I have had a relationship with Christ my Lord for only ten years, I'm not a Christian as I don't attend a church, the reason is not my brothers and sisters in Christ but the things that they believe in and then follow, I do see religion as a broard brush but not when it contradicts with what the bible clearly teaches. Many seem to be taken in by these multi-million dollar preachers claiming Ferraris for Christ and the Benny Hinn style preachers who promise miracles and if it doesn't happen then blaming the sick person for their own lack of faith. I've been to several churches over the years but its like a plague with these TV liars spreading their tat worldwide....their poison seeps into most churches here in the UK...many leaders looking for a mega church circus. I'm far from being right in my own walk with God but I can see when leaders are taking from the flock

If you believe that Jesus was the son of God, was executed and rose again then you are a Christian. Even people who believe in variations on that theme call themselves Christian.

Welcome. There are some interesting people here; some with a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to offer and some who just think they know everything:yes

Let's see..a church is an empty building with a cross on it. It has a steeple and a bell, or just speakers that play bell like sounds! Inside is an altar with pews facing it plus another cross (or crucifix) on the wall. :)
Wait....maybe that's just what the counterfeit church is?!

Maybe it is the gathering together of disciples who lay down their lives for one another in the community of the Spirit in love having all things in common.

Naw! It's probably the first definition. :o

People are - christians. We are the body of christ. We are the church:)

Matthew 16:18 NKJV
And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

How can we attend the church if it is a body? Can we attend a body?

Isn't church a sunday morning service at a building called a church?

That verse makes it clear. We are the church, the body of Christ. We are indeed the church. The building where you fellowship or worship is just a structure. We often call it a church - it is a fellowship centre. We are actually the church - the body of Christ.

Why the need for a fellowship structure in order to have fellowship? If the structure is required then it is no wonder that people call this structure the church, without which there is no fellowship nor worship.

If the bible matters at all, then disciples lived with each other and were together DAILY so that those who were being saved were being added DAILY.

If you want to use the bible, then why not admit what is actually written?

What is actually written?
Act 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;
Act 2:45 And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
Act 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
Act 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

The sunday churchianity we see today came about after the truth was overturned when the community became a worldly institution.

Hi!

Forget about how people or institution manage their religion. It's their life and ultimately, they have to answer what they do. What is going to happen to them? Seriously, I don't know and I am not God either. So, I will release them to God and his perfect judgement.

As for you, you need to consider his GREAT Love for you/ the price that Jesus paid for your sins and His salvation which He gives you. WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? To accept or reject?

thanks for the replies.. What am i going to do about it?...thats the question..do i join in with the thieves telling lies to the flock or do i keep out of it. What cost? gathering yourselves together to upbuild but it's not possible to swim against the tide...the tales they tell have already entrapped the flock...Jesus loved his brothers ...would he love them if they harmed each other and did it in his name? People have committed suicide after being told they are not healed because they lack enough faith.. do these viper leaders understand faith is a gift from God...do they care? They want childish unquestioning Sunday morning gatherers. Childlike is one thing but childish is another. They give out healing on demand telling The Holy Spirit what he is to do...shall I share in this act. Act being the best word to describe some circus gatherings. NO I will stay away not because i have any dislike of my brothers but the place has been dirtied by the actions of the shepherds and the one true shepherd is the only one who can now sort it out

Just curious .... what makes you think the Lord isn't adding to the church daily even today ?

Just curious again .... what's wrong with gathering and worshipping God on Sundays and why would it be deemed a "worldly institution" just because the gathering takes place on Sunday ?? :confused

There's another option, one that I chose, believing it to be according to God's ordering for the assembly. I don't go to a church, but I gather with a group of Christians at a plain, unadorned meeting room in a town near where I live. We are connected, 'in fellowship' with similar groups of Christians all over the world, and we walk together in fellowship because we share the same Scriptural principles. We have no appointed pastor or minister, because we know this to be un-scriptural and restrictive to the movements of the Holy Spirit. Any man who is breaking bread with us is free to take spoken part in the service of God in the breaking of bread, in our meetings for mutual inquiry into the Scriptures, in our meetings for prophetic ministry, in our meetings for prayer and thanksgiving, and our meetings for practical care of the Lord's interests. All men who are breaking bread may be called upon to preach the gospel. Women are silent in the assembly, according to Scripture, but bring, in their spirits, vital impressions to the meetings. Accordingly, we hold that it is irregular to have a meeting in any place if there are no sisters present, because something would be lacking from the service of God.

