I was at a small get together church last night and the pastor running it asked for quick testimonies from those in the room. The hardest thing about that request is 'which one'. Should I talk about getting kissed by a cloud, getting rain from God on hot cloudless days, having God take my spirit out of my body so He could ask me if I thought He could take me anywhere He wanted, or should I discuss anyone of the hundred plus healing I have seem Him pull off around me. Maybe I should discuss the dreams and visions that He has given me. Perhaps the incredible answers to prayer that I have seen. I love to go over some of the neat little parables and saying He gives me. But maybe I should cover some of the incredible things I have seen Him do in people that I know, so that it doesn't come across as being about me. Of maybe I should just talk about something cute in or around my life, so that it really isn't clear God is doing and has done so many incredible things around me. That way it won't should like I am boasting, even though it would be boasting in the Lord.

I believe testimonies are important. And by that I mean testimonies of what God does are important. There were a couple of testimonies about how some child made a cute comment. That's fun and God made all things which includes little cute children, but God really does so many incredible things if we get to know Him and follow Him closer that I think we need to tell about those things.

Because I feel this way, this testimony section of the forum is disappointing to me. It should be flooded with the greatness of God, but it hardly gets used.

As for the small get together. Well, I decided to give a couple of quick testimonies of healing that occurred because of the specific ministry we were meeting about. It is not a healing ministry, but we encounter people needing help everywhere, and should they be prayed for? Twice at that ministry I encountered people with physical problems. I could have let them pass by and simply indicated I felt sad for their pain and too often I have done that. But God is great, so I prayed. The pain went out of an ankle in one case and a hip in the other because I took the time to believe God might again do something, and testimonies about the greatness of God came out of that.

Two people went away feeling substantially better because of nothing more than a faith in God that means more than just saying I'm sorry that you are hurting. One was touch by God so much that she was crying as the presence of God touched her. And both of them later told me how much they needed those prayers.

So I have wondered why there are not more postings in this extremely important section of the Christian Forum. Is it because we have too many testimonies to choose from? I hope it is not because we simply said we felt bad for the hurting people walking though out churches instead of believing in the great loving God we have and praying for them?

Having testimonies comes from the heart and soul. Not mere words my friend. Only thing you should really brag but in a good kind of way. Is your relationship and love that comes from Jesus Christ knowing Him as Savior and Lord!

I have posted quite a few testimonies here in the testimony forum. Most were a few years ago. God has done so much for me!

I believe that it is very important to share our testimonies with others. Aside from preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, it's probably the most important thing that we can do to show to the world how that God is real, and what He has done for us personally.

A quick summary of some of the things that God has done for me is

Saved my life.
Sent an Angel to my garage sale to buy 2400 worth of stuff (more than it was worth new) so I could pay my rent & utilities.
Delivered a pound of coffee to me when I was out.
Softened a police officer's heart to not arrest my son when we were going to work (my son had an active warrant that the officer did find).
Gave me 400 cash.
Changed my NIV Bible into a NKJV Bible. (Two witnesses).
Healed my dislocated hip.
Sent someone needing spiritual help to my house, for me to witness to.
Let my truck continue to run after I had run out of gas.
Sent me messages through people that I have never met (Brothers & Sisters in Christ), and gave them personal words of knowledge about me that they couldn't have known (to validate the messages were from Him).
Confirmed dream interpretations for me.
Let me find a great job with one phone call.
Let me find a place to live with no phone calls and drove right to a place to rent that didn't even have a for rent sign up.
Gave me words of knowledge about a man who needed prayer and help when he was in a medical emergency.
Helps me at work many times.
Speaking in tongues

And probably some other things too that I'm just not remembering right now. If you'd like to hear the details of any of these testimonies just ask and reiterate it for you here.

I have other things that God has done in my life, but more along the lines of chastisement rather than blessings, to teach this slow learning remedial servant to do right, but I don't post those types of testimonials because I don't want to discourage those reading.

Testimonies don't come from the heart they come from God. He is God. He causes incredible things to happen around us and in us. So it is not our heart but rather Him!!! We need to know Him. And if you know Him, He shows Himself to be God. He does miracles! He prophecies! He gives us incredible understanding, wisdom, and knowledge. And even knowledge about the heavenly realm and the Kingdom of God, and the Kingdom of God is kingdom of power!! We testify about God and about His Kingdom. We don't testify about our heart. And I testify about so many testimonies that it sometimes seems like too many to decide on which one to use. And I don't think I am special, so everyone that knows the Lord our God Jesus Christ for any period of time should also have sooooo many testimonies and they should want people to know about Him our Lord who does these things around us!

