Hi there!

:)

It seems that the forums have all shifted away from members thinking and responding to postings to a continous supply of cut-n-paste postings and answers from their "favorites" file.

Has everyone forfeited their ability to think and speak on theology/Bible/Christian living just to replace their own abilities with lengthy, sometimes inappropriate, postings, chapters from books, commentaries and lengthy quotes of Bible passages?

I am just curious to hear from what you prefer to "read" and "write" in postings.

I voted that I have the time to read cut/paste.

I have the time, but I don't do it much.

I like when people post on the spot, and think rather than run and come back to post a whole bunch of someone else's opinions and stuff.

I voted for 'I prefer to read original thought in questions and answers', but occasionally I take the time to read the others as well. Hey, even I am guilty of the copy/paste as well.

Malaka, how about a lenghty post about your trip? eh?

Hi there!

Well, if anyone posts original thought, I will provide original answers.

The trip was great; a real learning experience. Looking at Israel through the eyes of those who have escavated the land for the past 40 years puts the Scriptures in a whole new perspective.

Somehow, when you are picking, shoveling, sifting, and moving dirt, you get a real "taste"of how the land must have been 2000 years ago when Christ walked on the very spot where you are digging.

hey, wouldnt you be a little afraid over there? I mean, isnt there like every other guy a terrorist ready to blwo someone/thing up?

No, there really isn't a problem with terrorism unless you live in Gaza or parts of the West Bank.

Jerusalem's biggest problem is pickpockets, not terrorists.

I have two questions:
  1. Who's the other person who likes to read original thought and not just cut-and-paste? (Only one person besides myself has voted that way)
  2. How far can I take this thread necromancy thing before I get excommunicated from the forums?

Interesting, this just came up for me literally a few minutes ago in another thread. Cutting and pasting someone elses material and making it look like it is your own is called plagiarism and is not a good thing to do! I don't mind if the person shows us what someone else said to support their own ideas, and I don't mind seeing quotes or Bible passages to support their ideas as long as they are not representing that as their own words and thoughts. I've seen a few posts lately where it really looks like someone just blatantly plagiarized someone elses writing, the latest one not even making any sense since it refereed to things that have happened in the last half of this century. So either the poster is a time traveler from the future or is a plagiarist. :-D

Everyone is different. Some prefer original thought and some prefer cut and paste. To each their own.

There a sixth option missing: I do not prefere to answer polls that are full of leading vocabulary.
I mean.. really, if you want to hear people's real opinion you should turn the "lengthy cut and paste" into something that sounds a bit more desirable.
Making a poll just to make some point is condescending.

I like original thoughts backed up with scripture where appropriate....
No scriptures for jazz in the Bible.
And I don't mind cut and paste of an interesting subject, with original thought applied.
I didn't vote either because none seemed to fit.
