesus Christ. For we are told a lot in the Bible about Jesus. We are told about how He entered the world through a virgin birth, and how He grew up to become a great teacher, preacher, and prophet to the Lord Almighty. However, what we are not told very much about is His youth. For apart from the book of Luke, we hardly know what Jesus was like as a boy. We know that He was obedient and grew in wisdom and stature, and that He even had younger brothers and sisters. As I was stopping to think about what it would have been like for His siblings to follow behind Him in His shadow, the inspiration for this story was born. For what it must have been like for them to know for a fact that He was sinless, and that there was absolutely nothing they could do to match His inspiration. After that, I started wondering to myself how Jesus must have felt when Mary and Joseph told Him that He was the promised Messiah. The Bible never specifically mentions when He found out. And although from early on Jesus knew that He had to do His Father's business, He still must have felt extreme pressure as a boy knowing that He had to live up to those expectations, and even though in one sense He was perfect, in another sense He felt the same kinds of emotions that we do and this must have scared Him. For even as an adult Jesus begs His Father to; "please take this cup away from me." So,.. in conclusion let me first start off by telling you what this story isn't. It isn't meant to be extremely accurate a hundred percent as in that would be totally one hundred percent be completely impossible. And I'm not by any means claiming it to be true. All I'm doing is share my thoughts and opinions of what I strongly believe Jesus was like as a boy,... meaning,.. a normal child like everyone else. I believe that He laughed and played just like all children do, and apart from the fact that He was and is forever perfect and holy, I'm sure that He can relate to us in some way and or form because He still had problems not only as a man,.. but probably as a child as well. So, keeping all of that in mind, I sure hope to get this story as beautiful and accurate to the life of Jesus as possible, even though it is pure fiction and I really hope that you enjoy it and get something out of it as well. God bless.

See the next post for the first chapter.

Chapter One; The New Messiah

Here's a quick note; Although normally I capitalize Him and Son all of the time when referring to Jesus, this is only when He is being referred to as the Lord and Christ Child in the story since I'm also making a point of capturing the human side of Him. I just figured that I would point that out and explain it really fast. You'll understand better as you read though. :)

Mary couldn't believe the beautiful baby boy that now lay fast asleep inside her arms. For although she knew that He was God's Son, He was also her son that she brought into the world and she already loved Him very much. Joseph smiled down upon his wife and child while the star in the sky shone down upon them through the hole in the roof of the stable. "I can't believe that something so tiny is so powerful." he began as Mary smiled back at him.

"I know. It really is hard to believe that He would humble Himself to be so tiny and helpless." she said before all of a sudden the baby opened up His bright blue eyes and started to cry as Joseph stifled a laugh.

"Well, He might be the king of kings but He's still a child nonetheless. And I'm pretty sure that He's hungry." he told her.

"I do believe that you're right." Mary said before offering her nipple to the infant in which He hungrily accepted and started to nurse.

That night when Mary, Joseph, and their newborn son Jesus were all fast asleep, Joseph had a dream that an angel came to him and warned him of Jesus' life being in danger. Joseph quickly awoke and then gently shook his wife awake. "Mary!" he whispered. "Mary!" he repeated louder when she did not answer him and finally started to stir.

"Joseph??" she questioned him anxiously. "What is it??"

"Listen to Mary, we have to take the child and get out of here. I had another dream Mary, an angel told us that we must leave." he explained in which his wife nodded. For she already knew better to question the Lord's authority and that she must obey Him. She slowly got to her feet and walked over to the manger in which her infant son was now lying fast asleep inside the hay.

"Come on Jesus we have to go." she told Him before she picked Him up and held Him tightly inside her arms. That's when the baby started to cry again. Mary started softly hushing Him and rocking Him gently back and forth and bouncing Him up and down. "It's alright darling." she began before pressing her lips to His forehead. "I know that you don't understand this yet, and I really don't expect you to either,.. but God will take care of you and He will take care of us. For you are His Son even more so than mine." she told Him before she carried Him out of the stable and made sure that He was snug and safe inside her arms before she mounted the donkey once again. Jesus blinked His beautiful blue eyes back up at her while Joseph grabbed ahold of the lead rope and the donkey started moving again.

"So where are we to go?" Mary asked while she glanced up at her husband.

"Egypt." he replied.

"Oh I see." Mary began before a few moments of silence passed between them. "For how long?" she inquired.

"I'm not sure. The angel told me in my dream to stay there until he told us that we could leave." he explained.

"Why?" Mary wondered even though she felt guilty and ashamed for questioning him so.

"Because Herod and his men are currently searching for Jesus. They want to kill Him. Herod has ordered every child under two years old to be slaughtered because he doesn't want any king to overpower him." he explained. "Especially the new promised Messiah." he added before Mary glanced back down at her baby who was once again fast asleep inside her arms. That's when she silently vowed that she would watch over Him and protect Him and love Him as her own son.

"My son,.." she began. "You might be the new Messiah, but you are also my child. And that is an incredible weight on your shoulders that I don't believe you are old enough to carry just yet. So for now, you'll just simply be my son. My child. Jesus." she reassured Him knowing that someday she would indeed have to tell Him the truth, but for now, she let Him sleep in peace.

So what do you guys think of the first chapter? I realize that it was kind of short, but there should be more of it tomorrow. :) That is, if you like it so far. It will take place a few years later. So Jesus will be somewhere between five and seven years old
