Knowing prophesy and how it plays out in history and current events isn't my strong suit. However the description in Revelations of the Red Horseman seems to fit today's world more and more then it would have 10 years ago.

Revelations 6:3-4
3When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.

In today's news I hear about mass shootings from both terrorists and people who are reported as showing no signs of wanting or planning these murders. It seems that the number of serial murders are up too. (Or maybe they are just being reported about more?)

Are we living in the age of the red horseman?

Red horse symbolizes Global war bringing much bloodshed to the land. The rider on the red horse takes peace from the earth and they should kill one another and there was given unto him a great sword: Matthew 24:6-10; Revelation 19:15

The power that was given to this rider is from Satan who seeks to kill, steal and destroy all that is of God here on earth, John 10:10. Daniel 9:27 speaks about a seven year peace treaty between Israel and Palestine. Israel has already given up part of its land in the Gaza Strip and West Bank in order to keep peace, but are still in conflict with Palestine wanting to control all of Israel and will continue to do so through much blood shed.

Israel’s disobedience to what God has already spoken to them in Exodus 23:32-33; 34:12 will cause themselves to fall into signing a deceitful seven year peace treaty that will be set up through an antichrist New World Order. This NWO will establish a One World Government system that will deceive the world declaring peace and safety, 1Thessalonians 5:3, but then sudden destruction will fall on them and the entire world in the middle of this seven year peace treaty. Much destruction will come to the world when Satan gives power to this antichrist beast to take peace from the earth.

The sword here is a literal sword John would understand it to be in times of battle in his generation dating back to the very first battle in Genesis 14:1-16 with King Amraphel and was composed of the combined armies of Babylon, Assyria, Persia and the Hittite Empire that fought against Abraham.

The Babylon Empire of that time had risen to become a Roman Empire in John’s day as they controlled the government of Jerusalem. It was through this antichrist government that persecuted those to death who carried the witness and testimony of Jesus as they went out preaching in His name establishing the Church of Jesus wherever they traveled to.

From the time of the very first battle in Genesis Chapter 14 it has always been about government dominance, possession of land and greed of riches through much bloodshed. The sword in battle in John’s generation could only be used as a one on one attack on the enemy as you would have to literally be facing each other and only had a shield to protect you. The sword has now evolved into nuclear, chemical and biological warfare that can take out many nations just by a push of a button by using international ballistic missiles.

The sword does seem more one on one combat, where as the bow seems like something faught from a far. I'd suspect that our war planes, drones, and bombs are better resented by the bow given to the first horseman. But that said, who would know? My figuring on the red horseman is from the drastic change in the landscape with regards to terrorism. It is a different kind of battle and there seems to be less and less peace because of it. It could be as you've said a great war, or it could be as the bible say it, without our known interptation.

Everything thing from Rev 6:1-8 are the beginning of sorrows Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:3-8. These are the first four seals that I believe we are in right now. The beginning of sorrows are before the first woe of Rev 8 that leads up to the seven trumpets of Gods wrath being poured out into the world. God has no need of mans military power during the seven trumpets as all He needs is to speak the events that will unfold during His mighty wrath.

There are three woes in Revelations as each one is worse than the other. The first one starts with the opening of the seventh seal in Rev 8:1 through Rev 9:12 that include the first five trumpets. The second woe starts in Rev 9:13 with the sixth trumpet and ends in Rev 11:14. The third woe starts with the seventh trumpet in Rev 11:15 ending in Rev 20:15.

Zec 1:8 I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in the bottom; and behind him were there red horses, speckled, and white.
Zec 1:9 Then said I, O my lord, what are these? And the angel that talked with me said unto me, I will shew thee what these be.
Zec 1:10 And the man that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.
Zec 1:11 And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.

Rev 6:1-8 is history repeating itself as written in Zechariah 6:1-8. Notice both the numbering of both Chapters and verses. The mountains could be Mt Zion and Mt. of Olives where Jesus will return and judge, Joel 3:12, 14; Zech 14:4.

The chariots in Zechariah 6:1-8 are war chariots with different color horses that execute God's judgement as they bring vengeance on the nations as they do in Rev 8:1-8.

The four horses and riders are the beginning of sorrows in Rev 6:1-8 right before the three woes of Gods great wrath that will begin with the seventh seal that ushers in the first trumpet in Rev 8:6.

Zechariah chapters 1-5 begins with Gods people to repent and return back to God. A while later Zechariah has a series of eight night visions in one night. The angel that speaks to him interprets the visions, but some of the symbolic is not explained to him. The first five visions are that of comfort and the last three are visions of judgement especially in Chapter 6 as these are judgements against the nation of Israel, but in Rev 6 the prophetic will be judgement upon the whole word calling everyone to repent before Gods great final wrath begins.

Probably, there was recently a article saying that the number of worldwide murders is at a all time high, that fits the bill don't it?

I think that we are much farther along then most think.

Hi Garion and welcome to CF :wave2

I will put it this way, the ball is rolling and it's gathering no moss as events are being put into place right before our eyes, but many refuse to see. Whether in our lifetime or not we just need to be prepared before Jesus returns.

You are absolutely correct "the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night" all a person can do is their best to follow Gods advice and have faith that they are ready when He is.

Thanks for the welcome.
