YUSUFALI: Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.

PICKTHAL: Allah forbiddeth you not those who warred not against you on account of religion and drove you not out from your homes, that ye should show them kindness and deal justly with them. Lo! Allah loveth the just dealers.

SHAKIR: Allah does not forbid you respecting those who have not made war against you on account of (your) religion, and have not driven you forth from your homes, that you show them kindness and deal with them justly; surely Allah loves the doers of justice.

060.009
YUSUFALI: Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.

PICKTHAL: Allah forbiddeth you only those who warred against you on account of religion and have driven you out from your homes and helped to drive you out, that ye make friends of them. Whosoever maketh friends of them - (All) such are wrong-doers.

SHAKIR: Allah only forbids you respecting those who made war upon you on account of (your) religion, and drove you forth from your homes and backed up (others) in your expulsion, that you make friends with them, and whoever makes friends with them, these are the unjust.

YUSUFALI: But if the enemy incline towards peace, do thou (also) incline towards peace, and trust in Allah: for He is One that heareth and knoweth (all things).

PICKTHAL: And if they incline to peace, incline thou also to it, and trust in Allah. Lo! He, even He, is the Hearer, the Knower.

SHAKIR: And if they incline to peace, then incline to it and trust in Allah; surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

Christian Terrorists:

George Bush and Tony Blair

And lets not forget the Crusades.

There are two sides to every story

Yes, there are two sides to the story. One evil, one "good."

Christians who murder in the name of Jesus are evil. They do NOT follow what Jesus taught. They do not imitate Jesus.

Muslims who murder in the name of Allah follow what Muhammad taught. They are "good" Muslims! They imitate Muhammad.

"By their fruits you will know them." The single biggest threat the world faces today is Muslim terrorists who are obeying allah! Killing those who are not Muslims is right in the Koran. Therefore, the Muslims have nothing else to blame for the actions of the terrorists other than Islam itself.

YUSUFALI: Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.

Here's my problem with this: it seems reasonable to be kind with those who have shown you kindness. It also seems not at all divine, but simply reasonable. It seems to be something that even the wicked can do, and often will.

The message of Christ is a great deal more demanding, and divine:
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?
Do not even the sinners do so? This Surah is reasonable, but it does not seem to me to be divine. The perfect law of Christ is divine, and monumentally difficult.

This perfect law also is powerful and world-changing. Showing kindness only to those whom are kind to you does not change the world, it keeps the status quo.

Iakovos

Edit: Some of my Christian brethren would be well advised to take heed to these words of Christ, and to pray for their 'enemy,' rather than squabble with them.

'Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. so please tell me, what of the people of noah, sodom and pharoh? where was the love for them when they were slaughtered?

I ask you, the Student, since I know that you are an astute reader of the text, who did the slaying in each of those three specific cases- God, or man?

I ask you also: Are Christ's instructions not divine? Do they not fly in the face of human reason?

As it is written "They shall beat their spears into plowshares, and learn war no more."

I ask you, the Student, since I know that you are an astute reader of the text, who did the slaying in each of those three specific cases- God, or man?

this is my issue. you claim jesus is God on one hand, God who slaughtered these past nations. yet you say God/Jesus teaches you to' turn the other cheek'.

these are contradictions and one thing we do agree on is the never-changing nature of God, am i correct?

and i say to you God and Jesus are NOT the same.

Why did you not simply answer my question, The Student? Who did the slaying: God, or man?

The Student said:

Instructing us to cease playing God and exacting justice upon our neighbors for sins which we ourselves would, could, or had committed, like hypocrites- this is well within the authority and character of God.

Since vengeance belongs to Him, He shall exact as He sees fit. He has not, nor does He change. His revelation to us does change: For the Law came through Moses, grace and peace through Jesus Christ. God is the one who will judge in the Last Day.

The Student said:
and i say to you God and Jesus are NOT the same.
I would expect you to believe that, being as you are Muslim. I say to you that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Why did you not simply answer my question, The Student? Who did the slaying: God, or man?

we both know the answer, God did.

Instructing us to cease playing God and exacting justice upon our neighbors for sins which we ourselves would, could, or had committed, like hypocrites- this is well within the authority and character of God.

when we live by and carry out the laws of gpd we are not 'playing god'. we are doing his work which he has instructed us to do.

tell me, what would YOU do to a multiple murderer?

I would expect you to believe that, being as you are Muslim. I say to you that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God

please show me where it states explicitly that the word was God? and also does god have a 'beginning'? think carefully.

TheStudent said:

Agreed. The same God who said, and I quote, "vengeance is mine, I will repay."

The Student said:
when we live by and carry out the laws of gpd we are not 'playing god'. we are doing his work which he has instructed us to do.
And here we have the crux of the problem: If one is to believe the teaching of the Messiah in these matters, one MUST reject the teaching of the Koran on these matters. The differences are irreconcilable. Interestingly, one finds the Old Testament foreshadowing the mercy that was to come, as I have established vis a vis quoting OT prophecies and dictums on these matters.

The Student said:
tell me, what would YOU do to a multiple murderer?
A murderer should be incarcerated for the protection of society.

The Student said:
please show me where it states explicitly that the word was God? and also does god have a 'beginning'? think carefully.
Gladly. Do you have a copy of the New Testament? Read John 1:1,2
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
Do you read Greek? 'the beginning' is the English translation of 'en arche.'
Arche="that by which anything begins to be, the origin, the active cause"
So 'beginning' means, essentially, the beginning from our perspective, the first cause

Being as the claim is that this Logos is/was God (kai Theos en o Logos), it would be nonsensical to think that this Logos of God had a beginning...nor does the text imply that He does.

