Some believers have been so inundated and indoctrinated by the charisma of man, they can't move on in God.
To move on in God they will have to unlearn most of what they know and have been taught as gospel.
The unlearning process can be one of the hardest things a believer will ever go through.
The thing about understanding is, you can put it all on a shelf and what you need for Christian living you can take back in time.
It will not kill you, you may feel like it at the time, but you will live.
The important thing is to go through the unlearning, so you can be taught correctly by the HolySpirit.
It is not an easy process, Christians can spend years trying to make the things they have been taught work, to no avail.
Bits and pieces, parts have worked, but a far cry from what they read about in the scriptures.
Left waning and wanting to find out how to put it all together.
Then there are those that hear the message and know by the Spirit they must make a change.
They have tried everything and still there is a hunger in their hearts for their Father.
They are the ones that hear His voice calling, deep calleth to deep.
They are the ones ready to surrender all and move on, no doctrine, no man has been able to satisfy that hunger, only the longing heart crying out for their Father, Abba Father, my Father my Father.

You know Soul man, I kind of agree with you, but sometimes I wonder what those that say this are speaking about.

You say we need to unlearn.
You say we should not learn from men.
And that the Holy Spirit will teach us.

If that's true, then why don't we all believe the same doctrine?

How could we learn if NOT from man?
Would you know about the Holy Trinity from only the Holy Spirit?
Would you know the difference from justification and sanctification from only the Holy Spirit?
I don't think so since Paul spoke interchangeably about both and it took theologians to sort it out.

Why would I not trust man?
Those who studied for years, the language spoken, the cultural meaning, etc.
Isn't this what hermeunetics is all about?
And what about theology? The study of God. Do we not need that either?

We need to understand God spiritually.
1 Corinthians 2:14 and not intellectually, the bible is studied in colleges as a book.

But men do help us to understand it better and glean a lot of information from its pages.
I've learned much from man. For example the trichotomy of the person and more.

You don't agree?

No you may not be reading me right, I never said we can't learn from man. I have been preach-teach for some years. Paul said 'how can we know with out a preacher. If you follow along when I write different threads you will get the crux of what I'm trying to say, and that on an impersonal forum.
I have stated many times man can only take a believer so far, men have an ego that will get in the way of preaching the fullness of the gospel.
It is not to put man down but to further the believer that hungers for the things of God. We are all human and make mistakes, I have been involved behind the scenes of many type ministries.
It is not as pretty as we perceive at times, I don't get into all of that because it is not necessary to put man down, but I write from experience.
I myself was a money preacher for many years, I have been around the pro's and I am very ashamed at my actions.
But I did alot out of ignorance, but regardless I did it and repented to never return to that lifestyle.

A very good question to which I have a very good answer. Because we are all as individual as fingerprints to God. He made us this way so that...there is no one else in the entire universe including all of all creation(s)...that are designed and taught...who and what, wondering is...No one can fill the spot in God's heart that he has for you individually within His plan for your life, like you can. So when you cross over and are with God finally, eternally...You add to God's heart and fulfill Him as God. The flip side is if you were to turn from God (God forbid!) then God would have an emptiness in His heart for all eternity for that spot that wondering should have filled...

Plus, we are many members, one body, so your teaching for your position (foot? hand?) will be different, the training different, the experiences different, the understanding different, the same truth, different perspective because different positioning, same God. Two people can be arguing/debating and both be right because the foot speaks from a foot perspective but the hand thinks he's nut's because she see's from a hands perspective, Lol!

Eh? :yes

I admit to not understanding the issue but I know, also, that I am a queer bird. When I lived without God, I did all I could to revile Him. When I converted, I understood, "Let God!"

When I was lost, every time i got married, I married some hot 18 year old Bimbow but then I had been married three times and logic says if a man cannot get it right in three attempts, it is logical to stop tha't and to be celibate. that is where I was at forty-five when God brought the very good looking 46 year old, tall, blond and slim, Deeter into my life and I was moved to love her. We were both moved to love one another by God and I moved off of Satan's Row, the last row of seating in the Church building up to where you must dodge the Preacher's Spit when he gets lathered up.

From that time forward I have done my best to let go and to let God. As is implied by the OP, at least to me, if we can learn to, just, let God live through us, we can live this Christian Life.

Great message brother.

Very beautiful.
Thank for posting this!

I've always said that Jesus saves us and not our doctrine.

Oh, I see.
Well, actually, I know some priests personally and I know what you're talking about.
Never knew a pastor personally, but we're all human.

