.... sigh..... how hard is it to just read the Word of God and trust Him ?
the millennial rest may be great some day, totally in line with all of Scripture, for some people (not all by far).

the Sabbath is the seventh day of every week.
this has not changed in 6000 years.
the calendar has gone through 12 or more changes, give or take,
but the seventh day has never changed and will not.

so simply put - it is a commandment. an unchanged, unchanging commandment. the Word of God.
the enemy has brought centuries of confusion about much of God's Word,
but he has not been allowed to change the sabbath day for the ekklesia. (only as it is written he changed it for the world and for the world church).
Yes, you are in agreement with the scriptures says, but how do you count from which day, Friday/7th.day at sunset until Saturday/7th. day at sunset? or Saturday/1st. day sunset until Sunday/1st. day at sunset?

Genesis 1:5 The evening and the morning is the first day.

My understanding of the Sabbath . If we follow the Sabbath according to the Jewish tradition written in the law , we bring ourselves under the law
Jesus Christ fulfilled the law freeing us . As long as we take a day , any day , and make it special to the Lord , in worship , we have our Sabbath .
Whether we are working or not , as long as we make it special in our hearts to God . The rest may not be physical but it is spiritual . The worship of God is always refreshing . We should treat every day as a Sabbath .

If a person uses the above times as a guide: Friday @ Sunset/7th. Day, until Saturday @ Sunset/1st.Day Sunday, Genesis 2:1-3, you can count and rightly divide The word of The Lord all unto him. II Tim.2:15,

New International Version Six days you are to gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there will not be any." Exodus 16:26

The seventh day Sabbath was established by God long before law given to Moses.
The day in the beginning was, darkness or Night, then light or Day = 1 full day. This is the same way that Jesus knew constitutes 1 full day and he is the root that we have been grafted into.
So since Sunday is considered the first day of the Week, then sundown Friday to Saturday sundown is the seventh day and is still the 7th day Sabbath just as it was in the beginning for God never changes.
Yet, on the Gentile calendar, that most of the world goes by, a day begins from midnight to midnight Darkness to Darkness.

The Bible shows us that after the Sabbath days ended, Jesus and the disciples would come out from the temple from trying to reach the Jews to bring them the gospel of the kingdom of God at hand, and they would go to a place together and break bread(feed on the flesh of the Word) while they had him with them. And continued this meeting on Saturday evening aka Dawning/Upon of the first day of the week until midnight.
And from the sundown Saturday was the dawn of the 1st day of the Week, not first daylight, but first day of the new week. And since the Gentiles day is still considered the same day of the week until 12 midnight, it is still the seventh day for those who go by the Gentile calendar day. And this is the time that we should be meeting because Jesus was our example and the disciples followed him in that.
If we say there is no Lord's day that we should keep, then the church should not be meeting on Sunday from 9 am -12pm and say it is the Lord's day that we come together and break bread(Feed upon the Word). For God never changed His Sabbath d
When it says "the same day, at evening, being the first day of the week" It is saying that Saturday sundown evening which was now Sunday the first day of the new week. If it meant Sunday at evening, then that would have been considered the second day of the Week Tuesday, for their day began at the end of daylight. So here Mary came just after the Sabbath ended and Sunday was beginning. We have always thought that she came around 6 am on Sunday, but why would she wait that long before coming to the tomb? She was out at sundown when he was take down off the cross because of the Sabbath sundown was about to begin, so it was not uncommon for her to come out at that time. And had it not been the Sabbath or 7th day as well as the Passover Sabbath, she would have anointed his body before it was place in the tomb, so she definetely would come just as soon as the Sabbath ends at sundown.
John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.
KJV
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto her.
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
KJV

Here we see Paul preaching until midnight upon the first day of the week. So again, this must mean Saturday sundown, for the first day of the week on the Gentile calendar begins at midnight. So which makes more sense, that he taught from midnight to midnight or sundown to midnight?
Acts 20:7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
KJV
I believe that while the original scriptures are totally Truth, the inspired Word of God, and I trust in the KJV more than all the other watered down versions.
But that when Gentile Translators translated some of the scripture Words from the Hebrew, they adopted the Greek meanings in Some instances that confused our understanding.

4afaithfulone you said "The seventh day Sabbath was established by God long before law given to Moses." What do you mean by this?

It is true that God ceased and desisted from His work of creating on the 7th day...(shaw-bath means to cease or desist) but it speaks nothing about man or what God wanted man to do. The word Shab-bat does not appear until the time of the Exodus (around Exodus 12) and in Deuteronomy 5 we are told

2 The Lord our God made a covenant that the Lord made this covenant, but with us, me.

3 The Lord made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day. (no others)

4 The Lord talked with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire,

5 (I stood between the Lord and you at that time, to shew you the word of the Lord: for ye were afraid by reason of the fire, and went not up into the mount;) saying,

6 I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

7 Thou shalt have none other gods before me.

8 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.9 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,10 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

11 “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

12 “Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the Lord your God has commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,14 but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant...and so on

Notice back in verse three the LORD says He did not make this covenant with their fathers (Noah, Shem, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the twelve sons, and so on) so please clarify what you mean thanks

Do you believe the Sabbath rest as given under the law of Moses, was intended to be on a different day than the Rest God indicated in the beginning?

Or do you believe their a rest for the people of God in the future, on the seventh Day?

