Any thoughts on Ruth as it relates to marriage ...
I have, since the day of my conversion, I have found the record Ruth and Naomi a powerful encouragement. Ladies, in the First Century were treated as Chattel but if a Jewish man strived to walk along side of YHWH he might have understood the Bibles instruction on marriage the way Jesus, Paul and the other Disciples taught on the Marriage Laws. Ruth was a converted Jewess and as I read the book she did her best to walk the talk.

It is a lesson and it is not the only lesson but it is a lesson for every man and woman in this world, even for early Teenage Boys and Girls.

The scriptures are full of commands that insist we do these things and that we never even consider doing this and never group of things. Today, everybody concentrates on the Thou Shalt Nots and they never think about the Thou Shalls of the scriptures. Brother and sister, if we concern ourselves, we need not fret about Thou shalt not! When we truly devote ourselves to doing YHWH's work we do not have the time to plan to sin.

Ruth, it appears, was very smart young lady and listened closely to Naomi, Her thirty year or old mother-in-law and used the customs and laws of her Mother-in-law's people and being comely looking, I'm sure she did things the right way and YHWH blessed her efforts. He will do the same thing for every one of us.

But be careful, if you take this advise as a must do, you will not, as I rdad and understand it, be ib the Will of YHEH. It's just like my use of the Original, Paleo Hebrew names of God, I do that as one more, personal effort, to glorify our Master. Everything we do must be to the glory YHWH and Yashua. And anything we do in His name we need to be careful, just as Ruth was. She did nothing before Naomi instructed her to perform the act.

Although the book of Ruth does not mention the name of our God, as I recall it, I see His hand leading every character in the transcript. Act like Ruth and you will be blessed.

Henry Blackabee in one of his courses to stand still, look around you to see what God has going on and when you see it, move over there adn help Him do the work and never take off on a wild tare and expect God to bless it, He won't.

The story of Ruth is the personification of commitment to a Godly heritage, marriage and obedience. Here you have a woman that leaves behind her pagan heritage and converts to a Godly lineage through her marriage to Mahlon in whom she was faithful to him until his death. Even after his death Ruth was faithful to his family as now being her family helping to take care of Naomi as a servant to her needs. Married to her husband and to his family as stated in Ruth 1:16, 17. Starting out as a poor peasant woman being faithful with a little she later became faithful over much when she married Boaz and bore a child named Obed who was the father of Jesse and the Grandfather of King David. This is all about the kinsman redeemer as Boaz was known, but also in relationship to Christ who is our kinsman redeemer as we are His Bride and faithful to Him.

what is marriage..[/QOUTE]
Gen 2:21-24
... LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.
And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh;
She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.”

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

any questions?

Wanting to start a thread about what i see in Scripture concerning marriage...

Noting the TOS 2.6: A member may not impose additional rules upon threads by claiming on/off topic or by other means. Moderators will enforce only the rules as included in the ToS and are not obligated to enforce regulations promoted by a member.
I am politely asking we keep this to Scripture ideals not running off about state law, divorce, all the what ifs, etc.

My thoughts of the pictures i see, will be from the female side DUH... I am fully interested in the male side.

Gen 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Gen 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

I do not read where God spoke to Eve about not eating the "apple" My take is Adam was to take on that responsibility.. Adam failed as her covering. She showed him the 'apple 'he said "looks good to me" :thud

So out of the garden they go hearing this

Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
Gen 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
Gen 3:19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

I get the picture life was not easy.. There were no tractors no kitchen gadgets etc... Together they endured the loss of a child . In the most painful way, of one you love hurting/killing one you love..

To me this is the bases of marriage I will move on in another post

Agreed 100%! It pains me greatly how the Church has not merely subjugated women, but actually used Scripture to do so?!? Had that been done in my presence I'd like to think I'd go down swinging, much like Sampson. Then again I was raised in an egalitarian household.

Adam was CLEARLY the responsible party, and failed COMPLETELY to protect his wife or to act in any way as her covering. And God took him to task over it, the way I read it.

One might think a godly woman would make this concern her top priority if choosing a mate?

Away from failure, the picture of doing it right is two shall be made one, and it illustrates our relationship with Christ.

I won't go into detail but about 10 years ago I had biblical reasons to divorce my husband. I chose not to do that. Honestly, the first 16 or so years of our marriage were horrible. I mean, horrible to the point where I thought about leaving or tossing him out on more than one occasion. The final event scared him to death. He said that he felt God speak to him about what he was doing and how he was acting. I'm not saying I was 100% innocent, because honestly there are time I don't like living with me. BUT...these things were on him, involving alcohol abuse and violence.

Well, God got hold of him (finally!) and the last 3-4 years have been fantastic. The bottom line is that God is NOT behind the strife and the fights and the other things and when you finally let go and let God drive the ship, that's when your marriage will be the best it can be. I would encourage couples to stay the course, get CHRISTIAN help when needed and have mentors who aren't afraid to lay it all out with you. We have been blessed with a mentor couple at our church and hopefully will be able to mentor younger couples soon.

Yay! Very glad to see this testimony, praise God
