I have that Octavious Winslow on my kindle and it's selling for only 77p on amazon uk. A real bargain for those who are interested.

I hope my pointing this out isn't breaking any rules :confused:
 
I've just started reading The Darkness and The Dawn by Thomas Costain. It has to do with Attila the Hun and his forming of a great army. It's quite comical because it talks about his 60 wives. Hehe. So far I'm really enjoying it. I've had a lot of down time recently to read.
 
One Truth: Have you read any other Thomas Costain's books? I enjoyed all of them that I've been able to find.

Down Yokel: the book about Octavious Winslow was fine food for thought ... made me consider (or 're-consider') a few aspects of my own walk. It cost me more than 77p (about $1.28 US) though...but well worth what I did pay.

I'm currently reading the 1902 book: Brewster's Millions. I enjoyed the Richard Pryor movie version back in the day ... but had always wanted to read the book to see how it was originally written. Quick read...humourous telling...can well understand why there have been many movie versions & plays based on it.

I haven't read any of his others yet, but if they are as good then I certainly will! I've found The Darkness and The Dawn extremely well written.

This book just gets better after each chapter, i caught myself smiling a few times.
It discusses the old earth, heaven's realm and the new earth. i recommend to all.
 
The Cost of Discipleship, by Deitrich Bonhoeffer
I like this one. It's a devotional.

The Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom (I've read it before, but it's worth reading again.)
Hazlitt's Economics in One Lesson
Among others.
 
I have just got my physical copy of my new book God: A Question of evil from Amazon the kindle is one thing but to physically handle a book you have written is actually a lot of fun. Inspires you to do it again.

The book deals with the question "If God is such a loving God why does He allow suffering,pain and evil to continue?"

The book has a daily survival plan in it which teaches you how to cope with life on a daily basis in the face of evil.
 
Currently reading "Home School Heroes" by Christopher Klicka. It's actually a Christian book, and it talks about the legal battles Christian and non-Christian homeschool families have had to go through in order to homeschool without legal trouble.
 
Reading The Evolution of Adam by Peter Enns. Very good so far and learning about who wrote the Pentateuch

- My Utmost For His Highest by Oswald Chambers (I know it's a daily devotional book, but I've been reading it just like a regular book)
- Ben-Hur by Lew Wallace (I've always wanted to read it but never could really finish it. There is a tremendous amount of detail per scene)
 
Recently started reading the first Wheel of Time book to my boys. It is slow going since I only read about 4 pages in a sitting as it is when they are supposed to be going to sleep (bedtime/naptime). Should take a while.
