A little out of date for one. Funny how some people have an agenda to tear down the things that they don't like. Maybe if people spent more time looking for God instead of Satan they might find more meaning in the things they don't understand. That's not to say we shouldn't use discretion as believers, but the "thats from the devil" idea about any and everything that doesn't fit our taste only makes people look foolish. If you (relatively speaking) don't like it, then don't listen to it.

Any UK reader recall the 1st ever Greenbelt Christian Arts Festival?

Headliners, heavy rock gospel band Sheep were so humble & so practical & caring that they came earlt to help dig out the latrines

They'd all been in major rock bands in the drug scene @ Haight-Astbury when they each realised their need of deliverance

Their autobiographical musical, Lonesome Stone, toured UK @ '72/'73

I'll never forget working in Manchester prestige Govt tower block when Sheep toured the city centre playing excerpts from it before the 1st night

Back with links to medleys @ Poetry/Creative Writing Forum...

Here's my Lonesome Stone Medley

Texan gospel HM band Liberation Suite were similar catalysts in the Jesus Revolution

Here's my Precinct Pulveriser Medley, inc 1 of their songs & 1 from Sheep:-

It's the 1st of a block of 9 of my 11/12 entries so far in that forum

Enjoy!

Dear brother not maybe , certainly
GOD bless you

I believe rock bands are completely inappropriate in a church setting where we should be reflecting on the sacrifice of Jesus. The Son of God was tortured to death for us, and we should show reverence, not blast pop music and jump up and down. Too many people choose their church on how good the band is.

That said, contemporary Christian music can be great for settings outside of church.

....Heavy Metal: Early 70's - Late 70's
Message: Sex, no morality, and drug abuse. Lyrics openly promote rebellion, violence, and homosexuality. Satanic messages are hidden or camouflaged by backwards masking. Also, open sex begins to occur on the dance floors of discos.

Music: Beat and volume increase, driving rhythms captivate listeners. Beat or pulse of music hypnotizes listeners as they are fed evil lyrics. Performers openly admit sexual perversion and act it out on stage, contributing to the moral decay and debasing of society.

Main Performers: Kiss, Rod Stewart, Bee Gees, The Who, Led Zepplin, Elton John, Alice Cooper, Village People, Stevie Wonder, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Eagles, Jethro Tull, and Deep Purple.

...I havn't laughed this hard in years....oh man, my guts hurt!
Rod Stewart is heavy metal? lol, someones deffinatley got their info messed up!

That whole rant was a mountain out of a mole hill.

Why ? God does not care, because He is still getting the glory out of Christian rock, R&B, Christian jazz, and other Christian music.

Don't forget that gutteral singing, speed metal of the Bee Gees and Stevie Wonder and the Village People too! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

I'm a guitarist now of 18yrs. I played in a few bands in High School. I was into the death metal scene. I grew out of that (not my style just the lyrics) I now play acoustic, but still have my amp and my B.C Rich for when I wanna jam. God gave me a talent and I use it to His Glory. Why limit God on music? He's the Creater of it all. I hope to jam with Jesus in Heaven one day..

There are no neutral secular rock and roll groups
There is no rock group totally neutral and suitable for Christian listening. Why? Every rock group either directly or indirectly has songs with lyrics that according to God's standards encourage one or more of the following: rebellion, immorality, drug use, drinking, occultism, suicide, violence, and blasphemy. Name one rock group that does not encourage any form of evil according to God's standards! It cannot be done.

this is a quote from the site... SWITCHFOOT!
they truly do profess christianity... some of the things may be true but it really needs to be updated

I'm a 60's teeny-bopper myself. I went country when rock got heavy. Limit God on music? He told me once that He even likes opera. Go figure.

Atonement, I will be on the front row of your jam session. Jumping up and down screaming. Unless ya'll need some go-go girls.
When we get there, not only will I walk with out a limp, but I will jump, dance, and sing, fly!
Hallelujah!

Are you sure?

Not all worship is acceptable to God!

Amos 5:21-23
(21) I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
(22) Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts.
(23) Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.

Leviticus 10:1-2
(1) And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.
(2) And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

Genesis 4:4-5
(4) And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
(5) But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

I am not gonna try and argue wether or not christian rock is acceptablr or not, nor any other worldly form made into christian...but even psalms hymns and spritiual songs are ungodly in HIS ears when the heart is not right when they are offered!

We do what we do in our church, you do what you do; I wont try to sway you, but your sacrifice of praise better be pure from the heart or God does not accept it.

He cared very much that every thing was done to his exact order, it wasnt just unacceptable, but brought death to the offender.

God doesnt accept anything we try and give him just because we think he'll like it.

I think the one thing that matters is what the song is putting across. If the lyrics are praising or worshiping God, does the backing matter?

My dream Job is to be in a Christian Band, with the idea being worshipping God for a living. Does it really matter if i'm playing an electric guitar rather than an organ?

It comes down to this:

1) If it's for God
It can't be all about you, it can't be for your personal
gain or just another reason to be on a stage.

2) If you are right with God, then it's acceptable.
As preacher boy stated God does not accept worship
from unpure hearts.

Maybe even a little doo-wop!!

This thread should really be closed, we already have one in this forum of the same type.