I do believe we're on the same wavelength.
Only God can take us all the way.
Only God can be trusted 100%

:thumbsup

Yes there are some very good men/women that teach-preach the word of God. There are some that careless about your spiritual life and you will never know it.
Money is a strong pull in this life and some (I'm trying to word this without being to cynical) whether born again or not, God be the judge, see an easy way to manipulate people.
So we judge by the message, we are not to judge another individual but the scripture says "the spiritual man will judge all things."
That is the message we judge, we have to know if Christ is being preached, not about Him so much as Him being preached as life and not as a religion.
Satan comes as a minister of light, and a wolf in sheep's clothing, you cannot detect them by looking at them.
When they open their mouth that is when you need to know, very deceptive.
If the body of Christ cannot decern what is going on, they can very easily be taken for a ride.
It happens everyday, to believers that love God and trust that would never happen to them.
Many of our mainline denominations have given in to philosophy over the gospel.
Time and time again we are warned about the sleight of men, Eph. 4:14,
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

It's part of becoming as a child to receive the things of God. We have to unlearn and unplug from what we think we know intellectually in order to be able to receive these things. We have to remain teachable. This means being able to say to oneself, hey I don't know it all, or how it works, it doesn't work like that...How does this work, Daddy? And Daddy will teach us.

As a child...they will accept and believe in what their parent tells them. an adult who is so well educated will not, he will question everything and not be teachable. It was kind of hard for me at first, but then I realized that, I don't have to be able to understand it all, all I really have to do is to trust Him and believe that He can and will do what He says He will. So in that light...ok, so the truth is sort of twilight zone and not quite like I was taught in Sunday School...Ok, I get it now. Not understand it but get it, lol.

Unlearning Scofield's ideas of dispensation.
Growing up Scofield Bibles were around the house.. Mom's , Dad's extras... etc... In my youth i accepted Scofield's notes as Scripture simply because his notes were printed in the Book. The Book is Gods Word right, so those note were also... kids can be dumb
Unlearning Pentecostal dispenstaionalism was an adventure..
Any chance it was Grace that sent Cain to the east?
Grace that saved Abraham from his lies? Grace that saved Lot the jerk...
We are even told Noah " found Grace in the eyes of the Lord"
David pleaded to keep His Grace..
Laws?
How did Cain/Able know how to build an alter ? or Abraham...
Were not Adam and Eve commanded in the Beginning..
Scofield's notes say the Covenant with Abram was UNconditional .. Yet i read scripture that plainly says it was Abraham obedience

Gen 26:3 Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
Gen 26:4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
Gen 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

Wheat and tares...

Scripture says
Mat 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Scofield said
The gathering of the tares into bundles for burning does not imply immediate judgment. At the end of this age (Matthew 13:40) the tares are set apart for burning, but first the wheat is gathered into the barn.

The newer Scofield Bibles do not have the same notes as the older ones.. Grandpas was a 1909 or 06 i can not remember the year .. What a big difference was taught to so many folks about end times a 100 years ago...

It's hard to come out of the bondage of religion unto the light of Gods glory as I wrestled against the spirit of religion and God brought me out of it. It truly is starting all over again as you learn the basics and then grow into all truths through that of the Holy Spirit teaching you, but so many will not obey thinking whatever comes from the pulpit is truth.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Many questions asked in those scriptures and when you read them the answer is very clear. First we are called of God, not by man as man can not lead us to salvation, but can teach us what salvation through Christ is and what we must do in order to receive the Kingdom of God. One who teaches us must first be called of God and indwelled with the Holy Spirit as it is not the man, but the Holy Spirit teaching through man. Preaching is not a gospel of fire and brimstone, but a gospel of peace and glad tidings of good things that God wants for us. Faith, which is Christ Jesus, comes first by God calling us as the word of God draws us closer to Him.

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.

God sets up the order of His ministry, not mans ministry, in the body of Christ wherever they are assembled. What ever gift God gives you for the purpose of His ministry use that gift to bring glory and honor to God and not yourself as we are all one body in the Lord.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

All those who have answered Gods call and are Spiritually born again are also indwelled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not only our comforter, but also our teacher and will guide us into all truths, but it is also up to us to discern that which we hear whether it be the Spirit of truth or the spirit of error teaching us. Just because something makes sense to our logical mind does not make it truth.

I was raised Penecost as well, not as strict as some but enough to keep you danging over hell most of the time.
I haven't done many threads in this area, but I understand it does touch a nerve with those that have been through it.
Some have come out of such deep indoctrination it is hard for them to talk about it.
It does not have to be any particular denomination or Christian setting, it can happen.
I will admit I still have the root of religion running deep in me, you cannot shake the spooks of the past.
Mind renewal is the escape from not knowing or being mislead.
I have at the same time had wonderful people, teachers in my life when I needed it the most.
If we ask for bread we will not be given a stone.
But it has always been the HolySpirit that has led me out, sometimes kicking and screaming not understanding what He was doing.
He can be trusted to lead you into all truth, which is Christ.