To this day, this verse rings true:
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

What do you think of this statement that Christ made- does it seem to be the claim of a prophet?
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
Or this
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Now, should you chose to answer "Christians changed that, jesus never said that," my response is
How credible is it for someone to come along 600 years after the fact, and claim that the followers of Jesus had been wrong all along, and that God spoke to them about Jesus really said? How credible is that? How credible is it that Jesus' Apostles would change the words of Christ, then go be martyred for words that lied? What sort of men were these Apostles then- why should we believe their report at all? If they covered up Jesus hiding in a cave and letting another man die in His place, what sort of man was He, what sort of men were the Apostles?
Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, And like a root out of parched ground; He has no {stately} form or majesty That we should look upon Him, Nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.
He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither [was any] deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put [him] to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see [his] seed, he shall prolong [his] days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him [a portion] with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
What do you make of that (Isaiah 53)? Does the scripture lie, or was it perfectly fulfilled in Christ? Does He not make intercession? Has the iniquity of us all been laid on Him?

Carefully consider those, my friend, I ask of you.

Iakovos

Luke:
6:13 And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;

6:14 Simon, (whom he also named Peter,) and Andrew his brother, James and
 John, Philip and Bartholomew,

6:15 Matthew and Thomas, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon called
 Zelotes,

6:16 And Judas the brother of James, and Judas Iscariot, which also was
 the traitor.

-----
so please show me which part of the bible did the apostles write? i only see matthew and john

I think Matthew and John to be a pretty adequate start- but compare also Peter's epistles and the historical account assembled by Luke and distributed at a time when the other Apostles were still 'at large.'

Acting like Muhammad - Murder via a merciless flurry of shots

In the video, militants come across the injured man in the flight suit. "Stand up! Stand up!" an insurgent orders the man, who reaches out and says, "Give me a hand."

Then, apparently referring to a fractured leg, he says, "It's broken."

The militants  seen only briefly  tell him to stand up. "Weapons? Weapons?" the gunmen ask him in Arabic as he stands uneasily.

They tell him, "Go!" and he starts to hobble away with his back to the camera. Then there are voices and he turns to the side, holding up a hand. Then the shooting begins, bullets hitting his body as he falls backward into the grass. The insurgents can be heard shouting, "Allahu akbar," or "God is great," as he goes down. More bursts of gunfire then hit the body.

You have not, herein, responded to my point at all, but rather attempted to malign the Hebrew scriptures.

It is interesting that you find the Song of Solomon 'pornographic.' It is poetry between a bride and husband. The Greek term pornography means to highlight or portray prostitution. To some people, marriage is prostitution. To some of us, it is a Holy Mystery that speaks of Christ and the Church. To some of us, romance between a man and wife is something sacred, not shameful;something divine, not illicit.

But you digress. I have spoken to the verse- perhaps if you are too inclined to maligning Hebrew scripture, another Muslim brother can respond to my counterpoint without engaging in deflection and prurient digressions.

gary,
are you islamaphobic?

i can give you a million and one examples of brutality carried out by chrisitans but do i? no. just as the crusades were carried out by evil minds, so was the work of these people. because they scream 'allahuakbar' does that mean they follow in the footsteps of muhammed? no. there are STRICT laws of war and punishment. if what you have written is truem then they have OBVIOUSLY transgressed the law. think twice before you post.

also im dure you have been told before, muslims do not accept the words of Ishaq as being truthful! how hard is that for you to understand? you are only proving your IGNORANCE by continuing to post hadith written by him.

the moderators on this board need to squash this biased, propagandist hate. we are here to discuss, not to hate.

Tabari VIII:129 “After the Messenger had finished with the Khaybar Jews, Allah cast terror into the hearts of the Jews in Fadak when they received news of what Allah had brought upon Khaybar. Fadak became the exclusive property of Allah’s Messenger.â€Â

Tabari VIII:133 “The raiding party went to Tha’labah. One of Muhammad’s slaves, said, ‘Prophet, I know where Tha’labah can be taken by surprise.’ So Muhammad sent him with 130 men. They raided the town and drove off camels and sheep, bringing them back to Medina.â€Â

Tabari VIII:138 “Muhammad carried arms, helmets, and spears. He led a hundred horses, appointing Bahir to be in charge of the weapons and Maslamah to be in charge of the horses. When the Quraysh received word of this, it frightened them.â€Â

Qur’an 33:26 “Allah made the Jews leave their homes by terrorizing them so that you killed some and made many captive. And He made you inherit their lands, their homes, and their wealth. He gave you a country you had not traversed before.â€Â

Qur’an 59:2 “It was Allah who drove the [Jewish] People of the Book from their homes and into exile. They refused to believe and imagined that their strongholds would protect them against Allah. But Allah came at them from where they did not suspect, and filled their hearts with terror. Their homes were destroyed. So learn a lesson, O men who have eyes. This is My warning…they shall taste the torment of Fire.â€Â

Qur’an 33:60 “Truly, if the Hypocrites stir up sedition, if the agitators in the City do not desist, We shall urge you to go against them and set you over them. Then they will not be able to stay as your neighbors for any length of time. They shall have a curse on them. Whenever they are found, they shall be seized and slain without mercyâ€â€a fierce slaughterâ€â€murdered, a horrible murdering.â€Â

Tabari VIII:143 “In this year a twenty-four man raiding party led by Shuja went to the Banu Amir. He launched a raid on them and took camels and sheep. The shares of booty came to fifteen camels for each man. Also a raid led by Amr went to Dhat. He set out with fifteen men. He encountered large force whom he summoned to Islam. They refused to respond so he killed all of them.â€Â

Jesus said: "By their fruits you will know them."
