The upper room discourse is the beginning of the Epistles of the New Testament, for in it, in germ form, the great doctrines of the Christ life are announced. The phrase, 'My commandments,' is reserved until the revelation of the Christ life, because this term refers to the new creation race gospel rather than to the law that belong to Israel.
Added proof that the term 'my commandments' refers to the teaching of the Christ life may be seen when the passages which indicate Christ's character in them are considered.
For instance, He said, "A new commandment I give unto you," John 13:34, or "if any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord," 1 Corinthians 14:37.
The Commandments of Christ are not the law or any aspect of the law. Rather, they constitute the law of love and the perfect law of liberty. A stern warning from the Scriptures concerning those who would put the law which belong to Israel upon the born-again believer. Acts 15:10 says, "Now therefore why tempt God, to put a yoke (law) upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear."
Reference, here is made to the law of Moses, and to place it on the children who have been birthed by the heavenly Father is to tempt God. It is an unbearable yolk. But Christ, when anticipating the relationship of His new commandment, said in Matthew 11:30, "For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
Christians are not to be entangled with the yoke of bondage, Galatians 5:1. Thus, a definitive line must be drawn in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, it's self, as to which Commandments belong to the New Testament believer. The New Testament believers are not Jews, have no part of Moses law, and can never be a part of Israel's covenants. Many in the modern church, being deceived into believing they can be spiritual Israelites have forfeited the greater relationship with God and the richer life that there is in Christ by grace.

All that you have written here is correct except the failure to correct the single most common error of perception hat is taught in all New Covenant and most of the modern day New Testament churches.

The cause is that most almost all of Christianity has te wrong view on what is the Bible. You see, Jesus taught from the Bible, as did His early disciples and there was no New Testament.
The teachings in the New Testament are based on the scrolls of the Old Testament, making them to be God Inspired/Spoken cLife Application Commentaries.

The 613 aspects of the Law are still in need of study because we need to learn where the Jewish People failed and succeeded, when they did. That and the truth that the Law is the most accurate, complete and beautiful Word Picture of Jesus in the Bible.

The Jewish People proved the Law cannot be lived and not one of the Old Testament Saints did not, as some believe, go to Heaven before Jesus died on the cross and went to Paradise/Abraham's Buxom and they remained there until Jesus died, arrived there Himself and many believe He preached the Gospel to them. Only then were they released to be seen in the streets of the holy city. (Matt 27) The Prophets and the Law are the foundation of True Christianity. With God's Grace we are saved but the Law teaches why we are sinners.

i use the term spiritual jews but in a symbolic manner . i use the term as we been grafted into the vine Jesus and him being a jew ... .but we are not under law but Grace . we often fall short of his Glory and expectations. i often think due to us being so hard headed , the Bible gives us scripture to follow walk in the Light (do we always ) be doers of the word not hearers only. walk in the spirit
With God's Grace we are saved
amen
