What is the order ("ordo salutis") of events in one's salvation?

Does it go faith, repentance, regeneration, belief, justification, sanctification...

Or does it go regeneration, justification, faith, repentance sanctification...

How does it fit with the "Golden Chain" of Romans 8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren;30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified

Do any of the events pertaining to salvation happen simultaneously?

Thoughts?

1) The call (conviction)
2) Repentance (change of mind about Christ)
3) Sanctification/Justification (they actually happen together)
4) Growing in sanctification
5) Glorification

I know I should post all the references for these, but I'm short on time, so let's just go with this for now:
The testimony of God by the Holy Spirit comes first: "the testimony of God is this, that He has testified concerning His Son. 10The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son." (1 John 5:9-10 NASB)

Where would you place regeneration? Understanding regeneration = born again Nicodemus style.

But.....prior to #3 ....your dead. (Spiritually) How can one who is spiritually dead even do #2 presented above?

I think it comes earlier than #3. Perhaps at the same time as #1
Regeneration is simply having Jesus by the Holy Spirit living in you, and as a result of his presence being a different person.

#2 (having a change of mind about who Christ is) is simply knowing by the gift of faith through the voice of the Holy Spirit that the gospel about Christ is true. From there, regeneration occurs when you ACCEPT and retain that truth, not turn away from it casting it aside, calling the voice and testimony of the Holy Spirit, who showed you it's true, a liar (1 John 5:10 NASB).

Romans 8:29 isn't the golden chain of salvation. In that passage Paul is explaining what God has done for those in the past that He had called to use to fulfill the promises to Abraham. He goes on in chapters 9-11 to explain what he meant in that passage.

This is the right order. After sanctification comes perfection and glorification.

GOD BEGINS WITH FOREKNOWLEDGE

For whom he did foreknow,

FOREKNOWLEDGE LEADS TO PREDESTINATION

he also did predestinate

PREDESTINATION LEADS TO PERFECTION
to be conformed to the image of his Son,

PERFECTION MEANS RESEMBLANCE TO CHRIST
that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

PREDESTINATION LEADS TO EFFECTUAL CALLING
Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called:

EFFECTUAL CALLING LEADS TO JUSTIFICATION
and whom he called, them he also justified:

JUSTIFICATION LEADS TO GLORIFICATION
and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

The Law Of The Spirit Of Life In Christ Jesus is the will of God's only prescribe order of victory for every born again Believer. It simply means that the Believer must maintain Faith exclusively in Christ and the Cross, i.e., Finished Work.

The Holy Spirit works exclusively within the legal confines of the Finished Work, i.e., "the Cross," guarantees the help of the Holy Spirit, which guarantees Victory.

If the Believers doesn't understand or attempts to live for God by any manner other than Faith in Christ and the Cross, he is doomed to failure. This places the Believer in the law of sin and death which is sin. For whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

The Law Of The Spirit Of Life In Christ Jesus gives the Believer victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil.

Victory over the world: Galatians 6:14 ; 1 John 5:4
Victory over the flesh: Galatians 5:24
Victory over the devil: Hebrews 2:14 ; Colossians 2:15

God only awards imputed righteousness by maintaining faith exclusively in Christ and his finished work (Romans 4:5). God only recognize the blood of Jesus on the door post of our hearts. That Believer is now under the strongest law in the universe, " The Law Of The Spirit Of Life In Christ Jesus (Romans 8:2)." This law is stronger than "The Law Of Sin And Death (Romans 8:1-2)." So when you do miss the mark and sin, you still have imputed righteousness. Which means: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Sin has no dominion over you. (The Believer must confess their sins 1 John 1:9)

If we as Believers do not understand these two Laws, then the "law of sin and death" will wreak its havoc on us.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Romans 5:1 ; Hebrews 10:38 ; Hab. 2:4 NLT

Two kinds of peace:

1. Justifying Peace - This is Peace with God, a legal standing. Rom. 8:7; Eph. 2:14-15
2. Sanctifying Peace - This is the Peace of God in the heart. Rom. 8:6; 14:19; 15:13; Gal. 1:3
The first is the result of a legal standing. The second is the result of the Work of the Holy Spirit. The first is static, never fluctuates, the second changes almost from hour to hour. The first, every Christian has, the second, every Christian may have.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 says, "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it."

Pastor Jimmy Swaggart Bible Commentary

Note: The bible doesn't teach "sinless perfection." 1 John 1:10
2 Peter 1:5-11 NIV, John 14:27 NIV, Colossians 3:15 NCV, Romans 12 NCV, James 1:7-8 NASB
There is no graduating classes in "The Law Of The Spirit Of Life In Christ Jesus" Philippians 3:13

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test? 2 Corinthians 13:5 NIV

What test is used in the bible to see if you are in faith?
Answer...Luke 16:9-13 Christians are tested with the least in the Kingdom of God which is money.

Considering what Jesus has said here (Luke 16:9-13 NKJV), I think it would be difficult to overstate the significance of this down to earth, practical teaching, that applies to everyone. If a person cannot be trusted with money, and in any capacity, Jesus plainly says, he cannot be trusted with Salvation, i.e., "true riches." In view of the seriousness of what is being said, we would do well to heed carefully.

In these passages (Luke 16:9-13), Jesus is saying that irrespective of how loudly and how often we profess our Godliness, if it does not show up in our practical, every day living, and especially in the matters of money, and our responsibility toward others, our profession is vain. This statement is plain and clear, if we are unfaithful in these things. "Who will commit to our trust the true riches?"

You can claim it isn't ....but when you google it many theologians seem to disagree with you.

Reformed theologians, no surprise there. However, that doesn't make them right. The text is pretty clear if one actually reads it instead of reading just one sentence and ignoring the surround text.

Where does regeneration fit in?
The moment one believes and receives Christ as Lord and Savior, he receives the gift of the Holy Spirit. The moment the Holy Spirit enters a person, He regenerates that person. This is all simultaneous with justification as we see from Titus 3:4-7:

SALVATION ENTIRELY OF GRACE
4. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

SALVATION AND REGENERATION SIMULTANEOUS
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration,

THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT PRECEDENT
and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

JUSTIFICATION PRECEDENT
7 That being justified by his grace,

ETERNAL LIFE GUARANTEED
we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

I hear a lot of talk about the verse. But that's about it.

I think regeneration logically happens first.....He saved us by the washing of regeneration.
Acts shows people who were saved prior to receiving the Holy Spirit.

Not really. Please note the order of events (Acts 2):

THE GOSPEL IS PREACHED
36Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
SINNERS ARE CONVICTED
37Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
REPENTANCE COMES FIRST, THEN THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST
38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
SALVATION IS OFFERED
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
THE GOSPEL IS BELIEVED AND BELIEVERS ARE BAPTIZED
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

Notice that saving faith is generated by GLADLY RECEIVING HIS WORD. This is when they received the Holy Spirit. Check Acts 10 for confirmation.

I hear a lot of talk about the verse. But that's about it.

It's really quite simple if one just reads the text. Paul said, 'for we know that God works all things together for good to those who love Him. As an example Paul said those that God knew before He predestined to be conformed to the image of Christ. Those He called He also justified, those He justified, He glorified. Then he goes on in chapters 9-11 to explain how God did this.

Let me ask you in verse 29, what is gloried?
