Joh 16:13 Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.
Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
BUT THE QUESTION.
Act 19:2 . . . Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? (And how do you know?)
The Spirit is our life. Simple analogy - our heart, mind, soul are a dark room - the Spirit is the light inside that room - the power of God is what comes from the Father, through the Spirit, into us(the room). He 'illuminates' for us to see, and provides the power(think receptacles on the wall ) for us to live.
The Spirit is the connection we have with Christ and God the Father.
2Co 3:18
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
That is the condensed version. There are multiple individual things that the Spirit does in the life of the believer. However, until a firm grasp on how that takes place is known, then the rest can be kind of muddy.
Think of it this way. Before the Spirit comes to a person, that person is a lifeless being. Completely dead to ANYTHING that has to do with God. When the Spirit comes, He provides the connection to all that is God. Before, we were completely enslaved to sin. After, we are set free by the power of the Spirit in us.
So you can say, first and foremost the 'how' of the work is by the power of God. Secondly, the 'why' of the work is for transformation.
