I was watching this last night on American Idol and I have to say that as somebody who has disabilities and had a friend with down syndrome herself, this really moved me and touched my heart and nearly brought me to tears. God bless Maddie and Marcus for being the prime example of the fact that although we're all different on the outside, we're not so different on the inside. :)

BTW, just a point of clarification. I have no faith in humanity, only in God. But it is good to see people showing love to others. I worked with mentally handicapped for nearly 20 years in my early years. Nothing more rewarding in my life. But after I got married, I needed to find work that could support my family. And then eventually I finished school and became a public school teacher. Rewarding work too but nothing compares to those years I spent working with mentally handicapped. Back then we referred to them as retarded but these days that's not politically correct.

Very good point. About the having faith in God thing I mean. But yes it is amazing how the love of Christ can work through others. I don't like the word retarded. I was called that all of the time. As I stated before, I had a friend with down syndrome, one with autism, one with epilepsy, and one with dyslexia. And my fiancée Joe has Aspergers, and I also have a friend with cerebral palsy. There is a quote that I really like, (and yes it is from Harry Potter) and it is so true.

"Although we come from different lands and speak in different tongues, our hearts beat as one." - Albus Dumbledore

By the way, I also wanted to point out that since Megan, (the one with cereal palsy) Joey, and I all trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, there will be a day when we all will be perfect and we won't have these disabilities anymore. Joey and I will be as smart as everyone else, and my friend Megan will be able to walk. Oh what a day that will be. :cross
