Dear Pray-ers,

"Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you,
as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ's sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified" (I Peter 4:12-14)

CHINA (China Aid Association)

A prominent female house church leader was imprisoned in Jilin province on July 14, 2006. Additionally, in the past few days, 17 house church pastors were detained in Henan and Sichuan provinces.

According to eyewitness reports, on July 11, Mrs. Wang Jinhua, a prominent house church leader, was arrested along with her husband Mr. Xu Jinfu and their 8-year-old son Xu Enze. Xu Enze was released after some members of the church asked for the boy's release. After being interrogated for three days and nights, Mrs. Wang was transferred to Baishan Prison in Baishan town, Jilin city. Her husband Mr. Xu was released on the same day.

The interrogators signed the date of Mrs. Wang's transfer and Mr. Xu's release as July 12th (instead of July 14th) in order to cover their illegal extension of summons time. Another major house church leader, Mr. Yu Peng, was forced to flee and is now on the run because he was put on the wanted list by the government. At least three other leaders of his church were questioned by the PSB.

Pray the Lord will deliver Mrs. Wang from those who would harm her. Pray God will give her His peace and hope for the future. Pray those who are coming against the Christians in China will begin to thirst for the living God.

INDIA (Global Council of Indian Christians)

On July 15th, around 11:00 p.m., a notorious group of Hindu radicals tried to burn down a transformer as part of a plan to attack 150 orphan girls in Kota, Rajasthan. The attackers allegedly had plans to rape the girls. The plan failed when the transformer led to an uncontrolled fire and created many onlookers.

This is the latest in a serious of attempts to shut down the work of Emmanuel Orphanages. Previously, officials from the Rajasthan social welfare ministry tried to extract false complaints against Emmanuel Orphanages, but their repeated attempts have failed. Mr. Madan Dilavar, the social welfare minister of Rajasthan has made over 50 statements and threats against M.A. Thomas and Emmanuel Mission.

Previously, Emmanuel Mission's licenses were cancelled and bank accounts for the orphanages were frozen. (actions that were later rescinded). Most of the orphan girls that Emmanuel Orphanages help are from Dalit background.

Pray God will continue to protect the children in Emmanuel orphanage. Pray the Spirit of our risen Lord will give the Emmanuel workers His supernatural love for those who oppose them. Pray this spiritual battle will prove the power of our God of love to overcome the spirit of hate.

LAOS (VOM Canada)

On May 1, 2006, Ka Tamong (22) came to faith in Christ in the Louangphrabang area of Laos and immediately set out to share his faith with the people in his home village of Omdong. Using a cassette tape given to him by a pastor, he began sharing his new found faith with his family and fellow villagers and many expressed interest in becoming Christians. However, the village head reported him to the district police and he was arrested on May 16. His Bible and cassette player were confiscated.

Contacts report Ka Tomong was released from Nong Ngiao prison on or around June 24th and has led three more people to the Lord. Pray that Ka Tamong will remain faithful to his newfound faith. Pray that he will find opportunities to share Christ and that other believers will be encouraged because of his faithfulness. Pray that the villagers that have heard the gospel will respond with open hearts to Jesus Christ.

Praise God for this young man of strong faith. Pray the Lord will lead him to those He has chosen to hear the Good News and believe in His Son. Ask God to continue to strengthen this servant and protect him in body, mind and spirit.

PAKISTAN (Compass Direct)

Freed on bail, a Pakistani man charged with raping Ribqa Masih has continued to threaten the young Christian woman who accused him of pressuring her to convert to Islam by violating her. "I'm afraid to go outside," said Masih before breaking into tears. "Mentally, I've been too disturbed to study."

Masih had finished her high school examinations and was awaiting the results in September 2005, when wealthy Muslim neighbors in this town near Faisalabad kidnapped and raped her, she said. Among them was Muhammad Kashif, who was granted bail on a technicality the law gives to criminal suspects suffering from illness.

His illness is psoriasis. "Psoriasis did not stop him from raping Masih," said Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Masih's lawyer. Nor did it keep Kashif from fleeing police in a Faisalabad courtroom last October when his initial request for pre-arrest bail was rejected.

Give thanks to God that Masih was willing to testify to the suffering she endured at the hands of Muslim men. Pray Jesus Himself will comfort her and take away her fears. Pray the men who violated her will repent of their actions and seek the only One who can truly forgive them.
