Ok, here's a poll on what are the scriptures to you. I lean towards the book is supernatural, literally. The Holy Spirit speaks to us when we read and meditate on the word. Especially when we ask Him to before we start. Reading it, washes our heart and mind over time. It gives a connection with God. There's no other book like it on earth. It's our owners manual for being human, lol.

The Bible has been called a lot of things over time that I've seen. Some believe it, some don't. I just wondered how the percentages stack up here on the forum. You do not have to explain if you don't want to but at least vote in the poll.

I believe it is the inspired biography of God given to us for our benefit. There has been no other literary work that even comes close to what the Bible contains. Sixty-six books, approximately 40 authors, spanning approximately 1,500 years of history and yet they all fit together in perfect unity. Human-kind couldn't pull that off alone.

Exactly how I see it. It's a self proving book actually. Everything is in it. History, wisdom to live by, prophecy of future events, advice for everyday living and when we talk to God while we read it...he Will speak to us. Listen closely and He will put thoughts into your head and lead you to your answer...and forgive you and bless you!

And the Lord has a way of confirming Him self. He will put it into your heart that you know that you know that, it is truth and He is truth. Scripture does tell us! ...The Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth. Not most of it or except anything, all truth....

Eventually it turns into a conversation within you. Oh! The Lord is Good! No other book will allow man to connect with his God!

It speaks wisdom and advice for any situation or problem that is common to man. It is all in there. That proves it also. The Lord, is teaching me so much lately that, whew! When scripture says His word will become living waters within us, I believe what's it's talking about is, that our Lord will be within us and speak with us...unseen. and revelation of Him self and the truth, will flow...like living waters within us. He told me that discernment is learned by practicing listening to him and His voice within me...
The carnal mind can not understand it or receive it, so it is to be taken in faith. And it wont make sense but it will happen because He promised He would.

He admonished me today. For wasting time. I don't use my time wisely.

love the bible - it is supernatural - it is life and truth - it is God's voice in written form -

great poll - excellent poll choices - you put a lot of thought into it

Really?! I did not put a lot of thought into it! It was kind of off the cuff. I was thinking I should have taken more time so it would've been better, lol.

I'd put my vote in a mix between option 3 and option 5. (So I chose option 6: other)

I believe the bible is the Word of God, or at the very least the recorded word and spirit filled through and through. And I think God speaks to me through it. But I don't read it as often as I should. Use to be better. Read the bible in my breaks in my car, but I'm car pooling now and don't drive my car as much. Need to make time and show that God's important enough to dovote time to Him, or to a ministry for Him. ..... Just don't do enough, story of my life. ....

I believe that the Bible is a miracle in and of itself.
It is unique...no one else has a Bible like it.

40+ authors of 66 books that agree perfectly.

John 1 explains how the Word of God became flesh. The same word spoke a universe into being.

I don't find it supernatural but it is extremely natural...but not common or mundane.
It is Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.

To me the Bible is the inspired word of God penned by inspired men of God to write instruction on how to have a life that is pleasing to the Lord within each of our personal relationships with His Son Christ Jesus being God's greatest gift to mankind.

The bible to me is the word of God, the history of the world from creation to the end. It is a guideline how to live and a bridge of communication from God to mankind let us know the things we need to know and exactly what He wants us to know. Through the bible we get to know God as much as is possible for humanity
As April said it is love story

lol - ok - i take my compliment back

if you did that off the cuff that is pretty impressive

Lol! It was still a good compliment Brother. That was good to hear. It sort of makes me wonder if I posted the poll at all, or if that was something the Holy Spirit did!

Yeah, me too. I don't read His word as much as I should or as much as I used to. I had a great routine for awhile. Get up early when my mind is fresh and the house is quiet and read it in the morning and pray. I still get up early but am not reading like I should be...it convicts me too. The Lord got on me about that too recently.

I am praying more than I used to though. I invite the Lord to go with me to work in the morning, and talk to Him as I drive around all day. He told me to stop listening to the truck radio! And I have not turned it on since! So now I talk to Him instead.

I believe that it's a love letter from God because He gave us His Son and whoever shall believe in Him shall have everlasting life. John 3:16 If that isn't love then I don't know what is. :cross

I agree, Sister. A large amount of my teachings from the Lord since I've been here, are all about love. His love, walking in love towards my Brothers and Sisters on earth here, Loving my neighbor as myself...and so forth.

Today I learned exactly who is my neighbor.

This is also what I have been learning lately. He has made the point to me that it is all that and more. That reading His word is even more important than I even realize...

Agreed! The instruction manual for life as a human!

I know I should read it more, He told me so. But what I have been doing is praying more and learning to discern the voice of the Lord within me, and I'm getting better at it...so I think I tend to want to talk with Him more, than I do want to read His word. Because He speaks very specifically and plainly to me and I just love that!

One thing about the Bible is that we will never exhaust all the teachings it contains. I would say in the last forty years of studying I have forgotten more than I use to know and have gained much more by asking the Holy Spirit to bring back to my memory of those things I once knew.

I find that reading a few pages every day (or night) is just enough where I feel like I'm learning more about God without overloading my brain and I do that too much already. :whirl
