I was at a small get together church last night and the pastor running it asked for quick testimonies from those in the room. The hardest thing about that request is 'which one'. Should I talk about getting kissed by a cloud, getting rain from God on hot cloudless days, having God take my spirit out of my body so He could ask me if I thought He could take me anywhere He wanted, or should I discuss anyone of the hundred plus healing I have seem Him pull off around me. Maybe I should discuss the dreams and visions that He has given me. Perhaps the incredible answers to prayer that I have seen. I love to go over some of the neat little parables and saying He gives me. But maybe I should cover some of the incredible things I have seen Him do in people that I know, so that it doesn't come across as being about me. Of maybe I should just talk about something cute in or around my life, so that it really isn't clear God is doing and has done so many incredible things around me. That way it won't should like I am boasting, even though it would be boasting in the Lord.
I believe testimonies are important. And by that I mean testimonies of what God does are important. There were a couple of testimonies about how some child made a cute comment. That's fun and God made all things which includes little cute children, but God really does so many incredible things if we get to know Him and follow Him closer that I think we need to tell about those things.
Because I feel this way, this testimony section of the forum is disappointing to me. It should be flooded with the greatness of God, but it hardly gets used.
As for the small get together. Well, I decided to give a couple of quick testimonies of healing that occurred because of the specific ministry we were meeting about. It is not a healing ministry, but we encounter people needing help everywhere, and should they be prayed for? Twice at that ministry I encountered people with physical problems. I could have let them pass by and simply indicated I felt sad for their pain and too often I have done that. But God is great, so I prayed. The pain went out of an ankle in one case and a hip in the other because I took the time to believe God might again do something, and testimonies about the greatness of God came out of that.
Two people went away feeling substantially better because of nothing more than a faith in God that means more than just saying I'm sorry that you are hurting. One was touch by God so much that she was crying as the presence of God touched her. And both of them later told me how much they needed those prayers.
So I have wondered why there are not more postings in this extremely important section of the Christian Forum. Is it because we have too many testimonies to choose from? I hope it is not because we simply said we felt bad for the hurting people walking though out churches instead of believing in the great loving God we have and praying for them?
