I was just wondering since I had this problem early this morning. Sometimes I just lie awake for awhile until I fall back asleep, use my tablet, or just listen to calming and relaxing sounds on it like cats purring or rain falling. Yeah, I actually really do like to listen to the sound of thunderstorms out there,.. and for some odd reason beyond my realm of understanding, if I'm having trouble sleeping while my mother is showering before she goes to work, I fall back to sleep and wind up sleeping like a baby. Go figure! :shrug

Ever try a metronome?
They use it like a click track for bands and orchestras.

All they do is make a steady rythm. I used one when I studied piano.

I think that you would love it to sleep to.

Hmmm,.. no,.. I've never had, but it definitely sounds interesting.

Never thought of a metronome for sleep, but I am not sure it would work on me after all these years of band class. I loved band. It's just the metronome was usuallt pulled out when we weren't keeping the tempo right (makes some teachers cranky lol).

I live on a farm. I walk outside and roam a bit looking at the sky, especially the moon if it's up, the shadow of trees, things like that. Talk to my dog a bit as she always hangs with me in quiet protection mode. This relaxes me and I fall asleep quickly. But I rarely have trouble sleeping since retiring at the end of 2016. My job was by far the most common reason I would have difficulty sleeping.

Drink more coffee! Jk jk!

Rain for the win! It actually rained and thundered early this morning so no need for the app. Thunderstorms and rain help me, too. Maybe we use the same noise app because mine has a cat purring and lots of rain ones. Although, the cat purring would make me fall asleep, it makes me more sad. I used to have two cats and one would sit by me in bed and purr until I fell asleep. It was so soothing.

I usually don't have trouble falling asleep, it seems the kids always make me use my energy. What used to help were warm epsom salt/magnesium flake baths (many people are deficient in magnesium and that can cause sleep issues).

Melatonin strips that dissolve on the tongue would help on my roughest nights.

Every night that I remember, I wear orange sunglasses or safety glasses when the sun goes down. The orange tint blocks out blue light (which is of course in our light bulbs, phone screens, computer screens, etc.), which can keep the brain awake and prevent you from ever falling into a deep sleep.

Some people promise lavender will soothe one to sleep, but this doesn't work on me.

I don't have too many problems with getting to sleep anymore either now that I go to bed late (usually between eleven and one since I'm a night owl) and sleep in late, my trouble occurred when I used to go to bed early and wake up late, but yeah,.. that really does sound nice and relaxing since I really enjoy nature and looking up at the night sky. I think it's really rather amazing that not only did God create each every star that we see (and don't see) up there, but He knows exactly how many there are. :eek2And I know that His love for us is greater than all of the stars in the sky. :cross

Lol! :lol First of all I drink tea not coffee, and second of all sometimes I don't even need a cat purring app, since I can choose to listen to the real thing. :) (my kitty Jessie is featured in the photography section by the way along with the cat I used to have before she ran away :sad)

Tea is great! Chamomile is wonderful for sleep.

I have issues with coffee. I can only have a tiny amount, ny body just doesn't handle it.

Anyway, I love cats! Sorry to hear one ran away. I probably won't be able to have cats again, but they usually like me and I have fun around them.

My husband and I got two cats the month we were married. We had them for 7 years. Unfortunately we ended up taking them to the animal shelter because we could not find them homes. I pray they found a home that was willing to take both. My husband figured out he was allergic after we got them and never told me because he didn't want me to have to get rid of them. I worry that this caused many of his recurring respiratory illnesses. Then on top of that, pet deposits are nuts for apartment living plus monthly pet rent...we couldn't afford it. Thet were stressing bad after our first child and didn't adapt 100%. Makes me so sad =( I miss them and my toddler still doesn't understand. She asks, "Where my kitties go?" And, "When are kitties coming home?" It hurts...

I'm so sorry what happened to you! That's awful! :sad I hope and pray that they found a home together as well. Yeah, I used to be allergic to cats too when I was a child, but whether they were mine, somebody else's, or the cats at the shelter that I used to volunteer at as a teenager, I have practically been around them my whole entire life. I just wasn't expecting to lose one (Jasmine) by her breaking out the screen door in the middle of the night.

I just hope she is happy with a home somewhere and loved. At least we never discovered her body lying on the side of the road though so I'm hoping and praying that she is still alive and she gets back to us if possible unless she is really happy with another family somewhere else, then I would want her to stay with them since we have Jessie now which by the way was rescued as a stray from a friend of the family. She was dumped in the middle of the night in a rainstorm at a gas station.

Which I can't even begin to understand by the way. She may be a bit feisty sometimes, but she wouldn't be much of a cat if she wasn't. Other than that she is the most sweetest, cuddly, and loveable cats ever. The only reason why the friend of the family couldn't keep her is because the other cats that they had kept beating her up and they had too many cats as it was anyway. Besides the fact that they were already aware of the cat we lost.

Hopefully Jasmine is out there happy somewhere.

It is so sad when animals are dumped. I had a friend that adopted a dog that was thrown out of the window of a moving car. Poor thing limped everywhere.

When I lived with my parents, we visited our grandparents home in another state. My granparents home was in like nowheresville. One neighbor was right next door and the other a football field away. We found a kitten in grandmas garden. We think she may have been dumped since it was out in the middle of nowhere. What an odd place to dump a kitten. We searched for more and never found any others. There was a wild bobcat that would eat the neighbors birds so we were afraid of there being others. We brought the kitten back home on that long drive out of the state, and she lived for 15 years.

I agree it's awful, animals are part of God's creation too.

At the moment it is a steady rain kind of day. A great day. I have spent a lot of time on the porch. I just took this picture from my rocker.
