Disconcerting isn't it? Owls are amazing. And the babies are sooooo cutie pie.

I'm presuming this is a rescue. I'd be there for hours giving them pets and snuggles.

across the yard are a couple power polls about 50 feet apart... one is a about 4 feet taller ... A small owl had taken the taller poll for is " hunting blind" .. a larger owl would swoop down and knock the 'kid' off the poll...he would fly to the smaller poll... it took less than a week for the 'kid' to get the idea he should just start at the shorter poll... :biggrin2

those howls are rather like wolves, they mate for life. I came upon two owls, one was dead and the other was near it, I scared it off but the other was so fresh in death that he was still warm.

You've come across more owls than many people do in an average life.
I wonder, why do you have to share heartbreaking stories about them here?
This, and the one on first page where you said you came across an owl and nearly killed the thing. Is that something you think someone who is fond of owls needs to read?
Does it bring you pleasure to share something that upsetting to others? Why do we need to know those details exactly?

You know believe it or not some people live on negative. :shrug

owls are rare to see, there are few species of them in florida. often they move at night. I work at night. so at my part time night time job I see them and other critters. foxes, coyotes. they one in that siggy is similar to the ones I see most often. he was in the middle of the road. when they don't move at night they appear to be trash. so I almost hit before it took off. it hit the truck as it flew. no crashing as I didn't see him the next day or as I drove back through that road during daylight. I read meters for a a community to the east of the area where I saw this so when I had to go west I choose to drive by this road and look and best as I could. I don't like harming owls. interesting creatures.

I have seen the barn owl once, and the other pictures looks close to what I have nearly killed.

I would have called animal control to save the owl if it was still alive, it wasn't. so when I was done with my route I came back to see if it was still there and let the owner of the home know what happened. he was gone,

Owl almost hit by car. The exact thing as Jason happened to Lexy a few weeks ago. Ending to the story is POSITIVE. Praise the Lord! The owls were both not killed and neither Jason or Lexy had to feel bad about killing a beautiful creature.

Owl dies, mates sorrow. Another inspiring story of how animals do care for each other and when people hear these stories they are moved to having a heart for all God's creatures. I see that as positive.

We learn valuable lessons of life ie. Reba's story, about God's world.

I didn't think of that. That can be very true. Thanks.:)

Some people SEE the negative rather than the positive in these stories.

I felt sad for that mate of the owl. the first time I was close , real close to the touch and he was dead. he was bigger then I thought.

monica use to point owls and had me stop and she would take a pic of them. sometimes I did see them from a distance and knew what they were.

Not when one person makes sure the negative is all there is to read in them. The positive is that what someone elects to attach to them. Because they need to see beyond what was written as a negative. And therein is the issue. Some people do feed off the negative. If there was a positive in them they'd have added that of their own accord, so that good people wouldn't have to infer something was there that was not originally.

Or elaborated later when others took issue with the repeated inclination toward the negative as relates to the thing and still warm dead found owls.

sorry, I have seen death and war. in order to cope with said memories should I kill myself or find good in the painful things? I choose to find good. the death of the owl and how is mate reacted reminded me of compassion and forced me to ponder the way my wife would morn my death and I hers. forgive me if see good in sad times.

They are not cute when they decide they can roost on the pickup lumber rack and poop on the windshield.... What a mess.... we changed the parking spot... ... They eat rodents but they 'cough up' the bones and fur... the base of big maple in the front yard get littered with those 'fur balls' .
We have a couple types around here some big some small...they hoot to each other that is cute
