For a long time now, I've seen a lot of threads and posts that downplay God's Law. I on the other hand love the Law of Almighty God. First of all, let me make my post perfectly clear. The Law of God is not to be followed to secure anyone's Salvation!! The death of Jesus Christ, on the cross at Calvary, His shed Blood that takes away our sins, secures my Salvation and Eternal Life.

So, why do I love the Law of God? Thanks for asking me. :clap

The Law or Torah of God is His supreme revelation of Himself. A long time ago, I set out to search out what this God of my Salvation was really like. I knew that He loved me, but what else? I'd like to point to Psalm 19 for a good explanation and study source for all to consider.

Psalm 19:1 "To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
19:2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
19:3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.
19:4 Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,
19:5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
19:6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
19:8 the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure enlightening the eyes;
19:9 the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.
19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.
19:11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
19:12 Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
19:13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.
19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

As you can plainly see from this, GOD'S WORD to you and me, this is serious holy instructions. Just look at verse seven.... "The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple." .... Hey, did you see that? PERFECT!! Does it get any better than that? Remember please, we're not talking about a way to Salvation, NO, We're talking about honoring the supreme revelation of our wonderful loving God.

The Law of the Lord is a photo album into the compartments of God's huge heart. In God's Law, He gives us a "hard drive" into what delights His heart to see worked out in His Children's daily lives....I like what James instructs....James 1:25 "But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing." Hey, who doesn't want to be blessed by God in our daily activities?

Look my friends, it's been a long time since we honored God and His Laws, Commands & Rules. Sure, some are for the Nation of Israel and don't apply to us. BUT some are for us, and God is delighted when we mirror them back to Him.

I'm wondering, could you please look at some of God's Commands and Laws, and see what applies to us and report your findings here in this thread? Lets make this a Team effort and search & study to honor God, asking the Holy Spirit to help us? I'll be busy myself. GO FOR IT!

Beautifully written, brother! I am always screamed at when I try to show somebody the beautiful picture painted by the Law of God as I view the Law of God, I see Jesus, clearly illustrated. I admit to all that the Ceremonial Laws are for the Jew, but then, only for the time before the arrival and death of our Savior. But God, through the Law has told us how to be holy, but only if we will study, will we ever understand.

I always thought of the Law as the revelation of God's Holiness.

IMO, we must be cognizant of the Holiness of the God of Mt Sinai in order to know the Grace of the God of Mt Zion.

Thank you my warrior Buddy. You are right, Jesus is all over the Law. He was so obedient to the Laws and Commands of His Father, so His Abba caused Him to be the most powerful Person on earth.

Very good reply my friend. The Law of God reveals His manifold Nature of which Holiness is an important one.

Something I just thought of when I read your post.

I wonder if we shouldn't view Gods holiness as the foremost understanding of who He is. Then the other aspects of His nature describing why He is Holy.

After all, "Holy" means set apart. We often have trouble understanding why God is who He is. The nature of man has always been to try and bring Him down on our level.

To understand who He is, we must first and foremost understand He is completely 'seperate' from us, because He is perfect - and we are not. His Law shows this.

I'm not Chopper but that describes how I see God.

Thank you Nathan for that wonderful reminder of the importance of the Holiness of El, our God. I've always thought of "Love" as a dominate feature of God's Nature, but in thinking of your instruction, it is of course, a Holy Love. A human love can only express itself in limited ways, but the Love of God, expressed in Elohim, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, reaches all the way to the Cross of the Christ of God in dying for the Salvation of mankind.

I thought of that too Chopper. God is love. But as you pointed out, it's Holy.

I think it's yet another aspect that humans try to bring down on their level to understand. Honestly, I think a lot of depression in believers comes from their true heartfelt desire to know God, but never feeling like they can.

If we will understand the separation there is, and Who stands in the gap between Him and us, then we see things a lot clearer.

I remember back between the times I wanted to be saved, and when I actually accepted Gods faith. The difference between them was Jesus. I remember telling the pastor, and congregation, that the first time I made a confession I believed in Jesus - but this time I really believed that He died for my sin.

The first time around I thought that believing in Jesus was just a key that unlocked the door to heaven. The second time around I realized He was the doorway. He stands before the Father on my account - which closes the separation gap that Holiness requires.

Colossians 2:16 KJV
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Sometimes it looks like I do not respect the law enough. I formerly (years ago) had a Jewish style beard that would touch my naval. Jesus had his pulled out by the pluckers of the beard.

In the OP, creation shows the things of God
Romans 1:20 KJV
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Here we get an idea of invisible vs shadows. Clearly seen vs invisible.

Ephesians 2:15 KJV
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments containedin ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Inside the ordinance of not muzzling the ox is the reality of paying the preacher. So hidden it took Pentecost and word In heart and mind to open Jewish understanding (Gentile understanding would happen at Gentinle Pentecost). Spirit vs soul (I am not enough scholar to go there).

II Corinthians 3:9 KJV
For if the ministration of condemnation beglory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

The shadow of the schoolmaster is revealed in Christ our righteousness. Jesus cast the shadows ( you can sink your feet into a reality, but a shadow has very little substance).

Is there a glory of the law? Yes. Can we understand Jesus cast the shadow? Here is where everything is a parable to some.

Have we entered into his rest? Jesus is our rest.

Rednecks have to struggle to be able to trim a beard (mar the edges). I am a Gentile grafted into understanding the stomachs of oxen. Types, shadows, parables. Give me wisdom.

The rule of Law for civilisation is basic there is only 3 in the rule of law.

1. Self defence. Everyone has the right to protect themselves.
2. Do not cause violence towards other people.
3. Respect other peoples property.

If all people lived by rule 2 and 3 there would be no need for rule 1.

Christs commandment of love one another as i have loved you and love your neighbour is the complete rule of law for civilisation.

And a hearty, AMEN!

It written in the heart of mankind, but i guess it depends how brainwashed people get into following man made movements.

Even animals follow the basic rule of law. Look at the birds, they all live in peace, and sing together, and live in harmony, and leave each other and there nests alone, if one does violate rule 2 or 3 the bird uses rule 1 and fights the other bird away in defence.

Lol.

Morning Brother kiwidan.

You have identified a reason for not obeying a crooked request from our parents, but then below the law says something not new, but a confirmation of God’s law we read of in Lev 19:18.
Mar 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mar 12:31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

A type of not honoring our parents would be giving a supposed gift to God known as Corban while their parents were in need.
Now in Mat 15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
Mat 15:5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
And Jesus goes on to say in Mat 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

In Mar 7:10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
Mar 7:11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
Mar 7:12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;
Mar 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
