Not bragging. Favorite dishes? Hmmm.Lasagna, Banana bread, Nachos, homemade salsa, stir fry, post roast, omelettes. I do ok with some polish dishes...until a polish girl comes along, lol. I dunno why people think cooking is so hard. It's all the same food, just prepared different ways. I think that the trick to cooking is getting it all on the table at the same time, hot.
Are you polish?WHOA? you are a regular Emeril Lagasse. Polish sausage and Sauerkraut one of my very favorite dishes. If I eat sauerkraut I had better be by a bathroom :)

I'm not Polish. My first wife was Polish and my Fiance is Polish. Polish food is great food. Pirogis, cabbage rolls, Gumki (sp?) mmm.

This is true. I think most people over cook food. Especially veggies.
My mom never went by a recipe. She would put a little of this and a little of that in.If you asked her for a recipe she would have to sit down with you and think and think. She was an awesome cook. That is my goal.

My first husband was Greek.Cabbage rolls?Mmmmmm wonderful.

I'm not too good at cabbage rolls. My wife made them with hamburger and rice and other stuff. She'd go to 3 or 4 different stores looking for just the right cabbage for them, and top them with tomato soup. mmmm.

I like making Glazed Pineapple hams, when I finish with them they are very sweet tasting
I like a nice glaze for a ham.Pineapple is nice.I am a real snob when it comes to ham.I don't like a strong smoke favor.I like a ham with the bone in.

Their is an art to them.I have never made them. Those Greeks knew how to make cabbage rolls. They were not too keen on anyone outside of their nationality around though.A real tight knit group.

When I was in high school I knew sisters who were Italian. They said that they would invite all of us to a party and make us home made Raviolis. It took them forever and you would not believe the process but those were probably the best Raviolis I have ever had in my life.

There is an art to them! They way she made them, they had such a good flavor! i can't get that flavor that she could, dangit. Apparently, wrapping them is an art unto itself also. Mine would come apart easily even wrapping them the same way she did.

:confused

Same thing with pierogis and my wife. It was a two day event to make them. But she'd make a huge ol pot of them. And make them stuffed with different things. Absolutely awesome!

grape rolls with lamb and rice
There was a restaurant that we went to when I was a kid.The people who owned it were Armenians. They made the best Shish Kabob in the world.I believe they were lamb but they had alot of garlic flavor. The meal came with grape leaves. It was amazing. But then I have had lamb elsewhere and I hated it.

This first husband of mine had a greek grandmother who lived with them. Yiayia(grandmother) she would crack me up.She would say "Give it to me this one". She made the best Baklava.I would watch her as she sat at the table and put layers upon layers of this very thin dough you could see through and honey and nuts.I have had it since then but it is not as good as Yiayias.
