floridas red moon thought not as clear as it was rather small and I had the camera on max zoom. it was hard to keep the camera steady enough not to blurr the image.@claudya

The moon always come out as little more than a blob of light on my camera.

You need a good optical zoom and a long enough exposure time, I'd guess like 0.25 - 0.5 sec for an eclipsed full moon (thus you'd also need a tripod if you want to be real pro because with a telephoto lens 0.25 sec is long enough to be shaky).

At least your camera could take it in at full eclipse, mine needed more light.
