Hey Tommy, Don't think I've met you. Hello!
Glad to hear that you had a great weekend! Quickly, Our youth group had this awsome event on Friday nite that lasted until like 2 am! (man it's hard to stay up that late anymore!)
The teens had to go on this trail with a wodden cross out in the woods by themselves. Along the pathway were 8 stations that they had to stop at. Each station represented an aspect of sin and there was something there for the kids to nail to their cross when they left. (sin)
When they were done with the trail, they all gathered together and our summer youth intern (He was awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Anyway, he gave them a summary of the stations and told them what their sins did to God, and how God sent his Son to vindicate sin. Then, he showed the flogging and the crucifiction of Christ. It was so great! Then, on this hill, they had built a full size cross and his Dad (wich none of the kids knew) dressed up as Christ and was on the cross. The kids didn't see it coming.
To end with, he poured a whole quart of lighter fluid on a bon fire and lit it. He then took one of the crosses with the sins nailed to it and said, "Your sin deserves to burn in Hell", and he threw it in the fire. The kids threw their crosses in as well.
It was fantastic! The whole event took about 6 hours and I know it impacted the kids in a positive way.
