I have had a special fondness for Marchibroda all along, because of his association with two western New York institutions important to me; St. Bonaventure University and the Buffalo Bills. He played quarterback for St. Bonaventure, when they had a football team, and was offensive coordination for the Bills from 1987 to 1992.

Former Colts coach, broadcaster Ted Marchibroda dies at age 84 - http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/ted-marchibroda-colts-broadcaster-dies-at-age-84-011616
Former NFL coach Ted Marchibroda charmed players with his soft-spoken personality and his innovative concepts.

Fans appreciated his down-to-earth descriptions and his ability to win games.

On Saturday, the NFL lost one of its great innovators. After confirming the death with his family, the Indianapolis Colts announced that Marchibroda died at age 84.

I'm sure you aren't the only one. Bowie interested me only a little as a strange and ostentatious entertainer, but, Marchibroda impressed me a great deal. He was a quietly effective player and coach, and a good Christian.
