Nexus 7 tablet. You can get them pretty cheap so shop around. 7" screen size. However, for pictures or text that are hard to see you can zoom in by touching the screen with two fingers and spreading them apart. I had mine going close to 4 years now and still going strong and love it. Perfect for reading in bed (and surfing) or going on a trip. Has virtual keyboard that pops up (half the screen) so it is in effect a full computer. You'll need a (free) google email account. A lot of the apps on on the cloud (internet). I also trust you know that this works on WIFI, right? Most newer stuff today does, so to use it at home you'll need wireless.

tim-from-pa reading what you posted was big help it made me realize the size of that keyboard just would not do :)
Do bigger screens use more battery enough to matter?

Reba, my sight is so poor that they took my license and I have a seven inch also and to read these forums I did as Tim said, I place two fingers on the screen and spread them until I can read the messages. After zooming in I keep one finger on the screen and use it to scroll as I read. Just whatever you do, do not spend that extra hundred to a hundred and fifty to buy a windows unit because it will come with 10 on it and they are incredibly more difficult to use.

Everything except windoze units are of the Nix Kernal and run fast and are easier to use than anything MS puts out.

Borg implant,resistance is futile

I suggest going to your local Staples, Office Max/Depot, and/or Best Buy and play around with the ones on display in order to get a feel for the different sizes and features they have.

We have a LG tablet with 10 inch screen for our kids to mostly do their online math and language lessons. They do play some games, but it is mostly for homeschooling stuff.

Android is the operating system. The software that makes it work. Like Windows 10 or whatever. WIndows 10 sucks, as noted. Android is ok. I use android on my phone and it works pretty good.

Android, like Chrome, operates on he Nix Kernel and is ten times more secure than any windoze system with your standard anti-virus installed.

I would recommend the Fire Tablet from Amazon. I love mine

My iPad runs slowly and things crash. I like the apps but a new iPad is $$
Your right papa, my Granddaughter has spent the money also and without, really taxing it it crashes much easier than my Android or either of my Linux Ubuntus. And last time she visited she liked my Ubuntu because it runsand on the kernel and Mark has seen the development of Ubuntu move very close to the development of Mac. And, anyway, what's not to like about free and reliable and Android, Linux and Mac all run on the same kernel.
