It feels like there are just too many categories and the site is cluttered. Like the foyer and Lounge, apologetics and theology etc. It seems like condensing categories might make the site more user friendly.
Like testimonies, prayers and praises under one umbrella. Etc.

How about if we were to put anything mentioning God, Jesus, Saints, and righteousness under one roof, and anything involving government politics, Satan, and all other subjects of the world under another? :idea

If I had two file cabinets; one had everything filed by the first letter and each letter had it on drawer the other had A,B,C,D,E, in one drawer and F,G,H in a second drawer and all other letters in one last drawer. I would use only the one with 26 drawers not the one with three drawers. just me.

    Hmmm.

Apologetics was recently split from Theology. A good decision in my opinion.

However, you do raise a valid point. Testimonies could fit under prayers. There's actually quite a few under "Hobbies & Interests" that could be merged.

We'll look into it. Creating a balance between too many and too few sub-forums is always an ongoing process.

Under Christian growth, I would move the posts from bible study into foundations of faith, and put all the other sub categories under talk and advice.

As far as apologetics and theology, I'm a bit confused. Perhaps you could put one within the other as to clean up the initial appearance of the site.

Look at an iPhone for example. It's get a clean, functional interface that's easy to navigate.

Our site just feels cluttered, and many of the sub categories don't get much activity. So why not combine them?

I have to agree. Too many categories, each with different rules. Too confusing, too easy to violate something without even meaning to.

The issue with apologetics and theology is that they are distinct, although there is some crossover and grey areas. This is why they were separated in the first place.

However, Christianity and Science and Christianity and Other Religions are both apologetic in nature and should be sub-categories of Apologetics (something I have argued for but it hasn't happened yet...<ahem>).

I'm more concerned with the look of the site along with ease of navigation.

I use my phone 99 percent of the time. Like the site to the iPhone. It's got a simple, clean interface that you can drill into easily as well as getting back to the home page in a click.

For instance, if you insist on apologetics and theology being separate, make apologetics a sub category of theology. Why? Because apologetics has more rules and regulations and it's closely related to theogy.

Both good ideas. This kind of organization I agree with a lot.

I wouldn't go any deeper than 2 deep.
    Here is an example.

    Category trees
    Level 1 Fruit
    Level 2 Sub bananna
    Level 2 Sub orange
    Level 2 Sub Apple.

    This would not be ok
    Category trees
    Level 1 Fruit
    Level 2 Sub Apple
    Level 3 Sub gala
    Level 3 Sub red delicious
    Level 2 Sub orange

This looses my formatting when I post. :-(

Also, would there be a way to combine sub categories that historically have low traffic.

In other words, everything in gala and red delicious gets rolled into Apple and gala and red delicious get removed,

My point is that apologetics and theology are distinct enough to be their own main forums. While apologetics is largely based on theology, it also heavily uses philosophy, history, science, other religions, etc.

This is why Christianity and Science and Christianity and Other Religions should be sub-forums of Apologetics.

End Times could be a sub-forum of Theology.

I agree and never suggested otherwise. Hence another reason why what I just suggested above would work better.

Could you see science and religion rolled into one?
The young earth forum never took off, nor the history. They could also be rolled up.

As far as no more than 2 deep, I never suggested you were suggesting otherwise. That's your apologetic mind playing Jedi tricks on you lol!
