Seriously? I don't know where to begin.

if caffeine is that bad, ban tea and coffee, theres no such thing as decaf for coffee and some teas.

I have not heard that caffeine has caused any health problems that lead to death. Not saying that it hasn't happened.

Yup, cigarettes are unhealthy, I think everybody knows that. It's a nasty habit. Turns the inside of your lungs black and gives you a nasty cough.

That being said, I'm a smoker. Have been for about 45 years. I smoke because I like it.
.

Gary, have you considered rolling your own cigarettes or somehow smoke just natural tobacco? The danger in modern cigarettes is the same with processed foods: hundreds of additives. Also, just do so in moderation then it's not really unhealthy. After all, the original settlers did not find the Native Americans who smoked tobacco running around with lung cancer (and they ran around in the sun, too, but they did not get skin cancer, either, but that's another story). But that said, they treated smoking as a sacred act, so you did not find an Indian smoking a peace pipe every 5 minutes on break, either. The key is moderation. Learn to enjoy that smoke for a few minutes say, several times a week probably would not cause harm.

I heard tea and coffee mentioned as "drugs" too. That's mainline medical establishmentalism. They are rich in antioxidants. They always dwell on the negative (e.g. caffeine, which BTW is not really that bad for you in lower amounts) but never on the positive. Yet, I have YET to hear to stay away from all the other additives.... colorings, flavor enhancers, artificial ingredients, etc. But Oh! these artificial foods are LOW in fats, cholesterol, salt and caffeine so it must be healthy for you! :rolleyes Yeah, so is plastic, like margarine. I stopped listening loooooong ago. When they start to speak out of the right end where the mouth is instead of the wrong end, I'll listen. But so far I haven't see any ounce of logic or good science, just junk science and agendas.

I like some of the plastic foods like margarine and Velvetta Cheese. Some Cheese snobs would probably slap me :lol

Been doing that for years.

That's OK, then just keep it moderate, like alcohol, the latter of which has some health benefits but not if one takes in so much they do liver damage. The same principle. If you been doing it for 45 years, then you are probably older than I am unless you started rolling your own since age 10. We only have to make it to the biblical 3 score and 10 and after that, IMO we are on borrowed time. Nobody can fault anyone with health issues who makes it to that age.

Here's an interesting take from my favorite Internet doctor:

If i gave up smoking i think i would be more motivated but obvious the govns dont want that. They admit it, and its a scientific fact it kills people yet instead of taking it off the shelf and offering subsidised rehab they decide to tax the crap out of it thinking if they hit people in the pocket thats where it will hurt, while clearly knowing the majority of people who smoke are the people who cannot afford it. Well the money side of things i dont give a crap, im use to getting ripped off for all i got and having no money, not to mention it cant save people either way. so there theory really dont work. They really care about there people dont they. lol. As all partys will say " Vote for a brighter future". LOL.

I do understand its my own addiction and problem and knowone else is to blame, but there the ones who feed it and allowed it in the first place. They even gave it to troops who served in war to save this country. Here have some free smokes. Once known its a killer they decide to tax the crap out of it rather than help people get off it and take it off the shelf. Who cares if there is a contract with tobacco companys. Its a killer.

Either Tobacco companys are greater and more powerful than the govn and i doubt it, or the govn just dont give crap.
Did the Alcohol prohibition really stop the consumption of alcohol? Not in the long run, it only increased the crime rate all around.

Prohibiting the sales of tobacco would only drive the market underground. It is better that it is regulated and taxed, and that those taxes be used to support education on the harmfulness of tobacco.

The government is telling you guys how harmful it is, but so many millions keep on buying it.

The responsibility and consequences of those actions will remain with the person who chooses to consume it, or perhaps even extending towards those whom they might smoke around.

Our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit, and as such we should honor it by refraining from such practices that corrupt it. Imagine going in to the temple of God and smoking, then realize that you yourself are that temple.

Tobacco was not a relevant issue at the time of the 1st Century, but such a clearly harmful and destructive practice would certainly be spoken against by Jesus and the Apostles. It enslaves it's users with a deep physical dependence, shortens one's life, and harms those around who also breathe in it's smoke. An application of Christian principles will reveal the error of such practices.

The decision must therefore be made, will Christ be honored in our bodies, and will we regard these vessels as it rightfully should be, as the Temple of the Holy Spirit.

How can you listen to anything that "Dr" has to say? William Campbell Douglas is the tabloid of the medical profession. He's the most notorious myth spreader, not myth buster.

His incredible ignorance of modern medicine is directly harmful to the people who buy his advice.

I would pass on this guy.

kiwidian you can quit smoking right now if you want to. It will be uncomfortable for a while but that goes away. Nicotine addiction is such a small problem when you have Jesus by your side. I'm sure what I'm saying is nothing new to you but I bet the medical community would rather have you believe that nicotine addiction is a habit that is much harder to kick than it really is. Look at all the patches, gum and medications that are out there. There is a lot of money to be made there.