We choose to be separate from iniquity, and therefore, to our great sorrow, we don't feel it's right to break bread in any other place than with those with whom we are in fellowship. Thus, we strive to maintain the purity of the service of God. If any one among us is walking in a disorderly way and not according to scripture, we reason with them and present them with the scriptures. If they continue indefinitely to refuse to obey the Word of God, we feel we can no longer break bread with them, and withdraw from them.

As a company of believers, we have our faults and imperfections, but I feel we have something very precious. There is boundless love amongst us, we enjoy happy fellowship and the teaching is very sound. Here, you wouldn't get the watered-down religion of the churches, nor the emotive displays. Our meetings are quiet, but charged with the energy of the activity of Holy Spirit amongst us, which brings forth passionate responses in prayer and worship.

My advice to you ivorhughjarse, is to seek out a company of these simple Christians, worshipping in Christian simplicity. :) We have many localities throughout the UK, and though I don't want to appear partisan, I can guarantee that you'd be welcomed at any of them.

Worship God on any day its wonderful, but Sunday was chosen by its Roman leader Constantine as the Sabbath to stop worshipers keeping the God given Sabbath that Jesus kept which was sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. The day may not matter but there is always something of God's intent in the day of rest that he chose for us

Sunday to honor the Sun God
Monday to honor the moon
Wednesday to honor Woden
Thursday to honor Thor and so on

The early Christian church was meeting on Sundays (to honor Christ's resurrection) long before Constantine.

the Church rejects the first century Christians and the Jewish Sabbath which was the same. Constantine made it official. Jesus never rejected Israel in favour of the Gentiles, He opened the door to the Gentiles as a kindness to us....wanting us to make the Jew's jealous with our relationship with Him...watch the various God channels on TV to see if we are doing this and what a set of entertainers clowns and con artists you will see. there is nothing there.....but prosperity gospel money grabbing millionaires...

Please choose your Sabbath as you wish but one question.. was the Sabbath law removed....if not then was there to be two Sabbaths? one for the Jew and one for the Gentile?

Do you have proof? You are talking about millions of Christians when you use the word "Church." I know I certainly do no reject the first century Christians.

Constantine made it official.
So. Does that somehow nullify the fact that the Apostles and early Church met on Sundays?

Jesus never rejected Israel in favour of the Gentiles, He opened the door to the Gentiles as a kindness to us....wanting us to make the Jew's jealous with our relationship with Him...watch the various God channels on TV to see if we are doing this and what a set of entertainers clowns and con artists you will see. there is nothing there.....but prosperity gospel money grabbing millionaires...
Non sequitur. What does this have to do with Christians meeting on Sunday?

Please choose your Sabbath as you wish but one question.. was the Sabbath law removed....if not then was there to be two Sabbaths? one for the Jew and one for the Gentile?
Since when have gentiles ever entered into the Covenant of Moses? Any gentile who sought salvation after the coming of Christ, did so by entering through the New Covenant of Christ. The early church was severely persecuted, and Jews who accepted Christ were being thrown out of the temple. The early Church celebrated "the day of honoring God" on Sunday. It's not a big deal, as long as, God is honored because that's what matters the most.

Is it really? there will be a reconciling with the Jews one day?...does what God establishes for his people have anything to do with his will or what he wants? maybe not! What matter most is what we decide to do...

Its a place that is in my walk and how much I reject what God wants and the changes that I will be making...in my walk...all things ready us for Christs return faithful in the least thing and all that

Romans 14

1Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

2For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

3Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

4Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

7For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

8For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

9For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

15But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

16Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

18For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

19Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

21It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

22Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

23And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Its a place that is in my walk and how much I reject what God wants and the changes that I will be making...in my walk...all things ready us for Christs return faithful in the least thing and all that
I really don't understand what you are trying to convey. :biggrinunno
