The U.S. Government is after your Pocket Knives! In a sneak attack, U.S. Customs has proposed revoking earlier rulings that assisted opening knives are not switchblades. The proposal would not only outlaw assisted opening knives, its overly broad new definition of a switchblade would also include all one-handed opening knives and most other pocket knives!

Knife Rights was formed three years ago because we knew it was only a matter of time before there would be a major attempt to take away our knives, as has occurred in England, Europe and elsewhere. Little did we guess that the first major battle at a national level wouldn't come head on, but with government bureaucrats trying to sneak it by everyone, avoiding a more conventional legislative battle, which they know they'd likely lose.

Knife Rights is geared up to help win this fight, but we cannot do it without your help, your emails, your letters. The fight can only be won if we raise enough hell that they are convinced they will not get away with this. YOU are the most effective arrow in our quiver, the most powerful cartridge in our gun.

Click below for more on this knife grab and to find out how you can make a difference.

We need you to write CBP NOW!

Click here for a Model Letter you can send to CBP.

However, the reality is that CBP isn't required to listen to our demands, but they do have to answer to Congress. After you send a letter to CBP, giving them notice they are not going to sneak this by us, the next step is to inundate Congress with emails and letters.

If you want to be free to carry your pocket knives in the future, you need to write your Senators and Representative TODAY!

Anyone here have a pocketknife they want to surrender? :biggrin
This is ridiculous. Pretty soon, they may try to outlaw me carrying my tools in a toobag. Things like screwdrivers, needle nose pliers and utility knives may be outlawed or require a permit to possess. :o

Bourne Identity was on a couple of Sundays ago. Pretty soon they'll be after pens and pencils.

What about martial arts?

Well, they want our open assisted folding knives, lol.

I carry a crkt 'tiny tighe breaker' made by Bryan Tighe out of Colorado. It has a legal blade length and I frequently use it for utility purposes. It could serve as a self defense tool I suppose.

Now, if they ban these and others like them do you think criminals are just going to quit carrying them and give them up? :screwloose

Congress needs to concentrate on more important things, things that also don't violate the rights of law-abiding citizens. :nono

Exactly why the martial arts were developed, because of oppressors taking away weapons.

Of course with the way our government is going, Brian really might have to register his hands with the FBI as deadly weapons and be forced to wear oven mitts in order to protect the rest of us!

The butterfly knife, called balisong in tagalog, a woman's knife in the filipino cultrure is illegal in california.

Yes, chalk up another one for the ignorant.

"Those are scary and deadly, we must ban them so people aren't driven to murder."

:screwloose

What's next screwdriver's being illegal, and toothbrushes, slingblades, machetes, and etc, etc, yes i said slingblade as in i aim to kill you with it.

Sharp instruments are illegal in prison. People often get killed with sharp instruments in prison.

1 + 1 = 3 ??? :confused :biggrin

yes i said slingblade as in i aim to kill you with it.

LOL! One of my favorites!! :)
