The Cross and the Blood of Jesus

by Mathew Backholer (2006), Section Four.

Blood-Bought Redemption

Jesus shed His blood so that we could be redeemed (Revelation 5:9) and be reconciled back to God. Because He shed His blood there are many other promises and declarations which can be appropriated and outworked in and through our lives (on a day-to-day basis) to include: our position in Christ (Romans 5:9 and Hebrews 13:12), healing (Isaiah 53:5 and Isaiah 53:10) and divine protection (Exodus chapter 12).

Jesus’ blood is imperative for atonement and is a powerful weapon of victory. This was achieved on the victorious cross of Calvary. Jesus’ blood is still as powerful now, as it was two thousand years ago. If the blood of Jesus had not been shed, mankind would not have been able to enter into a relationship with the living God. The blood is precious. ‘…Almost all things are purged with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission [forgiveness]’ Hebrews 9:22.

‘For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God’ 1 Corinthians 1:18.

‘But now in Christ Jesus you who were once far off have been made near by the blood of Christ’ Ephesians 2:13.

“Come now and let us reason together” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool” Isaiah 1:18... [full teaching: http://www.byfaith.co.uk/paul200922.htm ]
