You know you've become something of an anime fan when you hear "Treader, come!" as "Treader-kun!" xD

(Treader is my pet dog.)

My ear hurts...my face hurts. :gah Hopefully I can go to the doctor today.
Probably swimmer's ear again. Normally I get in the middle of summer.

I really like anime, watched some with the misses, but she generally doesn't like them. She did like Spirited Away though.

My favorite anime are Akira, Ninja Scroll, Spirited Away, Ghost in the Shell, Tanch** something (I cant remember the name, its the one with the girl on the flying board and poison forest), Metropolis and Battle Athletes was kinda fun.

Anyone know any other good animes? Maybe christian anime or anime that contains good values suitable for children? I only know of Superbook :tongue

Other than Superbook, not really.

So far I've watched Fullmetal Alchemist (favorite), Clannad (favorite), Sonic X, D.N. Angel, and parts of Sgt. Frog, Lucky Star, Angel Beats, D Gray Man, and Bleach. I'm in the process of watching Oran High School Host Club with a friend of mine.

The only ones out of those that might be considered suitable for children are D.N. Angel and Sgt Frog, though there are a few things you might want to preview first. But those don't really teach values. I've watched about 14 episodes of Sgt Frog and so far there are no bad words. A couple of things some might take issue with, but IMO nothing really major.

Oh, and Sonic X, the English dub. I watched the whole thing a couple years ago when I was into the Sonic franchise, and it's probably the "cleanest" one I've seen. I have a feeling it was originally made for a younger audience in the first place.

Lucky Star.. would I be correct if I said you are a nerd or a geek (no insult intended)? :)

Well I let my little brother and nephews watch Duck tales, Gummi Bears, Looney Toons, Tintin and transformers, most teach good values with the exception of looney tunes which is just hilarious. I guess they are not technically anime though. My japanese nephews in Hong Kong love everything about Sonic :)

No, not really. xD But my friend who got me into anime is an otaku and I may become one if I keep watching different series. xD I've only watched three episodes of Lucky Star so far...I plan to finish it eventually, but I have others I want to check out first.
The first one my friend introduced me to was FMA and FMA: Brotherhood. And once I began to watch it, I loved it. Then we started watching Clannad. (Started with the After Story because it was the only one on Netflix.) She said people claimed it was impossible to watch that series without crying, and I was like "I don't cry that easily". Watched it and was often at least teary-eyed. xD I guess that's why I love it. They do such a good job with it that it impacts you emotionally. It's pretty well done all around.

I grew up on a lot of those cartoons. :)

I'd say FMA teaches values in a way. It has some interesting takes on morality and the sanctity of life. But it's pretty violent and main character Edward Elric's a pottymouth (especially in the manga), so it's not suitable for kids.

I would say most anime is not suitable for kids, Anime in japan is also adult entertainment which means you will have series that look childish for westerners but have horrible content for children to watch.
I guess I'm too old for most of those anime. I have always been a huge Dragonball fan, love everything the manga's and the anime with the exception of GT.

I would suggest watching Dragonball, it has very good values about self sacrafice, kindness, forgiveness, love they enemy etc. Its also the only anime serie my wife likes :)

Yeah. They have different ideas about what is acceptable and what isn't than Western cultures, too.
I've gotta say, don't search keyword "anime" on ebay. xD I did and got some results I wish I hadn't seen. (I was only trying to find a birthday present for my friend.)

Dragonball does seem interesting.

Have you every heard of Vic Mignogna? He's a voice actor for English dubs of anime, usually works with FUNimation studios I think. He's a Christian and seems like an admirable person.

Not too mention he is very handsome no? ;)

He does seem to be in some Dragonball movies which means I have heard him. Also Macross anime, now thats is a good anime, an epic space anime where a girl save the world by singing a song that melts the hearts of the evil aliens turning them to good side :biggrin

Also he is going to be the voice of the Nuka Cola commercial in the new Bethesda Fallout series :) This is awesome, thank you for this trivia :)

I know he voices Broly in DBZ. He also voiced Ed in FMA.

Oh, and I remembered another anime series I used to watch as a kid: Pokemon. My older brother loved Pokemon. But my mom didn't approve of it, so I quit watching it. Now that I'm not a kid anymore, I may check it out again, though.

I watched the entire first serie of pokemon when I was 12, there is nothing bad about it, its just not very intelligent but very good entertainment :)

I guess she was against it because some of the Pokemon look demonic and have powers. IDK. Even the school I went to didn't allow Pokemon trading cards on it's grounds.

My mom was against Sailor Moon, too. I never really watched that one, but it doesn't look like it was actually bad. Especially considering the English dub at that time was by Dic entertainment. They produced a lot of the cartoons I watched, and none of those were bad.

HATE having to let my dog out at night, especially when there's no moon out. Just about every little sound makes me nervous and anxious to get back inside. xD Although, I realize if anything were actually wrong, Treader would be barking his head off.

Okay, so first this week I had a head cold. Past couple of days it's mainly my throat bothering me, and some very mild nausea. Wonder if I caught something, and then caught something else right after...weird.

Anybody else ever given any thought to the possibility that Melchizedek could have actually been Jesus? King of Salem,King of peace... Hebrews 7;3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Who else could that be except the first born of all creation... Just a theory of mine.

questdriven: Best to keep warm and stay indoors for a while (if the truth is known, probably near the computer!) Blessings.

Blah, what am I doing up this early...?

Anyway, re-watching one of my favorite series...which happens to turn into a very sad story, enough to make anyone cry. I'm about to get to the saddest parts of all, and I have to keep reminding myself that it actually does have a happy ending...
