Bible Study The Holy Spirit is a "Who", not a "What"

Why doesn’t God speak to us the same way he did to his prophets in the Old Testament days? Gods’ spirit spoke to many prophets throughout the Old Testament through pillars of clouds a burning bush a donkey or spoke with visions through dreams. Many fill that God is completely silent and does not speak anymore, but this is wrong as Gods Spirit speaks to us now through his written word as his Holy Spirit inspired those disciples of long ago to write down their witness of the teachings of God as they testified of Christ.

God has spoken to me, recently, through a vision and a few years back a Spanish Lady, Catholic, walked into our Baptist Church and asked for us to lay hands on her and to pray God would cure the, possibly, Cancerous and Grapefruit size growth in her abdomen. Seven of us did exactly that.

She went to the hospital, the next morning and her doctor cut her open to do the extraction. When she came to, the doctor was seated there beside her. When she was coherent, he asked if she had had the Tumor prayed over with the laying On Of Hands. She told him, yes.

At that point he fussed at her for not telling him. he s healed heraid that if he knew that he would have ordered one more xray and she would have one less scar because there was no tumor there to remove, God had healed her.

Today she is a Baptist Believer

Thank you Bill as this does testify to those who think God is silent and that the gifts of the Holy Spirit do not exist today. God is very active today as He was back in the OT days as He wants to move in our lives. It's just that many can not hear Him speak to them or feel His Spirit, because they have doubt which can not coexist with belief.

Exactly! My good friend, Missionary Jeff Mills sees miracles as a common event in the field in
Guatemala. The reason? Guatemala is ripped apart by MS13 and other gangs and the Government is not much better. jeff and his wife live in the midst of one of today's Killing Fields. The people, Catholic, are desperate for the Gospel and hen they believe, and perhaps because of the war that surrounds them every hour of every day, their belief is in their innermost being.

Jeff reports an event I have only known of once as being not uncommon in Guatemala among believers, the dead waking up when they are prayed over.

How great is the patience and longsuffering of God that He can change the heart of a scoffer and fill them with His Holy Spirit as you are a living testimony of Gods mercy and grace as the light of His glory has come to you and you do not hide it under a bushel.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
