proverbs 22:
6 Teach a youth about the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it.
this sounds like one of those name it claim it scriptures . as long as i take my child to Church and they get saved. they will stay in church.
o how i wish this was exactly what it means .. lets look at the word train --dedicate /devote/ commit and or consecrate. which has about the same meaning . i commented on this some yesterday... lets look at the worldly side.. i can train my child home.... yes and no yes home training dedicating is only half of it... we take them to church and Sunday school put them in a class room to learn about Jesus. we them bring them to church in most cases today they have children church . i am a strong advocate gifted teacher that do ministry can break it down to a level of understanding . the other step is living it before them / walk the walk not just talk the talk , something we are all guilty of at one time or another.. pray over those kids.. teach them to pray mainly by example . before i got saved we had our son..my wife took him to church from a baby on. when i was not going she took him upfront placed him on the altar in his carrier and prayed over him.. today thirty some years later he still goes .
there will be those who trained walked the walk did all that they could and later on the child decided not to go any more. see in this training dedicating it does give a full %100 assurance.. what it does give .is a type landmark a road atlas/ today a GPS to go by if the leave. they will know the way home and how to get there. had not my wife stayed in church "she did get out for a while" but got back when our son was born. had she not returned odds are i would not be saved...
we can see Timothy was trained instructed in the way by gma and mom
2 Timothy 1

5 clearly recalling your sincere faith that first lived in your grandmother Lois, then in your mother Eunice, and that I am convinced is in you also.
, 2 Timothy 3:14 -15 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed. You know those who taught you,
15. and you know that from childhood you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus paul is saying hang with what you was taught by gma and mom both
this is just a high lite of the message in the morning. agree disagree try to discredit if like.. but the word of God stands behind this mini message . i also stand by it i stand on the THE rock..

If a child is brought up in the Church and their parents instill those values of the love of Christ in them in a loving manner within the home then later in life they are more likely to remain walking in Christ.

On the other hand if a child is only taken to Church, but yet is not given the proper training at home they will soon walk away as I did when I was fourteen. There was no mention of Christ in our household and Church was just a place to go and have fun with other kids until I was 14 and was bored with it. I just sat there like a lump on a log hearing the same feel good sermons every Sunday. I wasn't getting anything out of it so I thought why keep going. The church I attended as a child never taught God's Salvation or being Spiritually born again.

When I was 17 way back in 1972 a friend of mine invited me to his church and I went. From that day on I would over the years truly come into that Spiritual relationship with Christ as I finally heard God calling me to Him. It was a struggle for many years as an off again, on again relationship as Satan fought hard for me to lose, but God never gave up on me even though I gave up on Him at times in the past.

Anyway, all you Christian parents had better be training up your child at home and spare them the hell I went through in life while finding my way to Christ.

train at home and take them to a bible teaching church a spiritual church will help produce spiritual fruit . i know a few ministers who live the life but the kids will not go

I hear ya. I use to have a wonderful Pastor years ago that everyone loved, but he had a very dysfunctional family including his wife who would not even go to Church. To him God came first and his family second and they did not like that.

We need more Churches like the Church of Philadelphia.

the role of a pastor is not what many see on the surface church we attend children of the pastor daughter is alcoholic..been through drug rehab son been in trouble doing time for crime.. still yet if we show them the right way church attendance--in a good spiritual church and do our best to live the word like we should . then it will always be there as a landmark . its up to then to get back on the road of life we are limited in what we can do