1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.
2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.
3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest,' " although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works";
5 and again in this place: "They shall not enter My rest."
6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience,
7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, "Today," after such a long time, as it has been said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts."
8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.
9
There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.

Hi Paul,
I am merely saying that the LORD'S 7th day rest was on the 7th day from the beginning before the law was given to Moses. I am not saying that man has had to keep this Sabbath. But I do understand that God says even men are to let their fields lie for 1 year every 6 yrs (to equal 7yrs) to let the soil restore its nutrients and I do believe that our 7 day week is also 6 days work and rest 1 day. I also believe that the earth is made over every 7,000 yrs, since God says that the harvest of the earth is at the end of the age, that every 6,000 yrs, the earth has a Sabbath rest for her to replenish, such as we call the millennium or the last 1,000yrs that is upon us, so the earth can rest from all her labor and be restored.
And Peter says:
2 Peter 3:6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Hi JLB,
I believe the 7th day is the day of rest and will always be for that is when God said it would be at the creation of His earth. I do believe that while God is God over the whole earth, that He allows people to choose what they are willing to do for Him in the way of worship.

That way He can see their devotion and love without rules enforced. That is what is happening now, He watches us for our worthiness, Not saying that we are saved by any works, for no one could measure up to Christ.
But for those whom He has chosen those who please Him in their deeds, prayer life as in seeking inner wealth, and faithfulness to Christ/the Word as we are growing in the Word, and as we are tried as silver and gold to be the jewels for the bride/heavenly Jerusalem.

He is no respector of persons, for all have opportunity to please Him, but only those who love the Son can please the Father(Jacob I loved, Esau I hated). How can we say we love and honor God, yet hate His Word?
So, while we do not have to keep a Sabbath day rest, it is to our best interest to do so out of love for Him.Again, it can not save you, but God is choosing out a people to give His name too and His Truth must stand in those who claim they love Him.
Passover and Tabernacles will always be, even for the saved nations. Jesus was our Passover. And if they do not come up once a year to keep Tabernacles their land will get no rain.
Not to change the subject, But we seem to have forgotten that God controls all of the weather and earthly boundaries(We must not blaspheme the floods and hurricanes, earthquakes and the like, for they are the mighty works of God that we are seeing and experiencing in the earth, for they are from God, not the devil ruling God's creation) Jesus said don't look for him on the earth, but when you see lightning from the clouds so shall it be when the Son of man comes. God is also the one who brings the sword/war for His purposes of judgment.
The rest that we are trying to obtain, is the rest of our souls that comes once we overcome the temptations of the devil that keep us in torment and heat with no rest. That comes by remaining in The Christ of God to live by so that we can enter into the rest of our promised land of Peace, health and happiness of milk and honey. Pray for the peace of (heavenly)Jerusalem (in your life)

18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

The true rest will come when we receive immortal sinless bodies that shines like thd sun, whereby we no longer have the striving of the sin nature within our flesh against our spirit.

And all of our enemies have been removed.

When we rest on the seventh day of the week, we show we believe in the rest to come.

In Exodus 12 God gives Israel a new calendar. The new first of months, began with a new first day of that month. In truth we have no way of knowing whether that 1st day was our Mon, Tues, Wed, whatever, but we do know that from that day (whatever day that was in relation to all previous days), it was the day they would then count as day one of seven.

Now I have a question though a bit off course has never been answered. When God COMMANDED Israel to depart from their dwellings and leave their place to march around Jericho, blowing trumpets and shouting, for 7 days, which day was the Sabbath???? How did this constitute "rest"?

Concerning Jericho, could you give the scriptures you are referring to?

The 7th day Sabbath of the Covenant made with Israel is our Friday evening at sundown to Saturday evening at sundown!

Joshua 6:3-4

Now considering that at that time Israel was given a new first of all months, take a crack at answering my questions....Thanks!

Our rest is IN HIM who is Lord of the Sabbath. We no longer strive to obtain righteousness by the Law, but by His fulfillment of the Law. Our "rest" is from Sabbath to Sabbath, from month to month (everyday)!

The Sabbath day (Shabbat) according to the Gregorian Calendar starts on Friday evening at sundown and ends on Saturday evening at Sundown God commanded all who follow him to keep the Sabbath Holy no if,buts or maybes Exodus 20: 8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.That is a day almighty God commanded us to keep Holy, Period. Man not God is the one who has Exchanged Sunday for Saturday Even the Disciples of Yeshua and the early Christians kept the Sabbath. It was not until the Roman Emporer Constantine Declaired Rome as a Christian Empire started changing things around along with the Roman Pope to mingle pagan holy days with Heberw and Christian Holy days along with Christmas and Easter. It really all boils down to whether Christians wish to study historical evidence or remain ignorant of the subject.

A new first of all months was given to the children of Israel, but not Abraham.

The covenant that the Lord made with the children of Israel, was made until the Seed should come. Galatians 3:19

The seventh day is the day the Lord set aside as the day of rest, from the beginning.

The rest God has for His people is the 1000 year rest on the seventh [prophetic] Day, when Jesus returns and resurrects the dead, and removes all the wicked.

In that Day we who have believed, and have been raised, while cease from striving with a body that is of sinful flesh, and strives against the Spirit within. The will also be rest from all our enemies, as he will have removed them.

This is what the seventh day Sabbath rest, typifies.

Until that time, we work 6 days a week and rest on the seventh.

If you are independently wealthy and no longer work, then you are the exception and not the rule.
