Hi everyone, I am new to the forums so I thought I would drop in and put something out here that's been on my mind a heck of a lot for the past few months.

Ok well heres the problem I am dealing with:

I am a Jesus freak and I am not afraid to show it, but I dont go Jesus this and that in people's faces because I know a lot of people don't want to hear about it and if they do they will ask. I am a active duty United States Marine and as you may know... its no place for a Christian like me but I make the best of it.

So, I am pretty much stuck to going on base to church, but I hate it because not only do I work with these people all the time, I gotta be around them all the time and then go to church with them. I am not, to say the least, to thrilled to go to church here... its not really my style of how they operate. So what I have been doing is just keeping in the word everyday and praying everyday. I know this is bad of me and I asked God for forgiveness. I try my hardest and I know He sees that.

Ok finally to the actual basis of the topic.. I have been looking to start going out with girls and I want her to share the same faith that I do. Its hard to find one on base and I currently have no car to get off base but I am buying one soon (my old car is back home). It seems like from most women I met that say they are Christian is that they are either too extreme or not real in what they say. I dont know, maybe its the lack of maturity in girls my age (almost 20) but jeeez its starting to frustrate me. It would be nice to have someone to share and grow in my faith with because there is no one here that I work with and live with that are like me. And I know once I get off base chicks are just going to be "oh jeez another Marine" the haircuts give me away.

Sorry about my rant, I just needed to get that off me. Its nice to read through this site; thought I would just share whats going on with me. Thank you.

PS. for any of the hardcharger jarheads on here I have been in for only a year and a half. Semper Fi.

Welcome to the site! I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I'm in the military as well (army though, not marines) and deployed to Afghanistan right now

It can be VERY difficult to be a Christian in the military, believe me..I know..
I actually became one in the military, so I went from living one lifestyle to one
very different lifestyle but still being around the same people.. and they didn't
really know what to think.

but anyway

I KNOW it can be hard to find people in the military, relationships, even friendships.. etc
but Keep Trusting God.. easier said than done, I know.. but hang in there

Loneliness seems to be one of the biggest issues in the military,
at least from what I see over here.. but you are still young (I'm
not trying to sound like I am talking down to you, we are about the
same age) and have faith that the Lord will provide you with someone
to be with and love forever

I know what you mean though, it's a tough situation
and it's hard to just keep going everyday not having
anyone at all..
but it's times like this when we need to recognize our dependence
on the Lord and know He will provide for all of our needs

Waiting is so hard, reminds me of the song "While I Wait" by John
Waller..

(these are the lyrics)
http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/fireproo ... aiting.htm

but the part that says "I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful"

that is so true.. hang in there.. I will keep you in my prayers!
