Do you ever waste time doing something you enjoy but that has no apparent purpose? This is meant to be more of a fun thread where we can 'fess up about those things we do for no good reason. How would you finish this sentence: I waste too much time...

Personally, I waste too much time playing Mahjong on the computer and watching reality TV shows.

Oh how I've wasted hours and hours at Pogo.com playing Mahjong and Solitaire! I also waste time reading books that, while by no means are trashy or inappropriate, are nonetheless not filled with anything useful either. I love good murder mysteries along the lines of Agatha Christie and I have just about every book that Georgette Heyer wrote as well as books like the Chronicles of Narnia and LOTR. (Although those last two do have a lot of thought provoking theological themes in them!)

I call games and books my "brain candy". :yes

Aww Dave, how can you say so! With our scintillating conversations, robust debate and all the time we dwell on your deep and philosophical questions such as "Have You Ever Wanted to be Like Steve Urkel?" how could any moment spent here be considered a waste of time! :biggrin

Oh, and Zoo Tycoon. I love wasting time playing Zoo Tycoon. I have the full expansion pack with the marine animals and the dinosaurs. After an incredibly busy school year and then full force into Vacation Bible School, I've spent a lot of time this week playing Zoo Tycoon and reading Georgette Heyer. Feels good!

The Urkel post was classic. Probably the best thread I ever posted and ever will post. :lol

I just waste too much time here with nonsense stuff. :biggrin

I thought the alf one was funny as well.

I am a videogameaholic. I am so into video games I own all three next gen consoles. I have a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the Wii. I just can't get enough of em. I get online with my friends and we blow each other up through the night or race all over Paradise City on Burnout Paradise or repel the Convenant Invasion using our handy dandy battle rifles.

This is what I would consider to be my biggest time waster but man I have a lot of fun with it. I have been doing better with balancing my craving to play video games with my family and health the last couple of years. My obsession used to be so bad that it negatively impacted my marriage but no longer. Much better balance now.

I waste too much time on the computer. I often have to be doing 3 or 4 things at a time, even at work, lol. I'm trying to limit myself, I have already limited television.

I like Majhong tiles!! Sudoku rules!! :yes

I love that! I also love Solitaire. And games and books are also mentally stimulating. I also love reading fictional novels and thought about listing that here, but I think that reading is a good practice for keeping the brain young, so I don't really consider it wasted time. In fact, Mahjong probably keeps the brain young too, so maybe I'm not wasting so much time as I think!

Aero, I think it's wonderful that you are finding a more healthy balance. I think that's what it all comes down to -- finding a healthy balance, making sure that our recreation doesn't interfere with our work and responsibilities and family and spiritual growth. I love video games too, though not MMORPG (that's my sons' thing). I'm a huge Mario fan and I don't know how many times I've saved the princess and still keep going back!

My mom has tried for so long to get me to like Sudoku, touting the brain benefits of it, but I just hate it! lol

Oh, I forgot to mention that I also go through periods where I waste too much time doing crossword puzzles, logic puzzles, things like that. But again, if it benefits the brain it might not be such a waste of time! :yes

Ohh, Noone dear. You need to find a better way to waste time. Next time you have some time to waste, just pray and cast all those cares upon the Lord then log on here and tackle a Dave Slayer question. Much better than worrying about things. :lol :thumb
