There was a time, quite a bit back when one of the greatest bible teachers to ever live walked the earth. His life as dedicated to gleaning insight and understanding of the Scriptures. He studied for years, its claimed he had a personal vision of Christ. As an adult he traveled around the Mediterranean pioneering churches. He knew a great deal about eschatology, Christology and the Kingdom of God. In fact much of his work involved a desperate attempt to teach hardened jews what the ancient Scriptures actually meant. Many of them were certain Messiah would come and be their king, and they produced many many proofs from the Prophets in support. But they were carnal ,and temporal in their outlook and missed not only the reality of the kingdom they so much wanted to see, but also they never understood the very nature of that kingdom the prophets saw in their visions.
Still one man reading the same Prophets ,steeped in tradition and personal encounters with the Holy Spirit realized the error that beset the jews, his countrymen, and summed it up is a single line;

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost

And it still is.

Too busy day-dreaming about ruling over the heathen masses with an iron rod. Oh yeah, and getting to teach the heathen masses as well...with an iron rod.
I picture angry nuns with iron rulers.:eek2
