And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout all your land. And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land to all its inhabitants. Leviticus 25:8-10

Our founding fathers were aware of the principle of the year of Jubilee and the freedom associated with it; proclaim liberty throughout all the land is inscribed on the Liberty Bell that hangs in front of Independence Hall in Philadelphia.(David Guzik) http://www.blueletterbible.org/comm...tID=7780&commInfo=31&topic=Isaiah&ar=Isa_61_1

Also~ 1,000 years has 20 Jubilee's in it. I am thinking of the Millienial Reign of Christ in this referrence. Have you ever looked into the Year of Jubilee? Many theologians say that the Jews may not have celebrated it either very much, or at all! :confused

That is kind of odd to me... the fact that whole families would be allowed a fresh start and independence after poverty would be an excellent way to avoid any permanent lower class of citizens. Also, the each new generation would have an opportunity (even if late in life) to begin again~ if the family had fallen into debt.

What a boone to American's this would be! Think of all the credit card debt that would be forgiven! We might not need bancrupcy if forgiveness was possible... I also wonder if anyone could ever "own it all" in this system. So perhaps there would not be anyone like Bill Gates around either. :chin

“God's voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding. He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour.â€- Job 37:5-6

“[Do Not Love the World] Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world.â€- 1 John 2:15-16
