Hi Chopper,
Another term I've found for Easy Believism is Cheap Grace.
(just believe and all will be OK)

I do have a question for you.
I agree with all you say except I don't understand how you explained Historical Faith.

Here is what you said in the O.P.:

There are two kinds of faith. One is called "historical faith" and the other is called "biblical faith". The difference is that historical faith is simply trusting that a chair will hold me if I sit down on it. Biblical faith starts out as a gift from God to be used as we trust in the active works of the Son of God dying and shedding His own Blood on the cruel old cross for our sins remission.

I have been taught that faith is a MOVEMENT. If we have faith, we move and do something.
If I want to get to the 5th floor of a building, I have to STEP INTO the elevator and have FAITH that it will take me to the 5th floor.
If I DO NOT have faith, I will not step in.

As far as Biblical Faith, I would say that your saying that we are to trust in the "active work of the Son" would be the same as trusting in the grace of God?

Please comment.

My dear Sister. Nathan did a great job explaining historical faith. It's really only worldly confidence, like you said about the elevator.

Good for you Dan. I'm very proud of you because of this level of maturity that you've shown in this post. A few of us, your friends, were very concerned about where you were headed. I'm so very happy that you weren't offended at my rebuke....James 5:19 "My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back,
5:20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins."

I Love You Dan.
Chopper

I guess its growing in spiritual maturity and humbleness, im not offended no one should be offended of being corrected, Christ doesn't hold a grudge against someone who makes an error and then humbles themself to be corrected. But self proud is stubborn.

I don't think God wants us to call people names such as quacks.
That is not an issue, as I see ti, it quite different.
God wants to always tell the truth and to judge the fruits of others. (Matt. 7:10-24) This error is most often struck upon because because of the teaching of Worldly Preachers and teachers that practice sin and they draw Matt. 7:1 out of it's context. But the truth is Matt. 7:1 is a vital component of the first paragraph (verses 1-6) where Jesus is teaching that we are grow in righteousness before we judge anyone, get the log (sin) out our eye.

May God bless, Brock.

You are right, Brother. For men to explain it away as ok because this or that, is to forget the second greatest commandment. Those are God's children too and He loves them and died for them. We are not to have any corrupt communication come out of our mouth. I did not see an addendum except slang. quack has a negative connotation to it no matter how you slice it.

I remember a story back in 2 Kings (?) where some kids were teasing a bald priest...and the Lord caused two she-bears to come out of the woods to slaughter them for it. Be careful Brothers and Sisters.

All i am is a wretched sinner in constant need of God's mercy. My faith is solely based on Gods mercy through Christ. Nothing else. No doctrine. No nothing.

My heart seeks the Kingdom of God, but my flesh is a disgrace.

As Christians, we should always strive to be kind, considerate and loving. Can't stress that enough... !

However, sometimes the 'truth' needs to be told. When someone, or a group of people are in obvious, blatant error, it needs to be said....
Jesus used the following terms to describe the pharisees in Matthew 23 (ESV)
  • hypocrites!
  • hypocrites! (again)
  • blind guides
  • blind fools
  • blind men
  • hypocrites! (again)
  • blind guides (again)
  • hypocrites! (again)
  • blind Pharisee
  • hypocrites! (again)
  • whitewashed tombs
  • full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness
  • hypocrites! (again)
  • sons of those who murdered the prophets
  • serpents,
  • brood of vipers
  • murderers (v 35)

Being called a "Quack", seems a little mild :tongue
