The third one should say "Sola Fide" (Faith Alone)

Please refer to my thread about being born again of the Spirit to see what JESUS says about the central doctrine of Christianity. It has NOTHING to do with our opinions. The truth comes from the Son of God himself.

It certainly can't be faith alone because the only time that the words "faith alone" appear, it says we aren't saved by faith alone.

lol! How can "sola scriptura," which literally means "Scripture alone," also mean "faith alone" ("sola fide")?

I can't get in to edit it Free.

The central core of Christianity is to be born again of the Spirit. You cannot understand God without being born again of the Spirit. As Paul says in 1Co. 2:11, "For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.

You can PM Judy and ask her to change it, she has the ability. :)

Because you say so right? Why don't you explain WHY this doctrine is the central doctrine and explain WHY it is above all other doctrines? Provide Scriptural support for your reasons. Just asserting your favorite opinion is rather useless to anyone.

There is but one doctrine that is central to the true Christian faith--if anyone has missed this they are in trouble:

Read 1 Corinthians chapter 15

Because JESUS says so, Adam's son. Do you know who Jesus is? Do you care about HIS words? Jesus said a man CANNOT, I repeat, CANNOT enter the kingdom of God unless he is born again of the Spirit. " Does that mean ANYTHING to you? And again, as I already said, Paul's words confirm that; "The man WITHOUT the Spirit does NOT accept the things that come from God for they are FOOLISHNESS to him and he CANNOT understand them because they are spiritually discerned." Therefore, reading the bible WITHOUT the Holy Spirit in you is a COMPLETE waste of time because you CANNOT understand GOD WITHOUT the Spirit of God in you. It is impossible. Paul also says in 1Co. 11, "For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way NO ONE knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God." That is why Paul spent so much time making sure that people were baptized with the Holy Spirit. Once you receive the body of Christ in you, you then KNOW God. Jesus says; "Now eternal life is this; that you KNOW the one true God and jesus christ whom he sent." that is what he says eternal life is. You either believe HIM or YOUR idea of heaven. But i hate to clue you in, you did NOT create heaven. Only JESUS can tell us what it is.

If I were to limit it to one core doctrine then it would have to be 1 Corinthians 1:23, "but we preach Christ crucified".

1 John 4: 7, 8--Beloved, let us love one another. For love is of God, and everyone who loves is born of God, and knows God. He who loves not, knows not God, for God is love.

I sound like a simple, broken record lol- I seem to say roughly the same thing in every post- if we give ourselves over to God, his love is within us- his spirit guides us-although yes, the bible is our blueprint so to speak, the spirit of God within us gives us our direction-he tells us where to go, what to do, what to say- and when we rely on him to do this, when we allow him to do this, he changes us from within-and helps us to see others through his eyes, and deal with them in his way, which is love- because God IS love.

wow...I sound like a beatles song almost, don't I? haha--

The central core of Christianity is to be born again of the Spirit! As Jesus says, we CANNOT enter heaven without it. He also says that the Spirit will "teach us all things." He also says, "For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks." If God has not washed our hearts with the Holy Spirit, then they are still full of sin. We cannot do this on our own or as Paul said, then Chhrit died for nothing. Paul also says that the man without the Spirit cannot understand God. And most importantly, without the Spirit in us, we cannot know God. He said; "Now eternal life is this; that you know the one true God and Jesus Christ whome he sent." It therefore does no good to "obey" the laws like the Pharisees did without knowing Christ. Our deeds do not get us into heaven, only being born again of the Spirit does. The Spirit is what makes us understand scripture, the Spirit is what gives us hope, love, joy, thanksgiving, patience, and self control. That's why those are called the fruits of the Spirit. It is Christ whom we worship and when Christ is in us, we know and listen to his voice.

Heidi,

What deed do I have to do to be born again?

Charlotte

All you have to do is admit your sins and ask God for forgiveness and to give you the Holy Spirit. Good deeds come FROM the Holy Spirit, not from ourselves. Doing good deeds without the Holy Spirit is giving credit to ourselves for them rather than to God. Therefore, we cannot do good deeds without the Holy Spirit in us because our motives will be to glorify ourselves instead of God.

God became man so that man could become God in life and nature but not in the Godhead. Man will will have God's life and nature but will never be an object of worship.

Jesus is the first GodMan.

Yeh I know, when I first heard this I took a double take also.... still do sometimes.

But its the deepest revelation of the New Testament, and finds its consumation in the New Jerusalem.

In love,