So where are all the testimonies?

Maybe Christians are looking to their heart and not to God???

Yeah :clap That's what I am talking about!!

That is God, And that is what it is like to know God!! :sohappy

I have thought the same thing about the testimony section, but then I realized why I don't post in there a lot. The things God has done for me would make me sound like a lunatic.

Yeah - He does such incredible and even strange things that it would that people would easily scoff at them and often do. We see that others sometimes do scoff. It's amazing, because often it is Christians that don't believe the testimonies of God. Never-the-less we are supposed to have them, and we are supposed to testify and pay attention to the deed of the Lord. We don't do that enough, and according to the Scriptures not paying attention to the works of God gets people in trouble.

Is 5:12,13 Their banquets are accompanied by lyre and harp, by tambourine and flute, and by wine; but the do not pay attention to the deeds of the Lord, Nor do they consider the work of His hands, Therefore My people go into exile for their lack of knowledge....

We have praise and worship with all the trimmings at every service, but what about the testimonies? What about paying attention to the deeds of the Lord. What about considering the work of His hands? I believe, according to the above verse, we have serious problems in Christian churches because we don't take time to give testimonies about the work of His hands!

At my church a group just came back from Africa. They had incredible testimonies. Apparently they held a service which several hundred people came to. Most of whom had not even heard about the Lord before. And God showed up big time. They had everyone whom had physical problem come up for prayer and all, as in all, that had a physical problem got heal. They said it a hundred to two hundred people got healed. All that came up of healing.

Now I pray in a healing ministry attached to that church and we do see people healed, but I would guess it is more like one in three, and that of about a dozen people, but not all! Thought there have been nights when it has seemed like close to all, but still it might only be seven of nine, at least that we could tell. So all when it comes to over a hundred people is crazy awesome, but Jesus saw that at times. Still in Nazareth, the town He grew up in, He said He couldn't do great miracles there and even He (God in carnet) could only lay hands on a few and heal a few. Could that be because we don't testify about God's deed like we should???

Jesus grows up in our churches, spiritually speaking. And if we don't testify about His deeds does it create an atmosphere of disbelief so that we His people can only lay hands on a few and heal a few? To be sure, I believe we need too many testimonies. Better to be safe than to have God's people go into exile, spiritually speaking. We need testimonies at every service in which we have flutes, harps, and tambourines, or any praise music! And we need them on this Christian Forum too!!

Ps 105:1,2 Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name, Make known His deeds among the peoples, Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders

The way I read it; That is a command from God! Isn't giving a testimony praising God? So it should at least be done whenever we praise God, but I hear the music and not the testimonies. By the way, that testimony from those that came back from Africa and everyone needing healing getting healed, was being talked about in the back rooms and I heard it in the small groups gathered and not in the main service where the music was played. Then again, they just came back, so perhaps it will be heard there also, but I doubt it. We Christians often get embarrassed about our God. It's sad!

So I loved the honesty expressed about thinking others would find us crazy if we testified about the wonders of God. And certainly some will think us that. But God's wonders are called "wonders" because they cause us to wonder about God. We need to make people wonder. We need to tell others about Him and His deeds. Otherwise He might send us into some kind of exile, and He would be right to do so.

I'LL start from the beginning. Though I am a product of rape and neither parent knew the Lord, He gave me a sense of Himself as far back in my childhood as I can remember. I tried to read a foreign language Bible as a young child. I only knew English. The Lord instilled in me a hunger for His word, and also I prayed though no one in my family was a believer in any God. I know, that I know, that I know, He has always had His Hand on me.
Praise His Most Holy Name. I've lost count on how many times He's saved me from physical death, from the time I was a toddler. He came through in over-abundance when I was broke with no food. He came through when we were was very close to homelessness, living temporarily in a motel. That miracle was just me walking into a small fabric shop, and the owner took a liking to me and offered a home on her property for as long as we wanted for almost nothing rent, 90$ a month including utilities. So we were able to get on our feet quickly. Many other miracles.
