The topic for me is not an emotional topic and I tell you in all truth that my emotions are in check.
I know what the bible says about this issue as do others. I don't have an issue with the topic, I have an issue when a brother in Christ defiles the gospel and we are told.

1 Timothy 6:3-5 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting over questions and disputes of words, out of which comes envy, strife, railings, evil suspicions, Perverse wranglings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw yourself.

The intent of a Christian should be to grow in Christ. When you openly rebuke what the bible says, then we are told how to treat those that call themselves brothers.

1st. We are to gently guide them.
2nd. If they refuse to believe, we are to correct them.
3rd. If they do not correct themselves and repent, we are to ex-communicate them until they repent.

I can pull scripture if need be, but dont' feel the need at this time.
Please tell me where I have erred, other than changing the topic of this thread.
Again, I am not above reproof. Simply show me where I need to grow and follow the three guidlines that Christ has outlined for us.
Peace
.

AMEN STOVEBOLTS :)

What should be done with homosexuals

StoveBolts,

I see what you are saying , I however think that when you say, I call into question your salvation ,you are judgeing. You said he was a wolf in sheeps clothing, and that he dosent know God, plus you judge him as being here on the forums to incite strife. I am just saying to me these are not gentle rebukes but judgements. I strongly feel that when you judge someone you are in grave danger of being judged in the same way by God. I know I was called a liar along with another member on here, and that is a judgement and no one spoke up for either of us or said anything to the persons who judged us to be liars. So this is all I have to say on judgement since I have gotten off topic , Im sorry for that.

I fully understand you point. However, do the scriptures that I posted fit the template?
Additionally,

Matthew 7:1-5 Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you again. And why behold you the speck that is in your brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the speck out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then shall you see clearly to cast out the speck out of your brother's eye.

William Burkitt notes said:
Mt 7:1
Observe here, The prohibition, and the reason of that prohibition. Judge not, this is not meant of ourselves, but of our neighbour.
Self-judging is a great duty; judging others a grievous sin; yet is not all judging of others condemned, but a judging of our neighbour's state or person rashly and rigidly, censoriously and uncharitably: especially unrighteously and unjustly. And the reason of the prohibition is added; if we judge others rashly, God will judge us righteously.

Learn thence, That a rash and censorious judging of others, renders a person liable and obnoxious to the righteous judgment of God.

Note farther, That Christ doth not here forbid judicial judging by the civil magistrate, nor ecclesiastical judging by the church governors, whose office gives them authority so to do. Nor does he forbid one Christian to pass a judgment on the notorious actions of another, seeing the duty of reproof cannot be performed without it; but it is such a rash and censorious judging our brother, as is void of charity towards him, as is accompanied with contempt of him, especially if we have been guilty of the same or greater sins before him.

Do I have a beam in my eye? I will be judged by the measure that I use to judge. We are commanded to judge, yet we cannot condem. Once we condem, then we have sinned.

Mark 4:24-26 And he said unto them, Take heed what you hear: with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given. For he that has, to him shall be given: and he that has not, from him shall be taken even that which he has. And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;

Albert Barnes NT Notes said:
Mr 4:24
Verse 24. Take heed what ye hear. Or, consider well what you hear Make a good improvement of it.
With what measure ye mete, etc. You shall be treated according to the use you make of your opportunities of learning. If you consider it well, and make a good improvement of what you hear, you shall be well rewarded. If not, your reward shall be small. This is a proverbial expression. Cmt. on Mt 7:1.

Mete. Measure. With what measure ye measure.

Unto you that hear. To you who are attentive, and who improve what you hear.

Judy makes me chuckle...

greyfeather,

If you ever need any support for the cause of righteousness.
Ye have not because ye ask not....
Ask and you shall receive. :biggrin

There are plenty of people here who are excellent at finding scripture to support truth. Now as far as opinion..... Well, we all have our own, don't we? All we are doing is our best and hoping to mature, where maturation is needed. :) I know I sure have a lot of growing to do. But then that's how it is when we are all in the process of learning. A debate here, a debate there..... and hopefully, we learn something from it.... Yes? :biggrin What is sad is when there weren't any lessons learned. :sad

I didn't see that thread where you were called a liar.... sorry :-?
What thread was it? Shall we raise if from the grave? :biggrin :-D

what should be done with homosexuals

Judy,
I wont have this conversation with you because you would like nothing better then too make me look like a fool. I have not judgeed him and you know what I mean. I pointed out in my way that I saw it as judgement. If I am wrong then God will judge me also. :-?

What should be done with homosexuals

StoveBolts,
If I have offended you then I apoligize, like I said before I have been judged on here and I was trying to do what I thought was right in pointing out what I persived as a judgement call by you. If in doing so I have judged you then its my cross to bare and I will bare it. I have nothing personal against you.

what should be done with homosexuals

Relic,

What should be done wih homosexuals

To get back on the topic of this thread I will repost what my thoughts were on this subject in the first place.

Posted: Mon Jan 31, 2005 5:57 am Post subject: What should be done with homosexuals

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why would anyone get into a tizzy about homosexuals. I have seen their gay pride gatherings on the news , do you know why they are more out there now then ever? Because others are giving them more power by hateing them , they are becomeing more angrey and want more attention.
I truly think that we should pray for them , and if ask speak to them about what God has to say about their practices. If they take it in and change thank the Lord if not they will be judeged by God. Its not up to me to judge jury and exacutioner in a sence , God will do that and all the hate some Christians show just makes all Christians look like a hateful bunch of people.

With that we have now come full circle. Since this topic is not edifying to anyone and it has deteriorate to the point that Christians are now made to defend themself over the rights of the homosexual I think it is time to lock this topic.
