Should you take Tylenol, Advil, or aspirin for pain? Here's what the evidence says.

So ibuprofen works best for most people, but should be used only in moderation. Makes sense. Ibuprofen reduces inflammation, so it would help the arthritis crowd the best. Reducing inflammation might also help with some types of with headaches.

What surprised me is that ibuprofen only works for 50% of the population. Aspirin and acetaminophen work for even fewer people.

Ibuprofen does not reduce inflammation like Prednisone period. Prednisone is king in that department.

Motrin works for me pain

beer, lots of beer for the pain. that will stress test the liver for sure.

That's true for the most part, but it made my toothache BAD when I drank it!! :lol The thing that relieved it was Relieve which ironically did nothing for a bad backache I had years ago, and I did not think the stuff worked. But I was desperate to abate the pain until I went to the dentist to find out what was going on. It worked and the pain did not come back! The dentist offered to do a root canal, but I rather pull it as a root canal is basically a dead tooth in the mouth and can cause sickness in some people, including heart disease. Since it did not hurt by the time I got there, I said let's x-ray it to make sure there's no infection. They could not find a thing wrong, so I said let it alone. Long story short, we think it was just nerve trauma. I was biting on hard carrots a week or two before -- the kind of crunch that makes your teeth clamp down hard.

If I do take a pain reliever, it's usually Advil (related to aspirin). I rather bleed internally than get liver damage from Tylenol, especially since I drink alcohol moderately. But I live healthy and take lots of vitamins. I don't take many drugs and refuse to go on them (prescription) long term. When I do take OTC (and that is not often) it just flags me I'm doing something wrong and I have to stop it.

Tylenol. It's less damaging to the kidneys
But Mike, I read and an old doctor friend confirmed, it is death to the liver. Before we began to synthesize, the native Americans chewed Willow Bark (Asprin) for pain and without side effects. God provided all we need but, disobedient and greedy to the end, we are ?doing? better when we manufactured?

Hmmm! White man and Black man arrogant?

It really depends on your level of pain, regarding what i would recommend.
If you are really hurting, cracked rib or Shingles nerve pain for example, and you want to avoid Lortab (Opioids), then go with Naproxen which is an over the counter pain reliever.
