Do we still have a firmament above us or did it go away with the flood?
Is the firmament just another word for sky? What we look at outside?
Could the Van Allen belts be the firmament?

I had read before, that our sky probably used to be orange instead of blue, but it held water and when sunlight passed through it it was orange. So after the flood the water balloon isn't there anymore and the sky turned blue because of it. Now I took that with a grain of salt, who knows? Could be could not be, but I was watching another video recently where they mentioned the van allen belts of radiation which surround the earth. They help serve the electromagnetics of the earth somehow, maybe gravity somehow too if I remember right. So it made me wonder if the Van Allen belts might just be what the bible describes as the firmament...

What do you think?

No those are not going store water, but protect the earth from cosmic rays and other particles.

Before the flood there were two water shells. One was around the Earth. The second is around our universe. After the flood there is only one water shell. The Scripture says that God ‘spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass’ (Job 37: 18) ‘the face of the deep is frozen’ (Job.38: 30)

Properties of the microworld intertwine with the properties of the universe. Our Universe can be compared to an atom. The nucleus of an atom is hundreds of thousands of times less than the distance from the nucleus to the electron cloud. No one can see ‘the face of the deep’. The most modern telescopes are powerless. If a person could become on the surface of the abyss and look at the cluster of galaxies and the entire intergalactic space, he would see only a small stare distance from the nucleus to the electron cloud. No. It doesn't cause those belts. It just holds them in place. As I understand it anyway.
but what's the firmament and what's it for?
Causes as it catches the particles, others form and are desttoyed by solar activity.

I'm a stepping on dangerous ground here but I believe Preacher I sat under nailed it. The next planet in, Venus, is thought to have a source of water to boil, causing it to be in an envelope of cloud. I thought, when he said it that was crazy but the more I looked into it, the more I liked the possibility. Consider, I found that the surface temp, was 400 or 500 degrees. But otherwise, Venus is much like the earth. It must have water or some other misting liquid because the clouds are there.

This video illustrates changes in the shape and intensity of a cross section of the Van Allen belts

Van Allen radiation belts (cross section)
A radiation belt is a zone of energetic charged particles, most of which originate from the solar wind that is captured by and held around a planet by that planet's magnetic field. The Earth has two such belts and sometimes others may be temporarily created. The discovery of the belts is credited to James Van Allen, and as a result the Earth's belts are known as the Van Allen belts. Earth's two main belts extend from an altitude of about 500 to 58,000 kilometers[1] above the surface in which region radiation levels vary. Most of the particles that form the belts are thought to come from solar wind and other particles by cosmic rays.[2] By trapping the solar wind, the magnetic field deflects those energetic particles and protects the Earth's atmosphere from destruction.

The belts are located in the inner region of the Earth's magnetosphere. The belts trap energetic electrons and protons. Other nuclei, such as alpha particles, are less prevalent. The belts endanger satellites, which must have their sensitive components protected with adequate shielding if they spend significant time in that zone. In 2013, NASA reported that the Van Allen Probes had discovered a transient, third radiation belt, which was observed for four weeks until it was destroyed by a powerful, interplanetary shock wave from the Sun.[3] wiki

It was those very pictures that made me wonder if maybe that they are the firmament...

lots of info, lol. That's good. Heading out to work right now but will answer later when I break free...

That's why they was trying so hard to find water on mars. So they can turn it into a big gas station for space vehicles. It'd prolly cost them (us!!) a lot more to set up on venus than mars.

Radiation isn't particles? Not even on the quantum level?
Well, I guess under quantum theory everything is a wavicle. By definition, radiation and particles are two different and mutually exclusive things. But we already know that light has a dualistic nature; it can behave like radiation (waves) or particles (photons). Were they thinking in quantum terms when they named the belts, or is it simply a misnomer? For example, "cosmic rays" are misnamed, as they are not radiation but high energy particles.

I was under the impression that everything is energy.
Steven Hawking once suggested that the basic building block of the universe was light.
And that sounded good to me, as in "Let there be light."

I feel certain your right on that, trying to remember the the orbits and Mars is closer. isn'y it? somebody, please, step on my right foot and let's see if the engine still runs.

I believe everything ultimately is energy, also, but that doesn't speak to whether that energy is radiating out in a waveform, or congealed into massive particles.
