How many people on here have Mardi Gras celebrations? I'm asking because in a few weeks we will have our Mardi Gras but I don't do so well with crowds so I'm not sure what it's really like and what it's for since I never been there myself. I think there is a parade and beads involved along with some fireworks but other than that I'm not all that sure and I was wondering if anybody has ever been to one and can explain what it is.

you going to New Orleans ? it would be different .. what i seen to t.v it gets pretty crazy i have never been[/QUOTE

I haven't been to that one or the one that's in Ohio. Like I said, I don't even know what it's about.

I've only seen it on TV and definitely something I would not attend. Bunch of drunks, women showing their boobs, a crowd so rowdy you can hardly walk through, fights breaking out and so much more, not for me. They have parades and fireworks, but the overall atmosphere is party hardy.

Oh my goodness. Maybe it's just as well that I have never gone there, I don't appear to be missing anything. I only drink occasionally, I hate when women try to seduce people, don't do crowds so well as I said and I literally can't stand violence.

i see that on t.v also actually i think it leans towards a pagan celebtaion

I've heard it called Fat Tuesday as many Catholics ate fatty foods before the day of Lent. I never looked it up to see what the origins are other than it being around the mid evil Europe time. Guess I'm not to interested in it.

I'm not sure whether or not the play on words was intentional, but I still found it hilarious!

Hi HR, It is nothing a Christian would attend (born again believer) It is a worship of the dead, voodoo and black magic. It is suppose to be a Roman rite, a Catholic holiday before lent , but is an abomination to the Spirit of Christ. a Christian who would go would not be going in the Spirit of Christ...unless it would to denounce the ritual as anything associated with Christ. (2 Kings 17:24-41)

Thank you very much! Now I understand that it is something that I definitely will not be attending!

what the term "not in name" means in that reply is Gay pride is not the name of Mardi Gras ..but implying much of the parade will reflect gay pride

Oh I see, still sounds like something I don't want to get messed up with.
