What would God's blessing on America look like in your opinion?
That's like asking what it would look like if God blessed the food we ate... The fact that it's food which we can eat testifies that it's been blessed. Look at it this way, a carrot cannot grow unless it receives rain to water it and sunshine otherwise it won't grow. Both are provided and both are a blessing from God.

In other words, it's not so much about being blessed. God has blessed America in great ways because he sends rain to the just and the unjust. He is not biased in that regard. He causes Empires to rise, and He causes Empires to fall.

Instead of asking what America would look like if it were blessed (because it already is), I think a better way to look at it would be to ask what we, as a country are doing with God's blessings.

The Bible has story after story of what happens to Empires that misuse His blessings. I think we are exploiting God's blessings in many ways.

It seems to me that there is a Christian Nation idea that many Christians have. Pretty much regard the USA as if it's the Christian version of the ancient nation of Israel.
Of course the establishment of that nation was specifically spoken of by God beginning with His choice of Abram.
I don't recall Him saying He had similar plans for a Christian country. There is supposed to be, and us, a Holy Nation He is building which is the universal church that is not bound by geopolitical boundaries.

Exactly. We are members of Gods kingdom first and like the Angel of the Lord, we answer to God and walk as Jesus walked.

We belong to a nation that transcends political parties, social economic status, boarders, race or color. We are United IN Christ.

Truth be told, politics are ugly because the rhetoric machine builds one party up through the attempted decimation to the other party and its loyal and obedient followers become mouthpieces for the prefabricated arguments provided for them.

I removed the politics forum and deleted over 10,000 threads. It's had an amazingly positive impact on this site for those who stayed. So no, were not going to be creating a new political forum.... ever.... and I am watching these two threads closely.

We've worked to hard to create an atmosphere that's encouraging and builds relationships to let something that we know divides take over.

What would God's blessing on America look like in your opinion?
Bull, thank you...What an awesome question! You really got my attention on this one. I have lived through a lot (am 81) and I don't think I can really answer that. To say, as a nation, I have seen days of unity and strength especially on the home front during and after W.W.II is not sufficient. Unity..e.g. Psalm 133, does bring the blessing and we right now as a nation are far from that.
However, I think this is still the present mandate although often quoted it is always worth repeating so to remind ourselves individually and as the Church... II Chronicles 7:14 - "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (NIV) And so, this is the closest I can come to answer your question...God will heal if we follow II Chronicles 7:14. Please note the underlining of "If" and "then".. God's healing is how the blessing will come but only "If"...and "then"...I believe it!

Seems smart. My wife and I have been in a Friday evening Bible study for ten years with mostly the same group of people.
Beginning two years ago each evening included way too much political talk before and after our study. It wouldn't bother me as much except I have to listen to Christian often make excuses for bad behavior, lies, and also to state things as facts that fly in the face of reality. For the sake of friendship I work really hard at holding my tongue.

I have lost church friends because I refused to side with them and parrot back what they have been fed. They dont listen because they argue against a chimericle beast they've made you out to be.

As our site name depicts, we are a Christian Forum. We are not a political forum.

I'm learning to hold my tongue... it's a work in progress.

I will try to get it right. A challenge is that for many Christians a political persuasion for which they have a dogmatic, detailed set of tenets and it is completely embedded in their understanding of the faith. Like a tumor with a tangle of tentacles. It's hard to discuss anything any more without it being about politics.

Give it a try.

How about removing ungodly laws that were passed, such as

Roe V Wade.
Same sex marriage
Banning prayer in schools

I would love to see America return to being a nation of righteousness.

Do you remember when Putin “congratulated” Obama for being the president of Sodom and Gomorrah?

I do.

I don’t want my nation to be associated with Sodom and Gomorrah.

But the Holy Spirit only came upon a handful of believers. Do you envision a on fire nation for God anytime soon when actual believers are a minority of the population?

I thought the Holy Spirit was poured out on all the believers who were in the upper room.

PS. Don’t look now but I think we’re having a spiritual discussion.

from what I"ve read, many Christians were fairly uninvolved in politics until the 70s and 80s...and then the far right began to remold much of Protestantism to suit their purposes. and now...

politicizing Jesus is just bad news, all around. I get mass emails from SoJourners, they're a progressive, social justice ministry. Overall...I like their version of Jesus, but some of their "Jesus" flies in the face of The Gospel (actively affirming trans-sexuals' lifestyles and operations, etc.), so as much as I"d like to embrace everything they're about...I cannot, because of my faith in and understanding of Jesus. and so...

along the same lines, when i go over to the Charisma website, I get...more than a little concerned...about the glorification of Trump and the demonization of all who oppose him.

Amen.

This is true and not even the nation of Israel had all the people as saved.

Never the less the nation fared better under David than they did under Saul.
