Try making friends In church when your passions is local history ,subset 1890 to the 80s.ww2 history to the point I go out aND find what is easily acessible.few care like I do for history

You mostly lost me jasonc. Are we not to do our best to be as Christlike as we can be at all times. . I know you dont think of God's love as a teddy bear kind of love.

Local history is IMO the best way to keep "REAL" history alive.

I am glad you are wise enough to understand that you will never be able to force a closed mind open.

Beach going,out door ,in door sports ,and also any 4th of July celebration.when I took photos of the 4th n
beer was there,I was right next it.when I went to the beach to photo jaci, and monica who left to Georgia. I saw plenty of eye candy, Shoukd I quit my job as i must walk to these areas to read.tempation is every where .I'm not saying you can or should watch TV ,others can. I can't but honestly the line we draw is arbitrary as all secular stuff in some shape endorses sin.

Reba I has jaci .monica and now autumn who is a bisexual both allowed their kids to watch things I can't allow but they do .jaci was more innocuous, with rosie ,she actually likes my era and older toons,Flintstone and warner brothers.so I can't watch them ? Smoking is in those .it's being honest .I'm not into today's shows but looking back ,my era wasn't clean either .
 
The running arguments for not watching Tim Burton stuff is that we need to avoid every appearance of evil.

I personally don't have eyes that are too holy to look upon sin.

(I like the Gene Wilder version better myself...and only elements out of Tim's version)

I love the horror movies... except so many of them are kinda hokey and full of porn. So I tend to shy away. (Where's Alfred Hitchcock when you need him?)

I love sci-fi and fantasy movies as well. So long as they are not hokey either. Believability is crucial....and ST Deep Space 9 and ST TNG don't cut the mustard. (I know they have fans but...I like the original better.

There's a verse of Solomon's about being overly religious. And it makes sense. If you "Jesus Juke" everyone, no one will talk to you.

In the world but not of the world is difficult. I like movies...I like literature...I also like making stuff for others to enjoy.

Just don't get the whole thing. Why people get upset. A movie isn't going to make me want to leave God, nor love him more...it's entertainment.

What you want to be entertained by and why?
That's between you and Jesus.
There is no beatitude about "Blessed is he who doesn't rap for he shall..."

And I firmly believe that those who like rap have no taste.

Well I personally like a little bit of rap as long as it's Christian friendly,.. but the rest of it I agree with you a hundred percent on. *chants* John! John! John! :thumbsup Woot! Woot! Woot!! After all, I don't remember the Commandment; "Thou shall not have fun and enjoy thyself."
 
i have no use for the alcohol drinks at all . i like to watch westerns they have fighting gun slingers killings along with drunkenness etc. i go to store that sells it. i dont have the answers this mornings message was about the influence of the world romans 12:1-2 . pastor mentioned rock music . i still like some of my older groups i grew up listening to ..seldom is country music mentioned .
so it is hard to say no to it all most t.v shows have bad language . drinking murder adultery . we see a bed room seen not completely naked but suggestive. good news is he has given us what it takes to escape the corruption of the world . facts are it does affect us when we lay in the hog pen. you cant stay engulfed in filth and expect it to affect you.

t.v program the company we keep has great influence more the company we hang with. whats sad is a post like this will go on for several pages .. i made a post of what i copied off facebook of what a former pastor wife posted . very few paid any attention. what we are discussing is things that could happen . the former pastor wife divorced as far as i know the 4 kids lives with dad . i dont know what caused her to snap but it almost ruined a family . to be honest rumor/gossip she was in a affair... i do not know nor do i need to..
question is there still room at the cross for her? yes there is . i dont even know the title of the post but let me tell you it is a real life event . sad thing is no one knew what was going on he was absent from the pulpit close to 2 months .tried come back it just wasnt there any more. the church had no idea .
he was trying to reconcile his marriage but satan had done influenced the wife they divorced 3 girls and a boy .
the choices we make today will affect of tomorrow and possible rest of our life or someone else life. we have a person that has private property that host a trucks go wild even. you sing a paper the owner is not liable guy was suppose to have hit a child.. the dad found out under the influence beat the other man to death. him and the wife was both charged she kicked the guy a bad decision went wrong 1 dead two parents in jail

the tos, while the best ahem was well full of kirk fornicating by implication. I do love the original but I grew up on those as reruns and the cartoon version. and also grew up on st:tng and the other three spinoffs came in after I was adult. I miss that era of trek. but its been 30 years and Roddenberry(both) are dead.
 
I also wanted to point out for the record that although it is a very good thing for Christians to be set apart from other worldly people, it doesn't mean you can enjoy the same kinds of things.
