Do you think it is worth buying a truck or SUV without 4wd? My way of thinking is if you're buying something that big, you're buying it for the 4wd BUT 2wd are much cheaper. So it is worth buying something bigger and not have 4wd?

It depends on application. I have a 4WD Jeep but I need it seeing as my driveway is long and unpaved, also i tend to take it off road often to get into the back country. I would not be able to do that without my 4WD.

Here is my ride. (well my 4WD one anyway)

Oh man...I've been trying to locate a Jeep Cherokee forever and ever...they are hard to comeby nowadays with low mileage.

Well, I don't necessarily need 4wd. I do all city driving and we don't get snow here but I get to thinking that I might need it one day so why buy a large vehicle without it? I drive a Civic coupe and I'm looking to upgrade eventually to more "family friendly" vehicle with more trunk space and I love trucks.

4wd is a means of off-road or treacherous road condition transportation ( or simply for more traction).

a truck has a bed that you can haul things in.

each have their own positives and negatives. If you don't need to haul things in a bed, you don't really need a truck.

You never know...

I don't want a huge truck or even a truck in general. I'm actually in love with Toyota 4Runners and Chevy Tahoes. As for trucks I'm interested in Toyota Tacoma's and Nissan Frontiers

We have to have 4x4 on our vehicles, can't do the winters here without it. But, if you really want an SUV or Truck, you might as well get the 4x4 if you can stand the added expense of it. As you say, you never know. You might want to go camping in the Sandia Mountains or something. Sometimes life isn't always about what you need.

I have a 2wd frontier( stick) it's good but not enough power for the mountianous regions of the U.S. I traveled all the way from Florida to Missouri and back, recently did a trip to Kentucky. It did ok. If you absolutely need a 4wd then get one. If not stick with a 2wd :salute

We just bought a truck last night. We had a Subaru Legacy but it just didn't have the staying power for the driving conditions we put our vehicles through. It started costing us more to keep it running than it was worth. So, here is my hubby's ride:

It doesn't get great gas mileage, but better than larger 4x4's and there is room in the back for the kids and the dog. Since he puts about 120 miles on his vehicle a day, he needs something that can get fairly decent gas and yet had enough engine in it to get up our driveway at the end of the drive.

This is a 04 Ford 150xl. It's pretty nice and the price was very good. You might want to take one for a spin, Raquel.

In your part of the country, 4WD is a nice feature but mostly unnecessary.

I wouldn't spend the extra money. That money is better spent on upgraded tires.
