When you don't know what brand to buy, then buy Japanese.

Find out date of manufacture before you buy.
Buy newest date.
Many tv's for sale in all the major stores are already outdated.

Here's one for you.

Go to Newegg.com and look for the size tv for which you are looking. Then look at the ratings and reviews. The people who buy from this site (myself included) are tech savvy and honest about their experiences with the products.

This is not to say you should buy from that site, but you can use the research from there to find something at your local brick-and-mortar store.

Find one of these in the store and ask if the tv you want is compatible.
It must be or else you are buying an old tv.
