Cool, I got to see it this morning! Wasn't planning to get up because I needed my beauty sleep :rolleyes and it's usually cloudy at night this time of year anyway. But I just happened to wake up all on my own and the moon was showing through my window looking dull like there was a lot of haze covering it. Then I remembered what day it was and realized I was looking at a full eclipse! Just a tiny spot was starting to get bright again. So I enjoyed watching it for a little while before going back to sleep. But it really didn't look like blood at all. Not sure where that name comes from. Maybe in other parts of the world is looks more red?

I'm not sure. Maybe it has something to do with the atmospheric makeup, smoke or other natural pollutants like volcanic ash and such. But I think most lunar ellipses are rather dull in color. I've seen near full moons before that have appeared a deep rich red color not because of an eclipse but rather the smoke in the atmosphere from a forest fire.

That makes a lot of sense. We have some of the best air quality of anywhere right here.

Northwest Washington State right on the ocean (hence the normal clouds and fog at night...)

Years ago on a summer road trip I camped up in the rain forests of the Olympic peninsula. I am planning on another road trip for my summer vacation this year to drive through and check out the Boise area for a few days, and then spend s few more days checking out the Spokane and Coeur d'Alene areas as well.

A day is like 1000 years. Signs in the heavens. Within a thousand years.....

Sun darkens = Moon blocks sun
Moon turns to blood = Earths shadow blocks moon

Full eclipes, Partial eclipe 1/3 the sun darkens.

Im not one who goes on 'signs of the end' and all that stuff as i got better things to do, but the sun does darken and the moon does turn to blood, with eclipe's.
I have seen fires big enough turn the moon red. volcanoes can also darken the sun and turn the moon red.

Back to the idea of a Blood moon.

The moon gives a reflective light, it gives no light of its own. In the scripture the moon is called the lesser light, and by its reflective light, the priests of old set the times and seasons. The moon is like the law of Moses and the old covenant, for the Law that was given on Sinai is a reflection of the law that comes forth from Zion. And there is a theme that runs throughout the scripture where the children of Israel worshiped the Glory of the lesser light to the exclusion of the greater light. But every now and again, the Glory of the lesser light is dimmed, revealing a dull red color, a blood moon to remind us of the life in the blood of Christ, who came that we might come to once again to Glory in the Father and the Greater Light.
